Russell Slade has not resigned as Leyton Orient manager, he has not been offered the position of manager at Cardiff City either. However Slade is in the frame but there have been no talks between Slade and Tan Sri Vincent Tan.

Dave Jones is another in the running and has spoken with Tan Sri over a return to the club and it is the owners intention to bring the former manager back into the fold. Tan Sri is pursuing Jones but it appears that Jones is not overly positive in returning in the position of advisor that is being considered.

Kevin Cooper is not in the running for the job, Cooper and Tan Sri did not have the best working relationship while Cooper was at the club before departing for Servette.

The management team for Tuesday's cup match versus Bournemouth will be Scott Young and Danny Gabbidon.

Interesting, my view is that the sacking of Ole was unexpected by Tan and no replacement had been discussed prior, hmm

Agree, tan wasn't intending on sacking him he literally just backed him in the transfer market with manga a few weeks ago.
I reckon ogs left because of poor results in the last few games but I also don't think ogs wanted a director of football above him. "Differences in football philosophy" was real IMO.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's another week to ten days before we appoint someone.

Re: ' Latest on CCFC manager target '

I think your right, tan didn't expect Ole to go, and didn't have anything in place yet. Wouldn't be suprised if Ole make quick decision to leave when he realised fans had turned against him, and booed him at the end of games. Also didn't his car get keyed? Thought he'd better get out whilst he still had a reputation to save. God knows who we are going to get now. I am just hoping that all the names knocked around are a PR trick to make fans panic, so we end up being relieved that Dave Jones takes over. A clever ploy Mr Tan.

That is my take on it as well, the director of football was something I suspect Ole didn't want but it seems Tan does.

I think we are in for a surprise on new manager.
I hope names given is just a smokescreen.
Would not expect anything else in our club.
Expect the unexpected.
After all it is Cardiff City after all

What's that about Ole's car being keyed? Well out of order, if true.

Don't think it had much to do with fans, I suspect he was under pressure already due to lack of results but tan would have given him a bit more time. But tans decision to bring in a director of football, reshape the power structure may have pushed him to go earlier than tan expected.

Thomas, was Ole sacked or did he walk (as stated in the media)? :?

My understanding was that it was recommended to Tan that it was time to pull the plug on Ole, as he was so obviously out of his depth. However, it would appear that Ole instigated the contract termination after the Middlesbrough game and it was agreed with Dalman and Tan the following day

Both men (Dalman and Tan) were exceptionally appreciative of Ole's honesty and integrity and that is why they still view him so highly as a man (and I can't argue with that!) as he effectively saved them the ugly task that was becoming inevitable

I am certainly not ITK on this and your comments would (s always) be appreciated  :ayatollah:

Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade believes Cardiff City have requested permission to speak to him, but is yet to find out the decision of that from club owner Francesco Becchetti.

Slade went from 33/1 yesterday morning to odds on favourite come the evening to take charge of the Bluebirds following their decision to replace Ole Gunnar Solkjaer following a poor start to the Championship season.

And Slade is pleased his work at the O’s has been recognised, but ‘remains in the dark’ as to whether permission has been granted to speak to the Welsh club.

“It is nice to be associated with such a big club like that.,” said Slade.

“It is a huge club but I am very proud they have seen the good work that we have done at the football club.

“I think they may have requested permission to talk to me but I am uncertain and a little in the dark as to the response to that situation at the minute.”

But if Slade doesn’t move on to the Bluebirds, he is confident things will improve between him and Becchetti.

“I am sure if I am to stay at the football club thing will improve, there is no doubt about that,” he added.

“You have to have a game plan going forward you have to work together. That’s all part and parcel of it.”

Slade also insisted he remained happy at Leyton Orient, and would continue to give his best for the club if no move away materialises.

“I have been very happy. I’ve been happy here since April 2010 and I have always given my best for the football club and I expect my players to always give their best whether it’s my first game or my last game.

Vincent Tan will spend the next 24 hours discussing the identity of the new City gent with trusted football aides, although Slade has jumped to the head of the queue after confirming the Bluebirds had made an approach to his club Leyton Orient. As yet no contact has been made.

What makes me worry Sven is that the termination of the contract of Ole might not of been instigated by the hierachy as i just assumed it was, just when you think they are finally beginning to wake up to the reality that Ole was rubbish and wanting to sort the club out, this has hit me for six tonight, in shock

tbh think he new his time was up as i said before its ok to swap and change team but not at beginning of season! you firstly got to be established playing pattern then introduce rotation gradually especially, in champ its is a good policy and we do have squad to implement it but not in way ole set about it! unfortunately he was doomed to fail. as for wade i think it may be what city need someone who is here for long term rather than a quike fix in pulis or lennon, after all cannot see us as relegation candidates who ever is in charge. so why not go with a new face at least he knows the score unlike ole.

If there is choppy water ahead for the club, we need someone who is experienced enough to deal with it, I can't help leaning towards Slade as the right man for the job, I also think you are right that more high profile managers are less likely to stick around for the long term.:bluescarf: :bluescarf:
