Blackburn Away on Sky, Make a big statement ?

Wed Jun 18, 2014 1:55 pm

Anyone think its a good idea to kick off the season, away end full of blue, thousands of blue balloons, scarfs, flags, create a great atmosphere and get behind Ole, the boys and our identity ??

Being live on Sky, very first game of the football league season as well I think it's a great opportunity to show everyone, most importantly our club that the players and manager have our support on the pitch but also that we want our identity back and we're going to keep pushing for it.

We've got plenty of time to spread the word and make people aware, picture Watford away but 100x better.

Agree with this, to be fair though our away support has always been blue, hardly ever see any red away :-)

Yeh. Great idea. Wear blue when we are playing a home team in blue and our the team will be in red. Then flood the pitch with blue balloons and boo Marshall when he pops a few because they are distracting him. That's a great way to support the team from the off.

Do you really think that all that nonsense(inside the stadium that is) didn't impact the players last season? But hey, your personal preference for a colour is obviously the most important issue for you.

A good idea but we did this at a lot of our TV games in the Premiership where there is a larger national audience but a monumentally higher global audience. We could never make a bigger statement in the Championship regarding the blue than we did in the Premiership.

We should be doing it every game rater than just the games on sky.

Sounds good to me, this season needs to be about getting out identity back and nothing else in my opinion. :bluescarf:

100% agree mate, its a must for every game this season and to be fair the 19:27 has taken off well and has swelled in numbers. Lets carry on the momentum from last season and continue to push for our identity, starting at Blackburn :ayatollah:

As for others saying colour is my obvious preference, not just colour, our badge too, they're both a huge part of OUR identity and that is 100% my preference. It doesnt stop me supporting the players and manager, I find it amusing how people think because fans hold up a scarf and want a return to blue they automatically dont support the team too, I cant remember the last time I went home without a hoarse throat.

Also don't talk shit "it effects the players" the players are constantly saying after every game how much they appreciate our support.

Agreed. The scarf thing is great, everything else just brings the club down imo.

It will stop being a protest once we are blue at home again , the players know we want blue , Ole knows we want blue (he said himself it doesn't affect the players )

I can't believe they have continued from giving us Sunderland (which was inexplicably switched to a Sunday, that game could have easily been played Saturday lunchtime or Saturday evening if they wanted to show it on Sky), Newcastle away and now Blackburn away being switched to a Friday making us have to use up a days leave! The statement should be boycotting, the way we are getting mistreated has to stop! I will have to use 2 weeks of leave to see every away game this season because all the closer away games like Reading and Birmingham are on Saturday's, but the Rotherham's, Wigan's, Bolton's, Brighton's etc are on Tuesday's!

The first game to open the season last season was Sheffield United home to Notts County on the Friday night. The Notts County fans could work a full day before taking the 45 mile, 1 hour journey to Sheffield. But it's a bit different for us travelling to Blackburn on a Friday night isn't it, we have to give up a full day of leave! Why can't they show the game Saturday lunchtime, Saturday evening or even Sunday lunchtime to help us out? Why do they continually treat us like dirt and make things as difficult as possible for us? We do not deserve this, it's time something is said. It's a disgrace!

I hardly think it's a Sky Sports agenda against us. If anything it proves that we must get them good viewership numbers.

You are aware there are 23 away games this season in the league? You don't have to go to them all. You don't have to take a days leave if you don't want to simply by not attending and watching in the pub. I don't go to away games which are on television, I only go to around 5 a season so what is the point.

Sky mistreating us? f*cking hell you would think you are forced to go to every game.

Sky could easily consider the fans with the distance they have to travel, sacrifices they have to make etc. Sunderland away on a Sunday is not considering the fans. Blackburn being switched to a Friday is not considering the fans.

Please explain why they've chosen to have us play Bolton away on a Tuesday and then Reading away the following Saturday? Surely it would make sense to switch the games around to consider the fans? I'm moving into a new job soon and I probably won't be able to get leave granted for all the Tuesday games. This is what I'm annoyed about and there will be thousands of fans in the same position as me.

If Reading away was Tuesday, we all could have worked a full day and still seen the game. Instead, they choose Bolton away on the Tuesday, where it's less likely we will be able to free up time to go, then because of the distance, we will have to sacrifice trying to book the following day off work too because we will be lucky to get home by 3am. They couldn't have made a better job with our fixtures to make things as difficult as possible for us to attend these Tuesday away games, and it isn't right!
