Cardiff City have now offered £100,000 for Scott Malone.

:ayatollah: Updated :ayatollah:

Millwall have turned a low bid down from City.

Millwall have turned down a bid in the region of £75,000 from Cardiff for defender Scott Malone.

MILLWALL have turned down a bid from Cardiff City for Scott Malone.

As first revealed by NewsAtDen, the Bluebirds are long-term admirers of the left back and firmed up their interest with a concrete offer in the last 48 hours.

Malone is out-of-contract in the summer and there have been no talks about an extension to his deal at The Den, so Cardiff are hoping to nab him for a cut-price fee.

But their opening bid of around £75,000 has been rejected.

Because of Malone's contractual situation, there is a limit to how much he will command in the January transfer window.

As a result, it is understood the Lions would be more inclined to part with the 23-year-old if Cardiff offered a player in exchange for him.

Isn't he a Left Back, or a left sided player at least?

People mix commitment for class and whilst I love Fabio's commitment, he's a defender who doesn't know when to jockey an opponent, instead of diving in and committing himself, when he hasn't got a chance of winning possession!!

Therefore I'd prefer us to bring in a defender who can hopefully make the right decisions to help the team!

I've asked a few Milwall fans about him and defending is his weakness, his strengths come in attack. He's very quick.

If his defending is as bad as Fabio's, then there's no point in bringing him in!

Well, 2 friends of ours are Millwall season ticket holders, reckon he is a vey good left back, strong in his tackle, can also be handy going forward, has to be better than John and FAbio, as much as I like Fabio, defending isn't his best quality

Afraid Fabio is a poor defender, but superb going forward...should be a winger. We desperately need a good all round left-back.

I have nothing against fabio but he would be on my list, can't defend and Declan John can do a similar job and no doubt fabio on big bucks. A solid left back on championship wages is a sensible move.

From FB

Glenn Villis Just spoke to a millwall season ticket holder. He sounds exactly the same as Fabio. Great going forward but can't defend! Guess he'll be on less wages would be the only reason then I guess

Dan Mahoney He finds space well and is always bombing on but he's final ball is shocking, we would of been better of playing him left mid as he go's missing and bottles tackles

Exactly! Poor mans Fabio. Has worse stats defending and even worse stats going forward making a pass. The only thing he got going for him is his hight.

Well if he gets rid of players like Daehli, Ravel & Guerra & plays Noone as a no. 10, it shows me he hasn't much of an eye for a player.
Don't know this guy & of course he may be brilliant but I doubt he's any better than we have already.
Slade certainly doesn't fill me with confidence.

Just sounds like we are looking to balance the books while at the same time be able to compete eat this level but nothing more. You never know, we signed players who came with great reputations and have been terrible. A change of club can work for some and not for others.

Yeah I agree & of course you have to give him a chance if he does come here.
Balance the books, get rid of the better players, bring in basic hard working guys to stabilise & sell up!?? Who knows with Tan?

Going backwards: Quality out & cheap ineffective imports in.

Will be an interesting transfer window. There is no doubt that the quality is going out but who will Slade bring in. I cannot see any marquee signings and a very limited budget to play with.

Cost cutting exercise in full swing and presumably Tan will either sell the club or the ambition to return to the Premier League has vanished.

Fabio is one of our better players but Slade doesn't want players who can play
I really am worried about the crap that Slade will sign during this window
He's a third rate manager with a coach who can't coach a welsh league side
Alun Durban days are here again and he got us two relegations
Whilst Slade is our manager????? The only way is down

Sounds no better than Declan John..

Sounds like RS is going to build a side good enough for a mid table First Division club.

God help us!

I don't rate Slade, but it's obvious Tan wants rid of certain players and Fabio is one. Don't know anything about Malone, but he's probably on nowhere near as much as Fabio and Tan will be happy with that.
