' Tan Sri does listen '

Mon Sep 29, 2014 5:46 pm

I was asked yesterday what the link was between Tan Sri Vincent Tan and Glenn Roeder, the link is Mehmet Dalman. Tan Sri speaks to just two people at the club on a daily basis, Dalman and Ken Choo. Though Tan Sri is the ultimate decision maker, he does listen to advice from Dalman and Choo. Since the chairman introduced Roeder to Tan Sri, the former Newcastle manager has earned the respect of our owner as a man who has knowledge of the English game.

Roeder wants the position of Director of Football at Cardiff City and will accept if an offer is made by Tan Sri. It was Glenn Roeder who advised Tan Sri about the attributes of Russell Slade and convinced Tan Sri that Slade is the manager Cardiff City need.

Russell Slade's two and a half year contract offer from Cardiff City includes huge financial incentives based on promotion. Slade's annual salary will rise considerably should he achieve promotion and there is also a one off end of season bonus for promotion also and his basic wage is £120,000 this season.

In the summer Tan Sri spoke about possible compromise of the kit if the club is promoted, the owner would be willing to introduce a red and blue striped kit like FC Barcelona and he believes that the majority of fans would accept this compromise as a way forward.

Sounds to me like roeder saw an opening and took it, choosing the likes of slade as someone who he can easily control and would be open to reporting to a dof. He was hardly going to recommend the likes of Pulis, Lennon, Hughton etc as he would have seen them as bigger names or stronger characters than himself.

Oh and if tan listens then he would turn the kit / badge back and forget this Barcelona nonsense compromise.

Thanks, Staff

Interesting read (and televised interview on Sky with more to follow) ;)

As you can see above, Vincent Tan...damned if he does (listen to "football" people) and damned if he doesn't by a certain few on here!

Staff,

Thank you for the reply to my query as to how Roeder got his foot in the door.

Unfortunately I think that Vincent Tan is still being badly advised. Glenn Roeder has no real standing in the game and has had little or no success as a plyer or as a manager.

To my knowledge he has never been a "Director of Football" at any club and therefore has no experience of doing that job.

It's difficult to see why any weight should be given to any opinion or recommendation made by Glenn Roeder.

Tan Sri may indeed listen.....unfortunately it seems he may be listening to the wrong people.

This with bells on.

Having read simon Jordan's autobiography about his time in charge at Palace , you are left in no doubt that football people are only in it for themselves.

Reeder has no doubt seen an opportunity to feather his nest, and as ever CCFC are rich pickings for these individuals.

Tan once again is being taken for a ride.

It will end in tears.

Thinking about it, perhaps he'd be better off listening to many of the posters on this board as most of them (
 ) have the best interests of the club at heart.

Does the same apply to Glenn Roeder?

Why not, as long as success for the club is success for himself.

Barcelona typed kit would be a compromise and could be seen as a big point in our club's history? New owner can easily then change us back to blue. Wouldn't mind seeing us in stripes :ayatollah:

Cardiff in stripes is just as bad as the red it's alien to us, the only kit I will be happy with is blue home kit , don't want no compromise kits

I worry for your moderator role might be taken away as you are not on the same "wavelength". Might promote bluebird 1977 instead :sad7:

Re: ' Tan Sri does listen '

Mon Sep 29, 2014 8:59 pm

Said it many times that the colour of our shirt we play in is of no importance to me, my username was chosen when we played in blue it was as simple as that, but accept it means a hell of a lot to others.

I had hoped that Tan would eventually back down and go back to blue as branding aside, he has done a hell of a lot of good things for this club especially when you consider how many nightmare owners there have been out there. Deep down though, I have always believed that Tan's cultural background would not allow him to give in and return to blue. His offer of a compromise blue and red stripe shirt is as far as he can be seen to go in his attempt to appeasing the return to blue campaign whilst also accepting that the change to red hasn't worked.

Unfortunately Tan is way off here believing that a compromise shirt will have any affect on the return to blue campaign and its such a shame considering what Tan could have done for this club going forward that he will inevitably now leave us simply because he cannot publicly admit that he made a wrong business decision.

And why would he believe that the majority of fans would accept a striped kit? The man has shown no respect for our traditions (which mean everything to most of the fans) . So now he's convinced that Cardiff City fans would accept a Barcelona kit, after he was convinced that Cardiff City fans would love a Man Utd style kit??

Here's a novel idea, one which may gain universal acceptance.....how about Cardiff City having a Cardiff City style kit? It may just work!

Just seen the interview with Tan - So he says that MM & OLE were not his choices as manager

OLE was a Dalman choice i would say from the way he went on and on how happy he was when OLE signed.

As for MM - How deluded can Tan be for not saying he said Yes to the only manager to have got us to the Premier League :?:
Oh yes i remember now he wanted to talk to Alan Shearer - before agreeing to MM,after terms were already agreed !!

Tan will never get it will he he can shove the compromise up his arse why would we want that he only ever wanted red to suite himself and his own culture never stopped to think about us .
The man continues to annoy me the sooner he goes the better

compromise???

Too late for that, it has to be a royal blue shirt with a bluebird on it's crest

The sooner he sells up the better
