Brum getting 2.5m out of Mutch

Tue Aug 05, 2014 2:08 pm

Birmingham getting almost half of what we're selling him for, for Mutch. They also haven't needed to sell anyone this summer as Zigic is off wage bill, puts them in a strong position for Adeyemi with the money they're receiving for Mutch. :(

Yet people still saying this is one of Malkys best signings business wise. Makes you laugh really. I wouldn't trust the guy with a lemonade stand never mind a football club.

Not 50% exactly but 35-40%

Former Birmingham City midfielder Jordon Mutch is set for a £5m move to QPR from Cardiff, and it could mean a nice payout for Blues.

The former Blues youngster signed for Cardiff on 22nd June 2012 for a fee of around £1m.

At the time of the transfer Birmingham City's acting chairman Peter Pannu said that the deal had a "heavy sell-on clause".

What people don't realise is that it's clear as day we want Adeyemi but Birmingham can really take us to the cleaners now. Although they aren't exactly loaded, their highest earner has now left and they're in a better position than they were last year for finances. Not to mention they'll be receiving a huge part of the Mutch deal, meaning they can charge whatever they like for Adeyemi now because we're giving them money for Mutch AND Adeyemi. Ole being royally fucked over from a cock-up of previous seasons

If true then pathetic business on Malky and Moody's behalf but calling him Milky is a bit of a cheap shot, just incase you didnt ready the OP properly it says 50% sell on clause to Birmingham not 50% sell on clause to Malky Mackay.

Mutch moved to St Andrew’s from Derby County in the summer of 2007, having been loaned out to several clubs during his early Blues career, Mutch became more and more important last season and made 29 appearances, including 20 starts.

Those games brought two goals, most notably the second in the 3-1 Easter win at Burnley with only a quarter-of-an-hour to go.

In total Mutch made 36 senior appearances for Blues after becoming the club’s second-youngest debutant when he came off the bench in the 2008 League Cup tie with Southampton aged just 16.

One of our top scorers has left for £800k, we had to sell our best CB for £8.5m as if we sold him for any more, we'd have to give money to Spurs, we're selling our most influential player for a fee of £6m due to him being in the last year of his contract and having to give a huge percentage of that to a Championship rival. Whilst we bid for another one of their players. Milky and Moody have put us in a worse position than we were before. At least under DJ we would make profits on players

Swings and roundabouts we gave ross away for 350 000 and made nearly 2 mill on sell on clause when he went to fuLham

Fully agree. Another Mark McGhee in my opinion, he should have joined a club whilst he had the media buzz around his sacking, now he'll be scrapping the barrel for another club.

He went for 11Milllion, Over double what we are selling Mutch for, So there are no swings and no roundabouts i'm afraid.

Anyone think we agreed to sell Mutch based on Birmingham getting this money?

We sell Mutch for 6m and pocket 3.5m

We then buy Adyemi for 1m

Brum also receive 2.5m from Mutch deal

Adyemi basically costs us 3.5m

Something to that extent but figures obviously not all correct.

Birmingham may now be holding out for more as they value Adyemi more than 2.5m plus whatever we've bid.

Slight tug of war i think, no more no less. I think Adyemi will certainly move to us though, just for how much more than what we've already offered.

Heavy sell on clause is fact enough! heavy means large? especially for what was avarage player at time, normal clauses are around 10% unless talented youngster who possibly makes the big time later. :old:

Malky got us to the PL which brought 100 mill in revenue and you want to critisise him for a sell on clause!!! Like another poster has said we got a couple of mill out of the Mccormack deal

Average sell on fees are from 15% to 25%, anything over that could be taken as large. I think our sell-on-fee for McCormack was 25% for an 11m deal.

I'm okay with him criticising it though. Plenty of posters post things such as Nolan and Wes Brown coming here yet people believe that, yet there's an actual article on a large 'sell-on-fee' but he won't believe it. Ah well

15m in transfer fees, 45m in wages. 40m profit. Malky did bring us promotion but that was hugely down to Tan's investment. :ayatollah:

The way you put it there balances it out, the point I was trying to get across. That we're kind of buying Adeyemi for more than we should be buying for. I can see him being a Cardiff player though. :ayatollah:

If and I say IF the sell on clause is 50% then it will be 50% over and above what we paid, so if we bought him for £2m then brum would get £2m, but take it from me we have not got a 50% sell on clause, it is nearer 25% which means brum would get £1M
