What is our strongest line up?

Mon Aug 25, 2014 8:41 am

Only thing I am certain about at the moment is Marshall in goal! Seriously, we need a leader in the side, whether that be Hudson or another strong minded person. He must be guarenteed his place in the side, is that person Hudson, not sure. What I thought would be a weakness, our defence, has done ok so far, although we are only 3 games into the season. What has disappointed me has been our midfield play. It is fine having a strong attack but we must have the right players in midfield to create the opportunities for our forwards. We have not seen Dikcagoi yet but can he play with Adeyemi as they come across as similar players. Then we have Daehli, Whittingham, Noone, Pilkington, Eikrem and Gunnarson, not to forget Kim Bo Kyung. If we get the right balance in midfield we will do ok. For me the midfield is key. At the moment I would go for the following.

Marshall
Fabio Morrison Hudson Brayford
Noone. Whittingham. Adeyemi. Daehli
Jones. Le Fondre

My worry would be being lightweight in midfield. Obviously when Craig Noone returns we will create more.
Questions, where will Dikcagoi fit in to the midfield? Is there another centre half in the pipeline? Probably more questions than answers. Plenty of debate here for a bank holiday. :D

Marshall
Brayford
Morrison

Hudson, Connolly and Fabio all make me feel nervous.
Fabio gets away with making mistakes because he looks good on ball - very dangerous

Daelhi
Whittingham
Adeyemi
PIlkington/Gunnars

Up front all I know is Maynard wont score anywhere near 20 unless he gets fitter.
Jones clearly is a good big man in this division
Macheda, Guerra, Le Fondre is a head ache

This is what I would love to see !
The players have to be well drilled and disciplined defensively to play this but we have the players to make it work IMO :ayatollah:
Doesn't really matter who the striker is but I believe macheda is the best striker at the club .

Team for me would be

Marshall
Fabio/John
Hudson
Morrison
Brayford (although I'd prefer to recall kevin)
Noone/Daehli
Digakoi
Whitts
Pilkington
Jones
Le Fondre

I think all fit and on form Ole would be looking at:

Marshall
Brayford Morrison Cala Fabio
Pilkington Dikgacoi Adeyemi Whitts
Macheda Guerra
----------------------------------
Moore, Turner, Gunnarson, Noone, Dæhli, Le Fondre, Jones.

A great team when you think:

Moore
Connoly Hudson John
Kim Eikrem Ralls Burgstaller
Maynard

Don't even make the bench, a 27 man squad showing real options.

Don't see why people are playing Adeyemi in a midfield four.

4-1-3-2.

Marshall.

Brayford Morrison Connolly Fabio.

Adeyemi.

Pilkington Whittingham Noone.

Jones Maynard.

That would be my strongest 11.

Like this option, Maybe noone for daehli when fit. And a toss up between guerra and mancheda Le fondre as an option to come on. Bench would have great options too.

I don't think that whitts is suitable to a 4 man midfield so if we were going with 442 I'd drop him.

Good line up too. Shows how much strength and depth we have and the different options we have.

Previous seasons we would all be picking pretty much the same xi..

Imagine this side with noone in for daehli. Incredible.

More to the point, does OGS know the strongest line-up?

From what I've seen I don't understand how Maynard has started as many times as he has.

Thomas put daehli as a no 10. Don't really think you can have noone in for daehli as no 10. Noone is not a no 10 type.
