What a prick, Could have killed him with that force. Could he do time?

10 years jail and banned from rugby for life, and that is him getting away lightly
Sat Oct 11, 2014 10:12 pm
Not condoning what he done, but if you watch a few moments before that incident the fella he punched, hit him with a sucker punch that was also out of order and probably deserved a sending off. Bit of retaliation, although there was no need to hit him again when he was already out cold on the floor from the first punch lol. Fuking tough game fairplay, real hard bastards, you wouldn't wanna get on the wrong side of, that's for sure

Shame he was a great player for the crusaders

Incredibly tough game, but there's nothing hard about punching someone on the floor who's already knocked out.

Like I said. Out of order. It was the first punch that did the damage, he seemed to realise he was bang in trouble after that and came to his senses as he was throwing the second punch and pulled out of it a bit, not condoning what he done, but in highly charged situations like that, when youve just been smashed in the face yourself...at the start of the game when you're still fully pumped up, it must be so easy for you to lose your rag, no matter how professional your supposed to be.

If you did that in town on a Saturday night you would be arrested and charged with assult.
Why are the police not calling on that idiot's house this morning and arresting him? Surely there are enough witnesses to what he did?
Is it because it took place during a "sport"? Is it acceptable to punch someone in the face twice just because it's part of a game?
It's true what the y say about rugby I suppose - all the thugs are on the pitch.

they should ban him for life, he's a disgrace to the sport
Sun Oct 12, 2014 4:34 pm
They are mad about rugby league down here in Australia. When that stuff happens here the knocked out bloke says to the press that there's no issue and it's all part of the game. The call it the biff and they love it. Referees let it happen. Players don't mind it. Fans love it and despite pure to evidence, the police don't comment.
It's a bit like the football hooligan question. If two sets of lads are up for it then should it be ok?
Hitting a man who's down is weak as piss though to be fair.

I thought the first punch was an absolute peach, and the fella lance hohaia sort of deserved it for his forearm smash into Ben flowers face moments before when his back was turned. No excuse for the second one, even though he didn't put much into that second punch imo. He pulled out of it just as he was about to bury his head, it looked like to me. The first punch was a show stopper though

f*cking prison are you joking?

That's what egg chasers do. Both codes. Just high jinks, boyo!
Mon Oct 13, 2014 4:44 pm
Just before flower hit him the bloke done a fore arm smash into his jaw............not saying he was right to retaliate.....................but if you give it, don't complain when it comes back.

One of our boys went down for throwing a traffic cone that hit no one, He could have killed the guy with the force he punched him with. Id be sent down if I did this on a Friday night, Why is it different that it's on the pitch? If I did this in the stands at a football match what punishment do you think I would have.
He's a great example to the kids watching.

Rugby union and rugby league are contact sports.........adrenaline is running high, you are coached, especially in the forwards to dominate your oporsition, sometimes with force and big hits. Things happen on the field and boil over, the red mist comes up and people do stupid things. everyone who takes the field knows this and that other player was no angel. He done wrong yes but jail..............jesus Christ.

Ha ha have you ever played somewhere like Merthyr or Gloucester and been under the hammer, with the blood running through your veins, in a bit of a battle.........I doubt it somehow.

Well your mate 'could have' killed someone if the traffic cone had hit someone. If were guna talk ifs and buts.
And no you wouldn't be sent down you'd get a few hours community service with no previous. Different when you start picking weapons up I.e traffic cones.
You never know what the guy had said or done to him previously, rugby players have been punching each other for years it's part of the game, any sane kid watching knows the difference between a game of rugby and a Friday night in town. I agree he should defiantly be suspended and made an example out of but prison? Behave.

People who haven't played can't understand mate. I think half of Wales would be doing life by now if you got a sentence for a few digs.

I'm not saying send him to prison, But it should be treated no different to me doing that at a football match.

I can understand why Flower lashed out the first time, because he got smashed by that late challenge - but he clearly lost his rag to hit the other guy a second time and that was his mistake.
It does annoy me though, that people try and gloss it over as part of the game; had this happened at a football game, the player would be vilified and the sport dragged through the mud.
People will say 'it's a rugby thing' and that the two players will shake hands and go for a pint later etc, but it still doesn't make it right - what about rugby players as role models?

I would say, the rough and tumble of the game and the odd punch up is a big part of what makes it apealing to a lot of fans. Wasn't so long ago that you were garenteed a mass punch up within the first 5 minutes of a rugby game (bit like ice hockey used to be) With body's knocked out left right and centre. It was almost expected lol and was a way for the forwards to stamp their authority early on over the opposition pack, and also the get the crowd pumped up who seemed to love it. Think its only recently since rugby union went professional that they started to outlaw the thugery, which is probably a good thing cos the rugby players are twice the size of what they were
Mon Oct 13, 2014 9:50 pm
For a rugby league final, the intensity for the first 5 minutes was very high, got caught up in a little scrap where he went over the line and made a idiotic choice.
Tue Oct 14, 2014 3:07 pm
Its not the first punch that's the problem, yea that happens alot in RL and RU. Its the second, just no need in it. Prob get a yellow for the first punch.
