A forum for all things Cardiff City
Sat Feb 21, 2015 5:13 pm
City have now stretched their unbeaten run to 4 games and a second clean sheet in the last four games.
The football has not been brilliant but are City slowly turning the corner, we are obviously a little harder to beat than we were a month ago.
If we can start turning our home results in to wins then away draws like today will be far more valuable but there is work in progress and we now it is not happening overnight but it is another point towards safety.
I am not in the camp that believe we can make the play offs but if you are then today is two points dropped in the quest for a top six position so being someone who is looking at survival than rather than promotion then I am happy to have taken a point rather than have expectations and hope of a play off position.
We could go some way to securing our safety over the next ten days with Wigan and Rotherham away either side of a home fixture against Wolves.
Our possession stats were back to what they usually are under Slade, 62% - 38%, but it is the score line that matters and another point has been chalked up.
Against Blackburn on Tuesday, Dai Hunt, started a chant that had us in stitches :
We'll stay up on draws,
We'll stay up on draws,
Never mind winning,
We'll stay up on draws.
Think he could be right

I was walking with Dai after the game and I kept asking him to sing it, it was hysterical

A month ago we would have lost this so like you said Carl a bit harder to beat now. I'd have taken a point before kick off either way as our away form is worse than homes under slade, current 7points off millwall, a win could take us in top half to
Sat Feb 21, 2015 5:23 pm
38% possession tho
Poor stats
Sat Feb 21, 2015 5:25 pm
But as I said it's what you do with the possesion
We had one more shot and the same amount on target
You can play with figures to suit any agenda
Sat Feb 21, 2015 5:26 pm
I really wish I could be this positive Carl.
But even though I wasn't there today, because of work, you just have to look at the stats.
Slade has to go.

When we lose having more posession than the other team I wonder if fans will say we didn't deserve it
Sat Feb 21, 2015 5:30 pm
Every point is priceless for us but agree we have to now start to win at home.
Its been a mad season ole gone slade in then the trimming of the squad fell sorry for slade hes been dealt shit cards from the off . I don't think he is the man to take us forward but hope im wrong.
Playoffs for me is not on my mind just need to stay up and go again next season going to be an important summer but the club needs a clear cut direction philosophy etc and stop so many players coming in and out.
We need to be run from the top better before this club moves forward.
Possession again today 37% or there about which has to change to win games as does scoring goals . Win the home games is the next challenge for us and then things will get better time will tell.
Well done to the 400 or so who made the trip today.

What do the stats say ffs
One more shot than them
The same on target as them
And we were the away team

We lost under Solskjaer with more possession. I couldn't care less about possession. Results win matches. If possession was all that mattered Jose Mourinho wouldn't be the manager he is today. Since all this tika taka nonsense came about and kids now think they have to play this way to become the next coming of Barcelona its possession this, possession that. A high amount of possession is only good if you make use of it.

We need to start winning else we could go down even on draws.
Personally I feel our problems lie with Craig Noone and Peter Whittingham. Noone has been the biggest disappointment this serason. He keeps giving the ball away too much hence why we are not scoring the goals. Adding to his poor performances Whittingham needs to stop giving the ball to the opponents keepers. 2 goals from 4 games....carry on with that and we could easily go down.

My point is Barnett we are unbeaten in four plus a month ago we would have lost this so instead of fans saying it's getting better with results which it us let's play the old not enough possession card to moan about, they can not see past the slade or tan hate that's the trouble. We have lost with more posession in games many times such is football

You can't ever argue with a clean sheet and a point away in the championship. It's not what we all want but realistically not many expected a win today, it's a decent point but would have felt a lot better had we not conceded that late goal Tuesday.
Onwards and upwards

Totally agree.
4 points from last 21 is not good enough.
We probably need 12-14 more points from next 14 games to be safe....
But we've taken 9 out of the last 13 games!!
Slade rescued Brighton in 2008-09 so at least he has some experience of this.

Are we saying that we are delighted with a 0-0 draw against Brighton and Huddersfield? Teams who we had less than 40% possession against..
Clean sheet as both the above are poor sides.. Must be me, I'm failing to see the positives here, still only 1 win on the road. Down to 17th..

I love it on this site, but you gotta wade thru the shit!

Charlton had only 36% yesterday and won 3 nil so dont really think possesion is an issue and i believe it is actually do with the ball when you have it regardless of how often.

Maybe so.... We don't create that much though... Le fondre 3 in 3! Barely had a sniff of goal for us. Shoes he was getting no service,
If we don't have possession we need to creat chances when we do have the ball. It's not happening enough. We've just played two poor sides in Brighton and Huddersfield , only reason we kept clean sheets is they are equally as poor as us.
Y is it under slade we cannot retain possession in any game? There are 2 sides who are looking like certain relegation candidates, the other place we are well and truly involved in... We can't keep drawing against poor sides..
Sat Feb 21, 2015 10:23 pm
Not good enough. Sorry.
Onwards and upwards.
