" CARDIFF CITY STOP FANS FREEDOM OF SPEECH "

The last couple of home games Cardiff City fans have tried to take in the stadium and some have managed to get them in Banners/Signs and small posters with Tan out on them.

They have then had them snatched of them, taken from them and threatened with being banned or ejected, when City fans have asked surely its our right, many have been told orders from the Stadium management.

" SURELY WE ARE ALLOWED FREEDOM OF SPEECH & THIS SHOWS CARDIFF CITY ARE DICTATING TO OUR FANS? "

In fact every fan should video them and if they touch you, they have committed the offence :thumbright:

Absolute joke the way the club are going about things.

We're all entitled to our opinion, surely they have no right to not let fans take banners in.

They'll ban us from taking our own blue scarves in next.

Tan is making himself look more idiotic day by day.

If he thinks he can stop the protests like this, he couldn't be more wrong.

Yes but lets look at this a bit more deeply.

Tan is a dictator as we all know and demands total submission from his staff. He gets people to do the dirty work and wow and behold if they don't. The staff at CCFC are working under awful pressure. It is why I believe a certain high profile fan will renew his ST.

Do any of you have any idea what freedom off(sic) speech is?

Annis if someone started posting obscene things, or things you didn't like about you on this message board you'd ban them and/or stop them, and rightly so. Inside that stadium that Tan up keeps and pays for it's his dinner table we're dining at and he has the right to stop things that he doesn't like. We might not like it, but to act like its a freedom of speech issue is laughable.

Hi Annis,

What was the reasoning given for removing the banners?

They could say it's on healthy & safety reasons.. the banners do not have a fire safety compliance.

where is the obscenities? I know as a fact that all the Mods do there best to ensure posters are not abused and hate cowardly bullies. Makes no difference if the abuse is aimed at Annis or yourself, we act in the same manner. To allow posters the freedom to post without being abused for their views.

As far as I am concerned, the club belongs to the fans as without them the club folds. Fans will soon tire of being harassed and not being allowed to express themselves. Newport County took over 1000 away supporters to Cheltenham yesterday, you will see their support swell as the club is going to lose it's fan base in the Gwent area and parts of Wales where the fans have had enough.

if the club continues to push away the fans' right to let feelings be known, it will swell Newport into a genuine rival. That's my prediction

Yes I do and if you have just written on a banner " Tan Out " or " David Cameroon Out " that is your right as you feel they are not good enough to run your club or your country etc.

I know they have a right to stop them on the grounds that its not a public stadium, but surely as fans we have a right of say?most clubs dont act like Dictators to their fans.

What harm is there holding a banner up?

What has Cameron or Tan got to do with your website? If someone gave you abuse on this website for how you run it you'd Have the right to ban them and rightly so.

Also other clubs don't have to ban them because their isn't the dissatisfaction that our fans (rightly) have. But they still would http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/arti ... 04193.aspx no question.

This doesn't mean I don't think people should do it, that there shouldn't be in ground protests if that's the route people wish to go. But to use words like "dictator" and "freedom of speech" shows a profound level of ignorance.

Are you a dictator for getting rid of Roathie? Of course not and neither is Tan. Tan is however a massive f*cking clown.

Re: " CARDIFF CITY STOP FANS FREEDOM OFF SPEECH "

freedom of speech is a defence and justification to the banner so long as the message isn't abusive.

with freedom of speech comes responsibility. a simple tan out banner is neither abusive nor an abuse of the responsibility of free speech.

as FB said, it is no different to holding up a sign outside parliament saying david cameron out. you may not agree with the message but that is not the point. taking away the banner drives a further wedge between the club and the fans, with the stewards clearly showing where their loyalties lie, which is all they are achieving by trying to smother free speech. shame on them.

Yea but you have to take the rough with the smooth but tan doesn't like it does he.
If he wasn't so much of an idiot the way hes gone about running the club then people wouldn't be doing this.

Re: " CARDIFF CITY STOP FANS FREEDOM OFF SPEECH "

Freedom of speech in the UK is a fallacy. There is no direct law granting freedom of speech. That is why we don't have to put up with the loonies who get coverage in the USA (who have freedom of speech as a constitutional right). You have to be careful what you wish for!

However, the confiscation of banners and posters, etc. should be recorded as videos and supplied to the media. The publicity would strengthen the BLUE campaign and make Tan look like a proper Charlie. If stewards are using aggressive tactics to get the stuff, then again a record will be available. In fairness to the stewards, they are only carrying out the orders of their employer, but they have a legal responsibility to do so within reasonable levels of assertiveness.

The threat of bans is, unfortunately, a difficult one because the club can ban anyone it feels is acting inappropriately. I'm surprised bans haven't been used as a control tool.

It is true that as the owner, Tan can decide what is acceptable, but the world needs to witness some of the ridiculous things he is doing to stifle dissent on the terraces.

How often have I seen posters or banners at games expressing negative opinions about the management or board? Those clubs don't usually jump on the supporters and snaffle up the posters! Other clubs and the public need to see what is happening with concrete proof. Videos can be uploaded to social media and sent to newspapers during the games.

C'mon BLUEbirds. Get your phones ready!! :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

I think its a disgrace too - everyone should be allowed to voice thier opinion in a non violent, no intimidating manner.
What would happen if I took an old "Sam Hammam's Barmy Army" scarf down? Its not got Tan's name on it - take it away!

At what point is a Protest a protest in the clubs eyes? Wearing Blue? Blue scarves, people sitting in TAN OUT T shirts? People wearing TAN VADER t shirts? My Personal favorite was an official shirt with DON'T printed above the visit malyasia! A Harmless banner means nothing to anyone except who its directed towards.

Serious question time - If the Grange end chanted "Tan out" for 1 min every 10 min, would they all be ejected?

Also how about trying a few things out with these stewards

Take 3 banners next time - 1 Saying TAN ALLAN / TAN MAS , 1 saying TAN OUT and 1 saying WE LOVE YOU TAN put them all up at once in different parts of the same stand and see which one they target first / leave alone.

If they leave the 3rd one, then you know that its blatent censorship!

We need to start mocking this far east mentality more ourselves - the jacks had it right last year - point to the malaysia flag and chant "what the effing hell is that?", sing "Malaysia is a shit hole", "You dont understand our culture, you aint got no history" etc etc.

Lets start to recliam our blue welsh club by showing them we're not going to bow down like obedient dogs.
Sing, sing and sing....all game every game. make EVERY chant about Tan and his Malaysian cronies....

They said they were the custodians of our history and they would take care of it after the bail out......LIERS!!!!

Allan, I was careful to say that clubs don't usually do this and the ones you point out are the exceptions rather than the norm. If other clubs do it, it doesn't make it right and if the stewards overstep their authority, it is equally wrong.

Surely Cardiff is unique in that the colour is inextricably linked to the identity of the club. Other rebrands have not completely disregarded the very essence of the team's being. That is why the voices of the supporters need to be heard.

Just saying. :bluescarf:

how is 'tan out' abusive?

this thread is about the fans right to portray their views that they want tan out of the club. the abuse that tan is a c**t is not the issue in question here.

why are fans allowed to chant that we want tan out, but not put it on a banner as a visual message? you must be consistent here and ban both if you think one is abusive.
