Cardiff manager Slade abruptly leaves room after our man Chris Wathan asks questions the fans want answered

Cardiff City’s under-fire manager Russell Slade appeared to storm out of his pre-match Press conference ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Derby because he didn’t like questioning from WalesOnline football correspondent Chris Wathan.

Slade got up and abruptly left the media briefing at the Bluebirds’ Vale of Glamorgan training HQ after our man Chris asked him two pertinent questions on behalf of the fans.

Many supporters have expressed anger and discontent at the style of football and results being achieved under Slade and disbelief that he has got rid of so many of the club’s better players.

Cardiff City’s under-fire manager Russell Slade appeared to storm out of his pre-match Press conference ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Derby because he didn’t like questioning from WalesOnline football correspondent Chris Wathan.

Slade got up and abruptly left the media briefing at the Bluebirds’ Vale of Glamorgan training HQ after our man Chris asked him two pertinent questions on behalf of the fans.

Many supporters have expressed anger and discontent at the style of football and results being achieved under Slade and disbelief that he has got rid of so many of the club’s better players.
     

Unfortunately looks like the truth hurts

My gut feeling is he will be under far more pressure tomorrow after what I honestly see as a thumping

For me, there is one major reason why I'd actually be slightly sad to see Slade leave and that is that he was the manager who oversaw us returning to blue.

This should not be overlooked. Mackay could have stood up to the board and said that it was not going to be good for the team, for team spirit, for club/fan relations etc. He only said once he'd left that he basically backed the return to blue, but said nothing while in charge. Solskjaer of course then also did nothing. Fair play to Slade, he was quite public about not being keen on the situation, and he must have had a role in getting the ball rolling.

My initial reaction was give Slade a break.

But the reality is he has a senior role at a club in an industry where public scrutiny is normal. Although one can have sensitivity to Slade's reaction, in reality it is immature and most definitely a sign of disrespect to supporters.

All Slade has to do is have the maturity to express his opinions on a public arena like this and merely do what a lot of people do on this forum namely, say "that is my opinion, that is what I think!"

Or say, we have a strategy t the club, I am trying to get results without the scope of that strategy.

We all know we going to turn Derby over tomorrow. Then he will be safe for another month

Not sure he was much of an influence in the final decision, I think it was the fan rebellion not Slade.

The man knows he's out of his depth.

Slade is not a manager at this level, and this shows that he can't handle pressure either.

I cannot believe that anything Slade said or did would have made one iota of difference to Tan's decision to turn back to blue.

Slade is nothing more than Tan's lapdog, employed by him to oversee the drastic reduction needed in players and wages and if Tan says jump, Slade's only reply is to ask how high.

Those questions aren't that bad, makes Slade look even worse now.

Put it this way, these are the questions that Ole got most weeks. He may have been a shit manager, but at least he doesn't storm off over something like that.

I think the questions asked by the press were more than relevant and they are only asking questions that the paying fans want answers for. There is no doubt that we have gone backwards but Slade does not seem to acknowledge it.

Our performances have been poor for months and yes he has brought cheap imports in but they are unlikely to set the word alight. We are still lacking quality and are particularly short up front. We also need a hard tackling defensive midfielder and a born leader like Hudson.

If Slade is feeling the pressure now whats he going to be like if we do get a footballing lesson from Derby. The Rams should walk this game but football is a funny game. If both teams play like they have been then it has to be a a four goal win for Derby.

Logically you would be totally wrong, we have been shit and Derby look a miles better team at the moment, and our Manager and team are feeling the pressure and the fans are pissed off and not supportive.

On behalf of the players I think they owe the fans a performance.

Yes I probably am but my priority is to get this team winning. Get them winning regularly and get us all united so that we can return to the Premiership - if not this season then certainly next.

The point about RS overseeing return to BLUE is a good one. He is also a nice guy with great integrity.

Unfortunately, this is a results business so I see no road back for him at the moment. Pity.

Slade has spent his League career in the lower divisions. I would imagine press conferences at Orient were relatively sedate affairs attended by a small number of journos who were friendly enough. For the first time in his career Slade finds himself in the spotlight and he's being found wanting. Sounds like he's in urgent need of media training, cos it can get a lot tougher than this.
