" HOW MUCH WOULD YOU SELL HIM FOR ? "

Thu Nov 06, 2014 7:29 pm

Matts Daehli looks to heading out the door in January, unfortunate in my opinion as I would like to see him progress and develop his talent at Cardiff.

But if he is going to be sold then how much would you expect to get for Matts ?

Like to see hefty sell on clause that's for sure. :old:

He will go on the cheap and it will be a win for some other club.
Won't get much for him when he is not being played.
Stupid from a business point of view, give it some time and a settled role and we could have a really valuable player on our hands.
Also pretty sure his old club has a good sell on clause on him, we won't see much money.

Chances are he will go to a premier team where they can afford to wait for him to develope! But suppose that will suite him better than being at city. :old:

I'm not convinced clubs will be queuing around the block to sign him - a player of promise - but reading some threads on this forum, you would think he was Messi  Would like to recoup whatever we paid for him.

Is that why he left Man Utd for Molde, and then City 6 months later? I'm sure I remember him saying he came for first team football, and that is what he is looking for.

His stock has gone right down since coming to us.

Anything near £1m we should jump at. However Tan and gang have a reputation of getting what they paid for unless it is a Acorn. Deahli is no Acorn. Going to be interesting this one.

Just voted top 63 talent in the world, so I'm guessing there might be a few at least.

Rather than pay good money for some of the dross we have in the squad......sell them and keep him because he is only a kid and we may have a great player on our hands.

Daehli is a top quality Championship player, could even make Premier League, he is young, established International, I dont want to sell him, so I would want £3-£5million, where you going to get a player of his quality for less? ?

I wouldn't sell but if we are I would think around the 2m mark and it will be another Ramsey mistake. We must have a huge sell on clause as he will be a star.

He's worth £5m, we'll get £2m.

Not sure how he can be referred to as a top championship player. Promised much delivered very little. I had high hopes for him and will be disappointed to see him go. 12 months from now you'll be able to count ole's signings still with us on one hand.

£1m max.

Well I've seen him embarrass a few seasoned proffessionals in some of our games with his work ethic and willingness to get on the ball, even when we were taking a pasting. He is only a kid, lets give the boy a chance, even if its off the bench.

I'd swap him for Jonny Williams tomorrow, the problem is that he has no pace at all which will result in him never reaching the heights. With no pace and a small stature he is a flair player, and we can't cope with another one of those in the championship as he get bullied too easily. Good luck to the lad, looks good when playing for Norway. :bluescarf:

I don't wanna be a conspiracy nut, but believe me, this whole situation is the work of Tan. He have probably figured out that Mats must go because Mats was "Ole's boy". What a soap opera!

If you have good young prospects you dont sell them. You develop them and then you sell them later for four times the money. Think it is nosense selling him, and it is nonsense leaving him out of the squad with 3 CB's on the bench.

Nobody says he is Messi, but he is a good talent and an entertaining kind of player and it is a shame loosing him.

Many players have made it to the top without blustering pace, Mata, Silva the two obvious stars.
He is way off that but it's the type of role he would do well in.

He is only 19, it is not impossible he will develop pace.

I don't think we have the manager or coaching staff to improve him. He may turn into a top player, but it won't be with us unfortunately.

What impressed me most especially last season is when most the squad went missing and we were struggling he would always offer himself for a pass, keep getting on the ball.

The championship is physical but you can fit him into the team with the right people around him.

Tons of them Pirlo has no pace, Zidane or Robin Van Perse. Its their brain and feet that are quick. Zaha is lightening quick but hasn't got the football brain Matts has hence why Matts looked better than him last season in the PL.

Mats has little bursts of acceleration same as the players you mentioned. He will become faster if he gets stronger though although he will never be a speed merchant he is not the finished article physically. You'll have to wait and see how he develops. Id imagine in a few years he will have more bulk to him.

Carl, just to let you know - I heard today that chelsea are interested in him and have spoken to to agent and are willing to pay Cardiff £5m and there are another 2 premiership clubs interested in him.

Richard, Matt, is worth £5mill, plus sell on clauses :thumbright:

I can't see Chelsea going in for him but if they do I think it would be a poor move for him.
They have something like 26 players out on loan at the moment so he certainly wouldn't get a look in there!

I'm a big fan of Daehli & would like Slade to build the team around him. Ravel is a better player at the moment but will be off in a few weeks.
It would be an absolute travesty if we let such a young talent leave our club IMO.
But then again we always do!

Re: " HOW MUCH WOULD YOU SELL HIM FOR ? "

Daehli was the player I was most looking forward to watching back in the Championship, as genuinely thought he would tear this league apart.
Thought he started well, seem to recall him changing the game (I think against Huddersfield) at start of season, when moved in field to play between strikers & midfield during first half.
Think he became a victim of Ole's chopping & changing with system & personnel?
Mats is a quality player, he plays well regularly for his country and they play him where he shows his class.
You don't get rid of your class players, you build your team around them.
Keep him, build his confidence back up and tell any interested parties to jog on! :bluescarf:

he's a good player, but overrated by most city fans IMO.

he has a good touch and has flashes of brilliance, but i can only see us getting about £1.5m on the open market as he's lightweight and doesn't really fit in to a 4-4-2.

he is a good player with promise but has a lot to learn his defensive work is terrible

Nor fitting into a 4-4-2 says more about the manager than him.
