YOU GOT TO HAND IT TO VINCENT TAN

Sun Jul 20, 2014 10:40 am

Look putting all rebrand issues aside and debt to equity promises aside, what seems apparent is that unless there are relegation clauses in players contracts Vincent Tan is holding out for top dollar for our players.

He could have been walked over by agents and more experienced heads of clubs but Tan does seem to be holding his own and that must be good for Cardiff City.

I know I will get slammed for this post but I have always said I will look at things from both sides.

Wigan done the same ,no need to sell are players cheaply we can afford it now a profit last season and with tv money and players sales this season we should make another profit

its a sensible post Carl............at the end of the day he learned a very expensive lesson last year,so is looking after his money better...........and no matter what people think on a variety of other issues. a good deal for him means a good deal for the club, which means good for ALL of us..me,you,nukes,the army of reds he has hiding under beds and in cuboards........all of us.

He can afford it Carl.

If he was about when Ramsey was with us it makes you wonder if he would still be with us.

Rebrand aside he has been excellent for our club...

I agree

Apart from the two main things , he's ok :? Holding out for top money on players is what he is a business man that's why he's turned us red

Probably not but would have got a lot more for him. Sell on clause too perhaps.

That's an interesting point but I think he's benefited as a player by going.I'm not so sure he would be as good if he'd have stayed with us.I think today though as there is a completely different slant on our finances, Tan could obviously play hardball when it comes to price.

We are a business first and football second. Tan would be very popular if it wasn't for his scandalous rebrand.

Re: YOU GOT TO HAND IT TO VINCENT TAN

How is it good business?,we haven't gained any profit,as far as medel is concerned it sounds like we are making a loss, even after his good reviews from the World Cup,I must have missed something because that ain't good business to me

Re: YOU GOT TO HAND IT TO VINCENT TAN

Don't talk crap Carl,he's ruined our club simple as that.

I will reserve judgement until after the Medel deal is sorted, however it does seem he is def. not getting pushed about by agents at the moment.

I agree Carl, Rebrand aside he is probably one of the most sensible owners we have ever had, Rebrand included he is the worst. :bluescarf:

Carl why do you think you will be slammed, you have voiced your opinion, and in my opinion an honest and sensible one, that is until someone says "don,t talk crap" and that then becomes an insult.

Well thats what you get for spending too much on him in the first place, something is worth what its worth. Considering he doesnt want to be here we could lose him for a hell of a lot more than this deal.

Carl, Hmm ? We shall wait and see.

Rebrand aside, once debt to equity is done as promised I might then say far enough

I hate tan. And had given my season ticket up for the 1st time in 13 years because if him, but i agree. Apart from the rebrand he's done a lot of good to this club, if only he wasn't so stupid he could have had 30,000 fans chanting his name every week. If baffles me to how stupid he has been regarding the situation. He could've been a legend in Cardiff but instead he's hated

If tan turns us to blue at home with a decent badge then i'd be happy for red away with red seats in the stadium tbh.

Thats compromise.

Let's be honest. He should be walking on rose petals around the city centre.
The training and academy facilities are superb.
Unfortunately his stubbornness regarding the team colours and his seemingness to go back on his word about a debt free club and the fact it seems he is borrowing money from his other companies to fund the club (remind you of someone ?!?) all outweigh the positives I am afraid.

I seem to be missing the point?,you just said we paid over the odds,so how Is that good business to start off with, good business is buying low then selling at a profit, not buying high then selling at a loss

of course it is..........but tan doesnt have a de lorean.......he trusted the manager as no doubt he does with his many businesses....all he can do now is damage limitation.........so what would you consider good business at this point?
taking the first offer maybe thats good business....

Good point well made.

When Tan gets it right, and he often does, he's a very clever man.
But when he get it wrong, he does it spectacularly. :bluescarf:

Re: YOU GOT TO HAND IT TO VINCENT TAN

If Tan can break even on malkys mistakes then he is more than done well, in fact I'd be amazed. Allowing malky free reign though was not good business as we now know.

As for the rest, he can't be forgiven for the rebrand as far as I'm concerned unless it's reversed. But other than a few PR mess ups he hasn't done a lot wrong.
