" How can people call Fridays game a boycott? "

Tue Dec 30, 2014 2:13 pm

I really don't understand this at all.

If we drew a big team at home, the likes of Man City, Chelsea, Man United etc we would probably sell out or if not certainly close to selling out.

The main reason is that people don't want to pay MORE MONEY to watch Cardiff against a Colchester side who are currently 23rd in league 1 and I cant blame them & of course its on the tele.

I'm not buying this one as a boycott. Not one bit.

Spot on, I'll cringe if people try to make out otherwise.

You can't call it a boycott but there will be a few less there than normal due to poor performance and people just fed up.

Agree 100%.

Re: How can people call Fridays game a boycott?

I think it needs to be done but with a protest outside the ground

Re: How can people call Fridays game a boycott?

Well I decided before the 3rd round draw was made that whoever we got I would not be buying a ticket and I will keep this position, whoever we draw, and in whatever round including the final if we get that far.

Some may think it's an empty gesture but for me to boycott the FA Cup this season is a small price to pay to send VT a message that enough is enough. I would also join any boycott of a League match if those organising the protests ask fans to do that. If as expected the club do announce ST going on sale during next month then Derby at home would be a good fixture to stage that.

I won't be renewing my ST next year and that's not just because of results, I've watched the city for 50 years now and seen double relegations and still has a ST the next year. This is about VT, his management style and of course his vision of a RED Cardiff City.

I NEVER miss any home games unless it a genuine reason i.e holidays. Illness or work etc.
That also includes friendlys and cup games.

I am a season ticket holder and i WILL be boycotting Fridays game and its not due to the money as 20 quid for the 2 of ua is peanuts anyway. Tan out. :bluescarf:

Re: How can people call Fridays game a boycott?

It's not a boycott. It's individuals not going, for whatever reason.

A boycott is an organised protest. Like against South Africa during the apartheid era, for example.

Would you honestly say the same if we had drawn a BIG team?

I agree the ticket price is good for a 3rd Round FA Cup tie but its more because of the way things are down there at the moment & people are fed up.

I strongly believe people would put all that aside if we were playing a big side at home.

It might not be a boycott as such but everyone I know are treating it as an opportunity to get one back on Tan by not going. Granted, not many would have been interested anyway, but its a great way of showing how fed up we are.
Boycott or not, the crowd will be tiny BECAUSE of Tan's behaviour.
I'm just hoping the press get wind of it.

I agree the crowd will be very low because its Colchester. But if we then drew Manchester United at home in the next round, I guarantee the crowd would be 33,000.

Of course Annis.......which is why this game is a brilliant way of showing our apathy. A crowd of under 5000 is bound to shock him.

But its only on BBC2 Wales,so no one really will notice.

Now if every boycotted say the next round home and then the next, then thats a real protest :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Well I just don't want to make the effort only to see more dribble on display :ayatollah:

At least if it's dribble I can change the channel. As for playing a big team? We are not its Colchester!

If we do get through and at the moment that's a big IF and we get a big Club in the next round? Then surely that's up to individual ST holders to attend or not. I am sure there will be a cut off date and the club will have no problem selling any spare tickets to the plastic variety. :bluescarf:

What makes you think we'll beat Colchester??

Hahahahah

Completely agree. I'm not going because I don't want to waste my money. Watching us play in the league is bad enough at the moment.

It is going to be a none event.

There will be just over 5,000 there. That is about normal for an early round cup tie for us. It is too low for the club to claim victory but too high to say our message has got across.

If we go through and draw one of the big clubs then it will be a test.

Re: " How can people call Fridays game a boycott? "

Tue Dec 30, 2014 7:13 pm

I'm not going because, it's a shit draw, the atmosphere on a normal game is utter shit so God knows how bad this will be, and because I've lost interest in the game..........

For the first time in many years, I often reluctantly go now, because I've bought the season ticket, if I hadn't I would have missed half at least......

If it was live on TV, I wouldn't have gone if it had been Man City or Chelsea either........
