' Back to Blue '

Sat Sep 06, 2014 10:25 am

Unsure if anyone missed this is the Hudson interview. Captains words - "I have heard talk that the decision will be made to change back to blue and I really hope that is the case".

Now that does sound impressive for next season :ayatollah:

There has been rumours doing the rounds around the Club.

Tan has kept his distance from the club for the last couple of months.

I really would like to know whats going on in his head? :bluescarf:

Hope so, better to come out with the decision now rather than at the end of the season! Would give the club a whole lift!

That won't happen.

The decision will be made at the end of the season when the season ticket price freeze is over.

Still in the Championship and we will revert to blue as the club will need positivity so fans will renew.

Up in the Premier League and we will remain red as the fans will buy up tickets whatever the shirt colour.

It would be a huge lift for the fans and the team, plus lots of Tans weird actions would soon be forgotten/forgiven
Until the next one :?

Why would he spend so much on red seats if a change was on the way.
Makes no sense and is just wishfull thinking that the prick is going to wise up

If the club returned to blue there is no doubt that the club would benefit financially from the extra income from merchandise. What benefits do we currently generate by playing in red? Is the kit flying off the shelves in The Far East? Probably not.

The club must have seen a dramatic drop in their sales since we were changed to red. Many fans like myself no longer go into the club shop.

I think you have a valid point. I have posted before about my views of VT wanting to advertise his shopping mall with a big red dragon rollercoaster ride. This would be after he has floated the club on an Asian stock exchange, but retained a controlling stake, requiring the club to be in the EPL. Therefore, I wouldn't rule out VT giving us false hope by changing us back to blue to unite the fans and aid in the promotion back to the EPL, then returning to red next August.

I would think replica shirts do not account for much income in comparison to sponsorship, TV revenue and ST's

Let's be over optimistic and say we sell 20,000 home shirts. Mainly kids so let's say £40 a pop.

£800k and that's not all profit.

i dont think you can change kits, but if you just wear away as home surely no rules against that :ayatollah:

I appreciate your point but does anyone really know by how much if any at all has the change to red benefited the club.

Just like the benefit of going back to blue and its affect on replica shirt sales. The move to red has had no benefit.

Tan probably thought it would sell the club more in China but short of a major investment coming in, it hasn't helped.

Annis, I mentioned my discussion with Mehmet Dalman, at the Fulham game, that he indicated this might be the case - hope it's true - would be great all round :bluescarf:

Re: ' Back to Blue '

A few Questions on this matter - I would be curious to see what Annis' / other mod's views are on this too.

1) IF we did return to blue for next year BUT kept the badge as it currently is (The "compromise" Tan alluded to maybe?) Would you accept that, and could you live with that?

Personally I could - we've had badge changes in the past, and despite the "Fire and Passion" element, I think I prefer the current one over Sam's St David's crest.....its does show out welsh identity in a way no longer shown on our shirts since the welsh flag was dropped, and with the bluebird being on a blue shirt, it does maintain our Cardiff identiy....maybe just tweek it to make the bird 10 - 20% bigger on the crest?

2) Would you see the odd few people wearing "old red" gear - shirts / tops / polos / hats / scarves etc would you see them as being antagonistic or "anti Cardiff city"?

Again, personally I would just see it as being "retro" and it would not bother me as like it or not, the red is part of CCFC history.... I certainly would feel no need to comment or make a snyde remark to them.

I've previously admitted to buying the red to keep my "shirt collection" going, or getting CCFC gear to use in work - but I'm a "reluctant red", and would very very much like top see us back in the blue....as would we all I'm sure. If it means blue but keeping the badge as is, its one I can live with!

Just a few questions....the 1st one especially!

Annis, it has always been my opinion that continued attacks on Tan would have the opposite effect to what was wanted by ALL the club's paying supporters

If true, this apparent 'softening' of approach from Tan might just be the result of a similar 'softening' from paying supporters, since the revelations about Malky, the great squad assembled in the summer, and the realisation that (blue apart until now) the guy might just have the "best interests" of Cardiff City FC at heart, even if his ambitions simply tie in with his own personal agenda

I guess we will have to wait and see, but there HAS already been talk of some compromise on colour for next season and us fans need to be patient, if we are to encourage Tan to "go the whole Hog"

Keep up the 19:27 show of defiance and cut out the personal abuse and we just might be at the start of something good on the colour front! :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :notworthy:

Not really. If we return to blue I would like to see a redesigned badge. Something that eliminates the memory of the rebrand.

You can't change history but you can eliminate it from your memory bank. I personally wont say anything just like I don't say anything now unless I am asked.

Look what happened at Coventry City last night, back home & they attract more than 27000 fans back to the Ricoh, surely a return to Blue would have a similar effect on fans returning, both old & new. It make financial sense.

I'm not saying I'd forget what Tan had done but I'd be willing to forgive and move on if he turned us back to blue. It makes business sense if anything so he'd be stupid not to. I wouldn't be f*cking singing his name from the rooftops though. I just wouldn't despise the c**t as much as I do now! :D :ayatollah:

Chris, in the Summer, I spoke at length to a a Senior City Director close to Tan and he told me to do the nice/softly approach, thats why I have virtually laid of Tan and am willing to give him respect, if he gives us it. :thumbright:

And yes this Forum is read by all his staff and passed on to him anything worth while :thumbright: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:
