Football correspondent Terry Phillips has been assessing what the Bluebirds need to do to improve from the opener...
Here's his five-point plan...
1: Anthony Pilkington must supply the width Cardiff need
2: Sean Morrison and AN Other is required in defence
3: Give the ball to Mats, at every opportunity
4. Let’s see Adam Le Fondre in an out-and-out striking role
5: Solskjaer’s South African destroyer needs to make his mark.
More here.

Little more than five minutes until we expect young Tom Adeyemi to walk through the door and provide us with wonderful quotes.
Meanwhile, here is our latest fans' view column from Scott Johnson who passionately argues the Bluebirds need a united fan base.

We are enquiring as to the reason for the delay. We are quietly confident Pilkington deal is done and ready to be announced. Sean Morrison is less certain at this stage but he was here last night for talks.

Some news....although not what we were hoping for
No signings to be unveiled today, we are now told and they’ve just changed the player so it won’t be Tom Adeyemi.
Adam Le Fondre has just entered the room.

How many goals will you score?
Le Fondre: "I think I’ll be double figures, given the opportunities I know I’ll score goals if I’m given chances.
"I think any footballer joining any football club wants to be held in high esteem, I want to be success here, I want to win things and I want to get back to the Premier League."

More from Le Fondre...
I scored goals in the Premier League and when I started for Reading I scored.
Now I want to get back to the Premier League and prove I can do it from the start.
The club have showed intent this summer with the signings to get automatic promotion straight away.

On being played out of position at Blackburn...
I just want to play, obviously I want to play up front. Hopefully I’ll get game time and from there I’ll get goals.
We’ve got that one aim and that’s promotion, by hook or by crook we’ve got to agree on that.
9:45AM
Le Fondre on Solskjaer...
He was my hero growing up, we’ve spoken a lot and he’s given me lots of advice and hopefully he can help me improve.
It was a little bit strange when you look across and you see your idol there, but I’m here to do a job.
9:47AM
What can you tell us about Bluebirds target Sean Morrison?
He’s a brilliant player. He’s a young, hungry centre-half and he’s comfortable on the ball.
He defends first but he’s comfortable on the ball, and that’s good because then we can start attacks from the back.
I think people will be dying to work for OGS, I certainly was. Hhis experience and his history is brilliant, he’s got a great pedigree.

More from Le Fondre on playing with Kenwyne Jones...
I’ve always played a big man, little man strike partnership, I’ve no preference which type of striker I play with but having a big man up there to smash people about is a good thing for me!
When Kenwyne is fully fit he’s unstoppable and I think he’ll be a massive asset for us this season.
I think if an on-form Kenwyne Jones is unstoppable, he’s 6ft 4inr and 8ft wide!
For someone like me playing off it’ll be great because there will be two defenders worrying about Kenwyne and they’ll just let me run around hopefully!

I don’t think many people give the championship enough credit, it’s such a battle.
Teams will chase you and harass you. We know what is required and getting things right on a weekly basis is going to be key.
9:52AM
That's your lot from Adam Le Fondre, who, by the way, speaks at roughly 4,000 words-a-minute!
Ole should be coming in shortly
Fri Aug 15, 2014 9:10 am
10:04AM
What's the latest on Anthony Pilkington?
Ole: Hopefully when you walk out of here it will all be signed, just a couple of details left.
We haven’t got the registration for any of the two boys but hopefully it will be done by 12 o'clock
Fri Aug 15, 2014 9:14 am
10:05AM
The aim is to get them in before 12 o'clock so we can have a look at them in training and maybe put them in for the Huddersfield game.

On Sean Morrison...
We’ve had injury and big Ben is going to be out for a good three months which is a devastating blow for us.
To last in this league we need centre-backs.
I’ve always said I wanted a centre back. I watched Sean and he caught my eye against Wigan and he did really well and I think he’s the kind of centre back you need.
Fri Aug 15, 2014 9:15 am
10:08AM
Solskjaer on his new signings...
They’ve got experience playing in this league and that’s what we need.
All the reports I’ve had from people I know that have worked with them tell me about good people and good players.
I asked Alfie (Le Fondre) about Morrison because you don’t know about the personality, but you speak to the players because they know each other.
If you get a bad vibe then you don’t get them in.

Will anyone be leaving?
There will be one or two going out, some on loan, but at the moment we don’t have any outgoings as of yet.
Fri Aug 15, 2014 9:16 am
10:10AM
What about Huddersfield, then?
They did really well, turning the game against Chesterfield to turn things around so, of course, that gives them a boost.
We watched them in pre-season, the first league game on Tuesday and it’s a completely different set-up, so you don’t know what you’re going to get.

Solskjaer on team selection...
We’ve got to play so much better than we did against Blackburn, especially with the ball.
The determination and attitude was great but that only takes you so far. I wasn’t happy with the distribution and passing.
I was delighted on Wednesday night, the players were hungry for the ball. A couple of those players really did make me think about Saturday.
I’ve decided that a few of them did well enough to play.
Fri Aug 15, 2014 9:17 am
10:12AM
Injury news?
Javi Guerra has been training but he just wasn’t fit enough to play on Wednesday. Macheda has also been training.
We’re looking pretty good but Ben and Nooney are the long-term injuries.

More on Turner...
Ben turner, He’s been fantastic and he’s a great personality to have arund in the dressing room. He knows this league more than anyone.
I was looking to him as one of my leaders this year, but he’ll come back.

Are you happy with your squad?
It’s a good squad and I’m very happy with the squad.
It’s more important that we have that Championship experience and consistency, turning up and earning the right to win these games is what it’s about.
I’ve got characters who have done it in the league before, some of them have Premier League quality so hopefully we can be challenging.

Your football philosophy?
For me, when you play football you have to create your own atmosphere.
I want to see players who have not been tainted too much by the glamour, they want to go out and improve and be good footballers, want to develop.
Fri Aug 15, 2014 9:21 am
10:16AM
Could you sign Danny Gabbidon?
Danny asked to come in and train with us.
He’s an ex-player and we wanted to give him a chance to get fit.
You never know in football, but with Sean coming in I don’t think so.

Tell us about Jazzi Barnum-Bobb?
He’s caught my eye in some of the u21s games, hes got the engine and the physique of a full back.
He’s a bright lad and his debut was very, very good.
He made the headlines in the right way because he played really well.

And finally, Mark Robins was sacked as Huddersfield manager after one game, now Pulis has gone. What are your thoughts?
It’s just the industry we’re in, you’re never sure what’s around the corner.
For me I cannot comment on what’s been happening, you’ve just got to plan long time and try to get results short term.

That's it from Solskjaer...The headlines are:
* Sean Morrison and Anthony Pilkington should both be Cardiff City players by Noon today.
* That means they will both be available for tomorrow's match
* Danny Gabbidon is highly unlikely to be signed despite training with the club
* Some players will be leaving in the next couple of weeks
* Cardiff will make changes for Huddersfield, with some of the players who played on Wednesday winning starting spots
Fri Aug 15, 2014 9:27 am
Pleased with that.
Good that he's managed to sign the two new players in time for Saturday.
Relieved that he won't be signing Danny Gabbidon.
Will be interesting to see which players from Wednesday start.
Would expect Harris and maybe Ralls to go out on loan.
