Cardiff City have announced the signing of Tom Adeyemi. The highly-rated central midfielder links up with the Bluebirds from Birmingham City for an undisclosed fee. :ayatollah:

Twenty-two year old Tom completed his medical, prior to putting pen to paper on a three-year deal at Cardiff City Stadium. He will train with the Bluebirds on Thursday morning, ahead of travelling with Ole Gunnar Solskjær and his new teammates to Blackburn for Friday evening’s opening 2014/15 Sky Bet Championship fixture.

Born in Norwich, Tom began his professional career with Norwich City in 2008 as a 17 year old, prior to experiencing loan spells at Bradford City, Oldham Athletic and Brentford in subsequent seasons. He signed a permanent deal with Birmingham ahead of the 2013/14 season, making 40 appearances for a Blues side that for a short spell featured fellow new Bluebird, Federico Macheda.

Speaking exclusively to Cardiff City Player after completing his move, Tom said: “From the outside looking in, Cardiff City has a very strong squad that will challenge for a quick return to the Premier League this season.

“I took no persuading from the Manager to come here. It was a fantastic opportunity for me to work with somebody like him and to play for a club like Cardiff City. I’m very pleased that everything has been completed ahead of the season and now I can focus on fighting for a place in the side and helping us get the season off to a great start.”

Apparently he arrived last night to discuss terms and has agreed to sign for us. Will be confirmed as soon as this medical has been passed.
Can't see him jumping straight into the starting 11 at Blackburn but I think he will be on the bench :ayatollah:

Really hope he does well for us. Like the fact that he WANTS to play for us rather than potentially being a bit part player in the Prem. Good on him.

The 22-year-old has signed a three-year deal at Cardiff City Stadium to complete his £1m switch.

Only £1m ?! :)

Hopefully we can splurge (correctly) on a bigger name CB as that's the missing piece of the puzzle for me.

What I like about Adeyemi is that he has wanted to sign for us since our first interest.

The deal was done very quickly and he wasted no time getting to Cardiff to get the deal done.

My Brum mate reckons he could have held out and got a move to the premier league either later in this transfer window or in January. He mentioned that Tom would run through a brick wall - well it seems he has to sign for us.

Seems exactly the kind of player we need.

Welcome Tom.

He'll be a fans fave and captain by the end of the season! Seems like he has great passion. Hopefully see some of those smashing tackles we expected from 'El pitbul' exactly the type of player Whitts needs beside him. So hopefully see the best of him too!

Birmingham City: Tom Adeyemi's Cardiff move 'gutting' - Lee Clark

Birmingham City manager Lee Clark says the club "did everything" to try and keep midfielder Tom Adeyemi.
The 22-year-old was sold to Cardiff City on Thursday, only two days after he handed in a formal transfer request.
Adeyemi joined the Blues in June 2013 having been released by Norwich, and went on to play 40 games last season.

Clark 'in no rush' to replace Adeyemi
"I'm gutted that we've lost one of the most powerful, talented midfielders in this league. We tried everything to keep him within our means," said Clark.
"But he wanted to leave, so the club got the best deal we could - it's a very, very good deal for a player with only a year left on his contract."
Birmingham's Championship rivals Cardiff moved for Adeyemi shortly after the sale of Jordon Mutch to Queens Park Rangers for £6m - another player the Bluebirds signed from St Andrew's.
Born in Norwich, Adeyemi progressed through his hometown club's academy and later worked with Clark during the Birmingham boss's time on the coaching staff at Carrow Road.
Tom Adeyemi at a glance
Started his career with Norwich as a trainee making 17 first-team appearances
He spent most of his career at Carrow Road out on loan making more than 100 appearances during spells at Bradford, Oldham and Brentford.
Scored three goals in 40 games in his only season with Birmingham City
"I've known Tom since he was a 14-year-old and I brought him here as an unknown quantity," Clark told BBC WM 95.6.
"I think there's a potential Premier League player in there, but now we move on. Other players will get an opportunity, and I've got targets in mind should we need to bring someone in."

He will end up captain by the end of the season. His work rate and box to box presence will be the main driver. When you see him impose himself on games and go from our 18 yard box to theirs and bring others into play you will realise just how much of a one trick pony Medel was. Medel is a great holding midfielder but offers next to nothing going forward. Great if you're Real or Bayern playing a 4-2-3-1 with holding players but dreadful in our circumstances. By the end of the season I reckon his value will be closer to £10m as long as he don't pick up an injury.

I never seen him play but I am excited by what I hear. He sounds like a player we been missing. It's reassuring that ole had his eye on him for a long time too.

This transfer looks a real good bit of business.

Two centre backs now and I think we have a complete and a real quality side actually better in quality and strength than the team we won the league with..
