There will always be excuses Annis, & if people can't think of any, then they will simply make them up.
That's how it is, & that's how its always been.
The only way to guarantee big, consistent crowds is by having a winning, & hard working team to watch regularly.
A team one can relate too & feel proud of.

Rick,I know your right, but some of our fan base is so fickle and to many glory hunters.

A big reason for a lot this time around will be the cost and quality of football served up! It's not a great Championship this season with the exception of maybe 2 or 3 teams.
What I am hearing is people will spend their money on other things. Most of these people have supported City for years so that blows glory hunters etc out of the water. If they also go there will be less than 10000 season ticket holders next season.
Once again I will say a lot will cherry pick games to have the choice of when and what games they attend

I agree, the prices should of been cheaper, but our fans would of paid a lot more if we were still in the premiership and they would of paid it. We support Cardiff, not the opposition

Im past caring if we 5,000 or 25,000 at our games so long as im there
We may have a big fan base but its obvious now that 10 -15,000 is what our true crowd is.
I would would rather a passionate 10k than a happy clapper 25k with glory hunters killing the atmosphere

100% spot on, supporting Cardiff City always been like a roller coaster, but that's why I love this club. Unfortunately we have too many glory hunters who will always make an excuse. Renewing our 5 next month.

Once we went back to blue I said I'd get a season ticket again. Now I'm hesitant. not saying it's going to happen but if the worst does and we're relegated paying £350 for League 1 I just can't justify. If we manage to stay up I'll be first one in line to get my ST back!

I have only bought a season ticket 5 times in over 45 years of following this club. I spend a lot of time through the Winter overseas, and often miss around 7 or 8 games. More often than not it wouldn't pay for me to buy one, but when I am around will never miss a game however many others are there and whatever league we play in. I should think there are plenty of others around in the same position, and I expect some supporters have to pick and choose their matches due to personal financial circumstances.

Top reply, no how long have I been going down the city, was supporting them in the lower divisions, I buy and spend thousands every season following City, through thick and thin
Good on you fella

No perks anymore, ambassadors used to be first in line for away tickets. A lot of fans buy season tickets and normally miss a few games so they will be better off next year just buying tickets for individual games. I'm sure we will get bigger walk up crowds next season.

This board will not represent the average fans as most on here are a little more obsessed with Cardiff City.
Your average fan will respond mostly to League position, Club ambition, and then performances, and possible famous players and Managers.
As all the above are below what your average fan would want the numbers will plummet, no matter how much the more obsessed message board fans moan about it.

Depends if that is your reason for not renewing.
A big thing was made of the return to blue but the lack of fans flowing back would suggest, although important, it was only of concern to a small hardcore group of fans.
The club can make all the stupid business decisions they want but as soon as they make stupid footballing decisions people will make hard choices.
EVERYONE knew the right man for the managerial post but they went for a yes man.
Outcries over a colour, but blindly watching as the club is forced into a relegation battle. Some fans crave the lower leagues though so it's not all bad.
Relegations on their own are not a reason to stop going. I mean we've been through many over the years. It's the half arsed approach to the playing side that is abhorrent.

no blue no renew ?
cant use that excuse now !

I renewed on day 1.....as I said before, you stick with your club through thick and thin! However, I am also of the opinion that the football could not get any worse than the last few weeks - Board / Fans / Owner would not allow it in the long term.
I am not for "Manager bashing", nor am I a huge advoate of Slade, but in fairness it SEEMS like he's had one hand tied behind his back since day 1 - Keeping Young and Gabbs, No money, firesale of players.... I'm hoping Blackburn was the sign of things to come - although one swallow does not make a summer. If indeed the performances for the rest of the season ARE similiar, then I'll be even happier to have renewed. The new head coach is a VERY positive step, and maybe over the summer, Slade can have his chance at putting a decent backroom staff together.
Maybe the last few weeks were the choppy waters we had to cross to get to the "kick on" phase of Slade's reign. I hope so. But in the here and now....its not a surprise people are reluctant to renew - plus we have a 33k white elephant to fill each week with plenty of ticket offers for individual games. Its more likley people will pick and chose games next season and not risk commiting to whats been seen of late.
Thu Feb 19, 2015 1:36 pm
The vast majority who renew will renew the last week or so.

If season ticket sales could possibly be as low as 10,000 then I think that the Club in conjunction with the supporters groups should really start getting their heads around some ideas to promote the sale of season tickets to potential new supporters and casual fans who don't attend every game. I still feel that there is huge untapped potential within the city of Cardiff itself of people who like football, take an interest in Cardiff City but don't go to the stadium. Take out the people from outside Cardiff and there are probably around 10,000 Cardiffians who follow their local team at the moment. That is poor for a city with a population of over 300,000. Some marketing initiatives aimed at the locals, especially youngsters, are bound to pay off. The club has been taking its support for granted based on challenging for the Premier League and four Wembley appearances.

I'm not surprised that the uptake is so low. I along with 7 of the people I sit with still haven't received anything through the post.
How many others are like this? I bet there are people out there that don't even know they can renew!
Thu Feb 19, 2015 6:31 pm
I will be renewing but haven't done so yet

i moved to Cardiff from london 36years ago,Spurs were and always will be my team.Cardiff were the nearest team to where i lived,it could have easily have been Swansea. i picked and chose my games for 30 years and bought my first season ticket three seasons ago,but this last two months or so i have started to pick and chose my games to watch.yes it was great to back in blue but the quality of football is the key for me,i don't live and breathe cardiff city. As for next season i will be holding onto next seasons money until the manager/team is sorted out.No rush to purchase because their will be plenty to chose from.
Thu Feb 19, 2015 9:09 pm
Can someone remind me, but how many season ticket holders were there the season before the FA Cup final? If you compare that figure with the number who buy next year, that will give some idea of the permanent progress (or lack of it) made over the last 7 years.

Me too, but every year I have to sneak the money out of my sock drawer without the missus seeing it! Ssh!

Irrelevant what sales are right now, many will wait to see what League we are in and can't blame them. I will renew whatever happens, but right now there is absolutely no need to and It's last thing on my to do list. No rush chill out
