I wouldn't care who it was but

You can't have a player, regardless of who he is, dictating terms to a manager, or threatening to leave if he dosen't get picked...absolute bollox if that happened.

Re: I wouldn't care who it was but

Agreed.

Re: I wouldn't care who it was but

Agree about that. I think Daehli's future with us was doomed the minute Solskjaer left. I've been disappointed with Daehli's contribution on the pitch for us. Never really excelled. Ok, you can give it the whole argument that we haven't played a formation to his advantage but surely if a player needs a certain formation to play well then he's not actually that good.

Dictating terms I agree with.

But You cant blame a player for wanting to leave if he isnt being picked.
Slade says he is injured but then says Morrison is getting the nod, then morrison isnt involved and Daehli still isnt.

I find it hard to believe he isnt good enough for the bench but then Slade chose 3 CB's for the bench so I dont take him to seriously.

Corky, All he has said is I need to play football, surely thats what we want to hear from players, not players who just sit there and take their money for doing nothing?

Luke, if Daehli is injured then Slade should stop him playing for Norway this week? ? ?

I can assure you Daehli is fit and raring to go,properly needs now more matches under his belt. :thumbright:

Luke, I know, but this where some honesty is lost and Slade could look bad, up to now, Ive 100% liked the guy.

you do want players who want to play, so fair play to the lad for not acting disinterested and picking up the wages like many other players do.

however, he can only leave if the club sanctions it. we pay him and he's under contract.

The Club want him gone, watch in January, sadly good bye to a quality player/with the perfect attitude.

Slade cannot stop him turning up for country and same with playing! Funny but rules state country can stop him playing for club if country wants him, Its up to club to say he is not fit and advise norway but in that case they can ask their medics to access fitness, but as you point out he says he is fit! Shades of giggs in reverse#.! So for what ever reason Slade feels he is not right to play for city but that does not prevent playing for country!! :old:

PS corky has a point!

Allan, but if our club doctors says hes injured thats the end, then Norway could ask for their Doctor to see him, people are now clutching at straws. This kid is a genuine/good City player now getting to be made to look bad, Sad state of affairs.

Yes good player,

1. Very few assists.
2. Scores no goals.
3. No pace.
4. Easily knocked off the ball.
5. Too small to win arial battles
6. Moans when he's not seleced.

Yes he will be a big loss.

if thats the case it makes no sense to completely freeze him out, that'll only serve to reduce the fee.

I personally would like to see him start against reading and a big shout out for him if he doesn't even make the bench

Re: I wouldn't care who it was but

you have to feel for slade on this one, ole arranged a huge squad, we was never going to be able to keep everyone happy. we got guerra supposed to be a star but you also have le-fondre who, given a chance could finish anything on his day, so its tricky

Its not tricky at all. You have your squad and you give everyone else a free slate. When Le Fudge is not taking his chances you have Guerra on the bench to make an impact. If he is not, you have Maynard the next game. When Noone play like he does you have Daehli on the bench ready to make an impact. If he dosent, you have Burgstaller next in line. When Whittingham dosent play well you have Ralls ready to step up. If he dosent you have Eikrem to make the impact next. It really is very simple to keep competitive places, challenging and develop and keeping consistence at the same time. What he is doing now is not having players compete for places and not getting challenged. He has no impact players on the bench and is less able to change games. Eikrem owned the last game he played and scored a hatrick. Did that get him closer to the first team? Nope, it put him out of the development team. Daehli played very well the last time he started and gave his all when he came on against Forest. Did that get him closer to the team? Nope, he got put out of the squad for 3 CB. And so it keeps going. Slade doesn't know his head from his arse and should be playing bridge at some retirement home. Not manage football :old:
(By the way, this is an example an not a rating of players ;) )

It really depends on how they are playing? Alf is creating chances or having them do its a case of putting ball in net, machaeda just can't take take enough chances he has!

We really haven't done that well have we, since Ipswich. Would be nice with a few players challenging and a way for the players in the team. Not only looking for scrappy wins, but progress as a team. You talk about morale. Probably 77% of our squad is unhappy, and 33% is playing with no one to challenge. How do we progress from that? Even you cant deny we should have given a few players a rest and a few a chance?

Re: I wouldn't care who it was but

Wed Nov 12, 2014 8:17 pm

People complained because OGS was 'tinkering' all the time, and now they complain because Russell Slade has a preferred, smaller, group of players. Either way, it's the manager's perogative to pick the team. The squad is far too big, some are going to lose out. Looks like it's the Norwegians, the Austrian, and the Spaniards. Most of the British players are proven at Championship level. Presumably that's why Slade prefers them. Can't say I disagree with him.
