A forum for all things Cardiff City

Since he´s still Cardiff´s property, I thought you would be interested in reading how Celtic fans see his performance after the 6-1 clash against Dundee yesterday. His loan spell ends in January, and at that time we could have a player back with Champions League experience. So, here is some cherry picking from a Celtic forum:
”Give me joy in my heart, give me Berget.”
”All round great play, Berget is a find if he can keep that up, great awareness.”
”Berget has me excited. His link-up play was excellent.”
”Berget always available.”
”Berget looks like he'll be some player for us, would play him up front with 3 feeding off him for Wednesday.”
”Berget really looks a player.”
”Berget, Izzy and either or Commons or Stokes creating those beautful, fluid wee triangles, fabulous, fecking fabulous!”
”Berget looks a really intelligent player and got into good positions for his goals.
”I've gone from thinking Berget was a horrendous signing to considering getting my hair like his based on that 90 minutes.”
”His work rate was excellent.”
”Also very impressed with Berget who looks a really intelligent player.”
”Berget was very good”
”I thought Berget was really promising”
”Berget looks good.”
”Berget was great too”
”If Berget's shot had went in at the end of that move it would have been goal of the season.”
”Berget - Looks useful, linking well and pressurising the opposition when they're on the ball. Unlucky not to get a hat-trick today.”
”Berget looks like a solid acquisition, hard working, neat and effective.”
”Berget looked impressive”
”Berget has all the physical attributes we've been lacking in that position and can also play - he wouldn't be a bad shout to play through the middle, either.”

Can't be the same Jo Inge Berget that OGS brought here can it? Lol.
Looked way out of his depth every time ive seen him. Even in the DVP team

Its easy to produce free flowing wee triangles when you are going around the wooden trees that play for other clubs in Scotland.

You really think so? I thought he looked alright in pre-season. Let him have some games under his belt at Celtic, and he might become useful for us second half of the season. I reckon Ole brought him here for a reason. He´s only 23, so he might very well develope into a good player. He has the right attitude. Or we could sell him of course, and I´m sure Celtic would pay more for him than we did

Dundee is expected to be the runner-up this season, but sure, it´s not PL or Bundesliga. Would be interesting to see him in CL, though.

It was Dundee United & until a few days ago they were not being tipped to be runner up - and after yesterday they'll need to do plenty to even challenge for top 3

10 million should do the job for having stolen Matthews and Ledley off us.

Berget is a good player with a great attitude. Both Solskjær and Deila (Celtic manager) have signed him twice. He certainly has a lot to offer in the Championship, but Cardiff have too many forwards. Someone had to go.

Seems a nice lad and a tidy player.
But think him and Kiss have found their level.

I
think Celtic now have the 'right to buy' now. So if Celtic want to buy him at the end of his loan term there is nothing we can do about it. You might expect that their right to buy fee may be a wee bit low considering he has hit form, but that is me making a total guess.
Perhaps Ole should suggest a player swap instead before the end of this window. If KTC were to move on then maybe we could make room for a RB they have who has been pushed out of their first 11...???

Berget - Premiership v Berget - SPL?
There's no competition! I'd sell now, £1m and he's theirs

See my post above. Celtic now have the 'right to buy' at the end of the season. Time is money, so it is in their interest to invest the tranfer fee on someone else. That said we could tempt them to purchase early via a player swap...
Hmmm...

It shows how bad Celtic and the Scottish League is now .........

Looked good in DVP last season and had a good preseason. Hopefully he will improve even more at his time at Celtic and come back a better player for it.
I never understand why people will slag off players who go out on loan... He's still our player.
Sun Aug 17, 2014 4:06 pm
Out of interest, does anyone know how the loan with an option to buy works?
- are we tied in to letting him go for an already agreed price at the end of the loan should Celtic take up the offer?
Sun Aug 17, 2014 4:20 pm
Its the SPL ffs not LaLiga i could look like Ronaldo in that league its pathetic there's championship and League one players that totally flop and go up there for a confidence boost bloody hell you remember that Stokes in the championship he was bloody rubbish yet their talking about him playing triangles up there
Sun Aug 17, 2014 4:50 pm
I watched the highlights, he's a spl player at best!
Sun Aug 17, 2014 5:32 pm
I agree, its nice that he does well but the problem is we don't need players in his position.
Sun Aug 17, 2014 5:35 pm
They won 6-0 I think everyone on their team played well
Sun Aug 17, 2014 5:42 pm
I think Celtic have the 'right to buy' for an undisclosed fee at the end of his loan term at Xmas. So if they are going to buy anyway it suits us that we get the money earlier.
So if Celtic want him and can pay the contractually agreed fee, I don't think we can stop him making his move permanent.
Hopefully the agreed fee is good for us.

Gavin rae was made to look good in the scotish leagues lets be honest its a piss poor standard most the teams got div 1-2 players in
Sun Aug 17, 2014 6:06 pm
You could stick any football league striker who can hit the target in a team 3 leagues ahead of their competition and they will score goals look good and even improve and gain confidence

Jo Inge Berget happy to prove his worth to Celtic fans
Jo Inge Berget is hoping his double in Celtic’s 6-1 Scottish Premiership thrashing of Dundee United on Saturday signalled that his Parkhead career is up and running after a false start.
The Norway international was surprisingly pitched into the first-leg of the Champions League third qualifier against Legia Warsaw in Poland last month by manager Ronny Deila only a couple of days after signing a six-month loan deal from Cardiff.
The 23-year-old forward looked out of sorts along with his equally hapless team-mates and was eventually substituted after just an hour of the 4-1 defeat.
He was left out the starting line-up in the next two games but returned against United where his brace washed away his Warsaw woes which he put down, in part, to not knowing the names of his team mates.
“As a footballer you always want to play,” said Berget.
“The manager asked me and I told him I was ready for it, and I was.
“I don’t think anybody really had their best game there (Warsaw).
“So it is easy to say the new guy had only trained a couple of times, but things could have gone the other way as well.”
“I thought I was ready for it but of course it is easier when you know the names of the players you play with.”

^^This.
He's better than Maynard who I expected to go, but Berget has had really bad luck and always been in overcrowded squads since his time at Udinese, I think Ole would feel guilty giving him a game only every third match or so for another consecutive season. Loaning him out was the right thing to do for his own development.

Berget has found his level, pure and simple. Scots Prem and top end of the Championship is a BIG difference.
