Ronaldo or messi ?

For a bit of fun, Who's the better player Ronaldo or messi ? And if we could sign one which one would it be :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

Ronald :ayatollah:

Ronaldo for me. Don't judge this world cup because of the teams each are playing in, this Portugal team only just managed to qualify

Re: Ronaldo or messi ?

Ronaldo, practically carries Portugal on his back

Re: Ronaldo or messi ?

Sun Jun 22, 2014 10:46 pm

Ronaldo, he has everything. Whereas Messi just had close dribbling and a good finish.

Are you serious?!!!

Football is a lot more than being fast and being able to jump high!

Ronaldo is a top player but his vision and decision making isn't on the same planet as Messi.
I'd say Messi chooses the right option 9 times out of 10 whereas as Ronaldo does about 4 times out of 10 and this usually results in shooting.
Messi sees a far clearer picture of the game whereas Ronaldo uses his superior athleticism to for so much of his game.
If Ronaldo wasn't quick and strong he wouldn't be half the player he is.

Messi is the best player in the world and will possibly be the best ever but Maradona is still my number one.

Just has close dribbling and a good finish :o Really ?

Its extremely close but Messi for me, different style of players obviously but Messi's intelligence and eye for a pass edges it. Ronaldo is a monster, he's worked so hard to become what he is today, he's always had the tricks but his athleticism and technique is through pure hard work. Like I said extremely close, we're lucky to have arguably two of the best players of all time in one era. :ayatollah:

Yet Ronaldo averages more assists per season. Ronaldo's pace, power, skills, work rate, everything makes him the best player in the planet. Watching Messi this season he's been shit even before his injuries

Thats the way I see it mate, Messi's intelligence is different gravy, plays with pictures in his head and as you said 9 times out of 10 he picks the correct one. To be fair to Ronaldo his pace and strength his through his desire and hard work, the guys incredible.

Even when he's shit he's scored 40 odd goals! This season is the only season Ronaldo has played better than him (and it's not over yet) he's done nothing in this world cup so far apart from fancy step overs and shoot over the bar!

It's all about opinions but if you honestly think that's all Messi is about I don't think you understand football

I hardly come on this forum anymore but that Messi comment compelled me to reply!

They are both superb players but I prefer players whose football intelligence is what defines them rather than athleticism. Give me a Platini or a Hoddle to watch any day of the week.

For me Maradona is the best player of all time and he wasn't big, wasn't particularly fast and he couldn't use his right foot much, yet he won the world cup on his own and won serie a on his own twice (when it was the best league in the world)

Both world class mate, both for different reasons, personally just think we're lucky to have two class acts in the same era. Cant work out Messi at the moment mind, he doesnt look like he has half the appetite that he's always had but then goes ballistic when he scoring goals.

Something doesn't seem right at the moment. Whether it's the pressure of living up to Maradona 86, this sickness thing or his form seemed to dip when the tax evasion thing reared it's head.

Seems strange, one of the things I admired most about him was his work rate, he's always been like a dog with a bone, never give up attitude, but lately he doesn't seem to have the same hunger.

Even so he scored 2 goals in 2 matches so far. Ronaldo has had less of an impact so far. Apart from that cross tonight he has been anonymous.

He's clearly not fit though.

Ronaldo for me as he's proven it for every team he's played in whether it be United, Madrid or Portugal.

Messi. Simple.

Not just the greatest of his generation but the greatest of all time.

The bigger the game the better Messi gets. If god has a kick about up in heaven ill bet he pretends to be Lionel Messi.

That's the best argument on this thread for me

Both incredible players but RONALDO has played in top teams in different countries and that for me just gives him the edge

Messi has been with Barca pretty much his whole career. Im sure Messi would be more than capable of playing just as well in any other country.

If Ronaldo was at Real as a youngster would he have ever played in England?

Im not disputing the facts. He hasnt needed to do it because he's been at one of the biggest clubs in the world his whole career.

Its a debate that will always go on. Dont think there is a right or wrong answer. Just personal opinions. Mine is Messi I can understand why others would say CR.
