MEN OF HARLECH

Mon Dec 08, 2014 11:40 pm

The words are on the big screens before every game, yet still nobody sings. All we can do is clap. Proof, if needed, that our fans are shit. :bluescarf:

I don't sing it, I just clap. :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

I sing it... (feeling slightly hypocritical as I am mostly an Englishman, with a small amount of Welsh, but it helps build up atmosphere in the stadium). Don't even need the words any more, it's not the longest tune in the world is it.

Noticed that not many around me sing it though. I've been wondering why for ages. It's a great (and unique) start to the game

I sing it every game! (I 'm in block 115 ). :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

How do we go about starting a campaign to get EVERYONE to sing it. With the words on the screens the Club have put it on a plate for us to be fair but still hardly anyone sings. If we could get everyone singing it would sound awesome, would give the players a lift and might just set the tone for the rest of the game and get the atmosphere going. I just can't understand why hardly anyone bothers. It's a great rousing anthem and it's unique to Wales. Next game just BELT IT OUT FFS :bluescarf:

I've blamed the stadium announcer Ali for ruining the atmosphere at the start in the past but tbh he is fighting a losing battle.

I think the red stand has made us lose any identity we had. I don't care about selling a few more seats, money isnt important. Everytime people go to sing to cheer us on they've got that big red reminder Tan is in charge. It has killed the atmopshere. Most people i think cba with it after that.

It doesnt feel like 'home' whatsoever. It was getting there, but not now. It'll never be home.

Yes good post. I really like the song before kick off give a buzz but not many going with it. I do think if we all sang from beginning it will give players a lift and stir the away team and fans. Then a massive bluuuuuueeeebirds bluuuuuueeeebirds bluuuuuueeeebirds to follow get place bouncing a bit :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

Even with my awful voice I sing it twice a game. I even bollocked my brother for interrupting me in full voice at the Rotherham game. I wish more would join in it's not difficult. It could become as iconic as YNWA sung at Anfield before games!

To be honest I don't think red seats have made any difference whatsoever!

Completely agree mate, it's the one thing the club are actually giving us, we should embrace it :bluescarf:

Anyone got any bright ideas on how we make this happen??

I not only sing it - I learnt the words well before they were displayed around the stadium :old: :bluescarf:

Re: MEN OF HARLECH

Could be a brilliant sung by 20 odd thousand just before kick off.

Unfortunately a sizeable majority of our fans prefer to be in the concourse drinking whilst staring at the televisions or their mobile phones.

We are no beskitas that's for sure !

Re: MEN OF HARLECH

why don't the people who do sing it , look to there right or left and if the person next to you isn't singing it, just say to them , COME ON MATE THIS IS YOUR TEAM :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Much preferred "simply the best" by Tina Turner

Re: MEN OF HARLECH

I know many on here will have a go but I don't sing it; I hate it! I would prefer everyone sings "Pick and Shovel" very loudly before the game. Thats our song. I dont know what "Men of Harlech" has got to do with us. It might have Welsh connotations, but then lots of songs do. Its just a personal thing. If anything, I'd prefer "Kairdiff born and Kairdiff bred" now that's unique to our city, and thats proper Kairdiff that is.

I sing it as does my father-in-law - block 112 Ninian.

Its a great song and with the clapping really allows everyone to join in.
