Cardiff City star Kim Bo-Kyung set to turn down move to Celtic FC
Aug 20, 2014
The Scottish giants tabled an offer for the South Korean but he is keen to stay in Cardiff, with the Bluebirds happy for him to stay

Cardiff City star Kim Bo-Kyung is set to turn down an approach from Scottish giants Celtic.

The Bhoys contacted the Bluebirds about a potential move for the South Korean midfielder, but it is understood he is not interested in the switch.

Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is happy to keep Kim in his squad, despite the 24-year-old finding himself someway down the midfield pecking order at Cardiff City Stadium.

Solskjaer has signed midfielders Anthony Pilkington, Tom Adeyemi, Kagisho Dikgacoi and Guido Burgstaller this summer, while the likes of Peter Whittingham, Aron Gunnarsson, Craig Noone and Mats Daehli all seem set to play important roles this year.

Kim has shown much promise since joining from Cerezo Osaka two years ago but has struggled to find a consistent level of performance.

It remains to be seen if he will stay at the club long-term, with the summer transfer window due to shut on September 1.

The South Korean international has made 60 appearances for Cardiff during the past two seasons, scoring three goals, but he is yet to feature in the Bluebirds' Championship fixtures this season.

Celtic are in talks to sign midfielder Kim Bo-kyung from Cardiff

Celtic are in talks with Kim Bo-Kyung

Hours after his former team mate Jordon Mutch tweeted about his displeasure at Kim being left out of the Cardiff team to face Wigan, it appears Scottish giants Celtic are set to make a move.

MailOnline say Celtic are in talks for the South Korean World Cup midfielder, who they tried to sign before Cardiff snapped him up in 2012.

Kim's lack of Championship action so far this season would appear to suggest he's surplus to requirements at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Kim bo has been a real disappointment for me. When we signed him we beat off competition from Dortmund for him and I genuinely thought we had a real talent on our hands. He plays 1 good game every 10. The sooner he's off our wage bill the better for me.

Pretty happy about this tbh, extremely inconsistent and feels like we are playing with 10 men when he is on the pitch 99% of the time.

Think its for the best, he just doesn't seem to fit in the team so hes just going to get wasted

He's either very good or very poor. So inconsistent. Tough one but we have other good midfielders so not too bothered if he leaves. :ayatollah:

Hope he doesn't go we where boasting how strong our Squad is before but if we lose him same as KTC i feel its a player we need KTC was back up right back and Kimbo is a back up winger or can sit behind the striker if we switch to 4-5-1 stop selling players we need and loaning them out Ole

It has to happen.

Our squad is too big and if the.people leaving are the likes of KTC, Limbo & Hudson then we still have quality back ups for the 1st team.

Saying that I want Hudson to stay.

I have no problem with Hudson leaving, he's been fantastic but he needs to be playing at his age and Morrison looks like a better long-term bet. However, I would be surprised if they let Hudson go without a replacement whilst Turner is injured.

If he goes at the moment we will only have Connolly, Morrison and Cala as centre backs and I can't see OGS letting that happen.

I think we could see this coming, kim-Bo, overall has been a disapointment, he has undoubtedly got talent, but is not consistent enough with that talent. He just isnt going to get enough games to justify his wage. So thanks for everything KIm-Bo and good luck with Celtic or where ever you end up

l was a huge fan of kimbo when he first come in but lately hes not been up for the fight I think its more mental with him hes struggling with the culture and his performances are poor or not as good as any of our other midfielders as for hudson he was the rock and for me 1 of the better players in our promotion 2yrs ago he can still do a job but at his age he needs games so I wouldnt stand in his way and wish them both the best if they did go and again trims 40k off the wage bill

Maybe Ole has got someone lined up to come in? A loan signing maybe? I know Michael Keane has been ruled out, but maybe someone else?

I would like Kim to stay, offers somethig different think he can be a tidy player. But Ole seems to really like big players most signings are over 6ft - Morrison, Jones, Burgstaller, Pilkington, Adeyemi, Macheda, Dickgacoi....even Berget was over 6ft.

Daehli may be another one who could struggle in this league - similar player in a way to Kim. Low gravity, great ball skills but lightweight. :?:

I know where you coming from, but Daehli's got a lot more to his game than Kim, who i think didn't quite adapt to our game, often being bullied off the ball, & giving it away to easily.

He is talented, but not done much for us, at his age he shouldn't just be a squad player. SPL is crap though, he is too good for that league, he would be much better off going to Spain.

All I'd like to add to that Annis is............... f**k off Mutch and mind your business, you didn't want to be here so do one. As for Kimbo.... honestly think we could let him go with the players we have. Good luck Kimbo.

Saw this one coming a mile off.

I've seem moments of inspiration, interspersed by episodes of ineffectual mediocrity. Such a pity. Promises so much but delivers too little for me.

Hudson is another matter though!! He is a leader as well as being a solid player. Will be greatly missed on and off the field.
