Cardiff City: Javi Guerra set for return to Spanish football

Cardiff City striker Javi Guerra is set for a return to Spanish football after less than a season with the club.

The 32-year-old joined Cardiff from Real Valladolid in the summer of 2014 but has failed to make an impact.

Despite an impressive goal record in Spain, Guerra has not scored in his three Championship substitute appearances and two League Cup starts this season.

He is now expected to join La Liga side Malaga.

Great move for him, guaranteed 1st team football in a team hovering around the 6th spot in La Liga to try get a Europa place.

On loan.

So he could be back if we get premier football next season. Sounds a good move this.

Fail to understand why he hasn't been given a chance under Slade way better than Macheda who has featured quite bit under Slade. Hope he scores for fun in Spain and we have a recall clause to bring him back :old:

Me too, its obvious it's not ability as he is by a mile the best striker we have, maybe its style of play, or possibly still from the early fall out this season, either ways its gutting we didn't get to see the best striker play !!!

Should have been given a chance.Slades worse decision while hes been here in my opinion

Everyone I have spoken to have all said the same...he has not impressed in training...he is lazy and expects the ball to his feet, did not impress against Bournemouth and needs to go else where...this was Tans signing if you remember...he went and sorted this out, so if he was any good there is no doubt he would have been in the team...many people have told me this so where all this stuff about him being a great player etc comes from beats me???? He may well star in Spain but he did nothing to earn a place whilst here

Who does he think he is wanting the ball to his feet, doesn't he know we play route 1 hoof ball?

As for being lazy, I can't see him being any lazier than Jones or Macheda

I know what Corky is saying, training is important in this country, if you don't prove yourself there, you don't play simple as that. Corky he is a good player though, look at his previous season and the glimpse's we have had, you can see he is quality.

Everyone should know by now Slade doesn't pick footballers with skill
This talk of signing Matthews proves the point as he is not in celtics first team
One would assume he's to replace Brayford
And Malone is certainly not better than Fabio
Please remember Slade failed to get Orient promoted when they shoul have walked the league the position they were in
I'd rather have Dave Jones back than keep Slade and that dickhead no mark Scott Young

How many first team games did Ole give him? I seen every game he played and not once did he impress and I know that the club were not convinced that he did enough in training to get into the squad...he was very good in Spain, no doubting that but he did not seem to settle here...horses for courses as they say and if he goes back to Spain I hope he can do well again.

Corky, I honestly believe Guerra should of been given a run of games, the lad has quality.
I know for a fact he knocked on Slades door and asked to be given a chance a few weeks ago.
It just seems a lot of quality players are all leaving.

It will be interesting how he does at Malaga after a run of games?

Such a waste by Slade by getting rid of this player he didn't have a chance of playing and showing us fans what he could have done! We play Le Fondre who can't score in a brothel ATM and now got rid of Daehli aswell our most natural offensive player too, instead we sign Revell which hasn't got a good scoring record, so Slade might have his hand full if he doesn't improve the side majorly and quickly! :old:

Orient well overachieved with Slade in charge with using free transfers.

So to summarise he is wanted by a top la liga club, but not deemed better than average championship journeymen at our club. Malaga don't want to purchase him because of his age, and will be loaned out for the remainder of his contract.

Hi mate, Not going to contradict what you are saying about training but did the failure to impress in training stem from the Bournemouth game where he was crucified by Scot Young despite the fact that every player was poor that night.

When Guerra came on against Middlesboro he looked very good and he also played very well at Port Vale. I honestly think that if he had been given the same number of games as Macheda we would have seen the best of him :old:

It a great shame he was never given a chance.

Luke, I posted weeks ago,I know Guerras Spanish friends and he has begged to be given a chance, our loss in my opinion and all that money wasted in wages.

Re: Updated ' Javi Guerra leaving this week '

The decision not to play Guerra is symptomatic of the shambles the club has become.

Le Fondre gets games despite being hopeless, Macheda gets games despite running scared of defenders, Jones gets games despite not being bothered. Yet Guerra doesn't even get a chance...

How much input did Tan have into this decision? Or (God help us) Young? Or was it Slade's decision only? I don't think any of that lot are qualified to write off a player of Guerra's pedigree without at least giving him a fair chance.

What a waste!!!

Re: Updated ' Javi Guerra leaving this week '

Tue Jan 13, 2015 8:10 pm

We have a player with a very good reputation on big wages sitting in the reserves picking up his money who is being left out because both ole and Slade won't give him a chance, add this to the fact that the owner himself sanctioned the deal....now unless anyone can give me a better explanation other than that he has failed to do well in training and his attitude is not right. We are struggling for goals that would have saved Ole and probably have helped Slade yet they both declined to give him a run of games....what would either manager gain from leaving him out of the squad?
my opinion is that I believe what people have told me about this player, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. I would not have picked Slade to be manager but I am willing to give the bloke a chance, he is such an easy target ,only two of the players at the club were brought here by him so it's hard for me to make up my mind yet although lots of you are right so far the football as not been great this season...just my thoughts lads not saying they are right, just another view

Tan chose him so he is unlikely to not want him to play is he? And slade is not going to drop him if tan wants him in side so maybe just maybe people are right saying attitude is not all there? Better explanation than just saying slade ect ect dont know what they are doing?
