In my opinion the Ref: Yuichi Nishimura ruined the game, penalty decision diabolical and many more decisions all in favour of Brazil, which changed the game.

Brazil 3
Neymar 29′, 71′ (pen) Oscar 90′
Croatia 1
Marcelo 11′ (og)
FT 90 +5
HT 1-1
12 June 2014
Neymar scored two goals, including a controversial penalty, as hosts Brazil made a winning start to their World Cup campaign.
The five-time winners trailed when Marcelo's own goal, after Nikicia Jelavic's miskick, put Croatia ahead.
But Brazil were level when Neymar equalised from 25 yards following Oscar's powerful run.
Neymar scored from the spot after Dejan Lovren fouled Fred, before Oscar wrapped up victory in stoppage time.
Croatia will feel hard done by, particularly after the controversial penalty decision by Japanese referee Yuichi Nishimura after Fred threw himself to the ground while backing into Lovren.

It was a soft pen but the Croat defender pulls on his shoulder what do you expect he's going to go down all day long. People shouting red for neymar no way was it a red, yellow at most. Brazil were poor tonight they need to pick it up if they are going to win the wc

Annis i think this world is going to be a farse, hope im wrong

No way was that a penalty and as far as I could see Crotia scored a good goal
The standard of refereeing was terrible and it looks like th ref has had lessons from Phil Dowd
I am dreading the England matches because politics will mean the refs will not be favouring England
I think the word corrupt will be mentioned quite a lot during the World Cup Hmmmmm

Defender makes it easy for referee to award the penalty. With regards to the chopped off goal, the whistle went long before.
Croatia weren't great and deserved little from the game.

Brazil didnt look that good either and I would be surprised if they win the World Cup
Still plenty of banter to be done yet before the final
It's all about opinions

That game was fixed. Corrupt. Expect to see a lot more. Just like all the other times the World Cup has been in Latin America. A total disgrace. The ref was just following orders. From FIFA's point of view, he probably did well. Is there any point watching the rest of the tournament? Brazil to win at all costs. No amount of camera shots of pretty girls jumping up and down can disguise the fact that Brazil are cheats.

Can't see Brazil winning it. A good team could rip them apart.

1..
.Well in that case there should 8 or 9 penalty decisions in every game....2...Neymar should have been sent off. He deliberately looked to see where Modric was before putting his forearm in his face...that's a red. 3...The disallowed goal was an awful decision..the Croat jumped up and headed the ball, he didn't even touch Cesar. The ball then came out to a Croat who shot, hit Luiz and came back out and put away. Don't think it would have been cleared by the defence. As for saying Croatia weren't great and deserved little from the game...I thought they did really well and certainly deserved a point. Not sure what game you were watching.

The penalty decision was wrong for me but I'm not the ref.
Croatia played well, think Brazil deserved it though.
Well done to whoever called for goal line technology for the first goal, tough decision but goal line technology played a part.

I was disappointed in the the referee, but even more in the Brazilian team. What a lousy game they had.
Hulk was a disaster (massively overrated imho), Fred nothing special, David Luiz and Thiago Silva were horrible when under pressure.
And of course it was never a penalty. Yellow card for diving any day of the week. Obvious red card for Luiz Gustavo in the 83' minute. Not a free kick when Olic won the challenge with Julio Cesar prior to the disallowed goal (but that is not a blunder by the ref).
Brazil will have to get much better during the WC if they want to win. Neymar saved them in a mediocre match for him.
MoM was Modric, imho. And Fred is a diving pig.

just give the world cup to brazil now, ref couldnt wait to give them it. never a penalty.

Can't see Brazil winning it. When they face the likes of Spain, Germany and Argentina they'll struggle.
Serious worries that all this unrest in Brazil will boil over if they're not successful.
Holland v Spain should be good tonight.

1) no there shouldn't.
2) of course he looked to see where he was. He didn't smash him with his arm, he lifted his arm.
3) the whistle went long before the ball was in the net. Keepers get too much protection these days anyway.
4) U watched the game that Brazil strolled without doing anything of note. Croatia scored through an own goal.

I have no doubt the referee was under orders to make sure Brazil won. Like all things in life, we are taught to watch the puppets, not the hands controlling.

That ref was a genius compared to the one n the Mexico game.

You need to wake up Paul, do you really think FIFA will allow Brazil to get knocked out in the group stages with all the unrest and rioting taking place? A percentage of Brazil is happy at the moment because Brazil won. If Brazil get knocked out, the whole country will be rioting and things will get much worse than they currently are. FIFA are under pressure to justify having the World Cup in Brazil, they will keep Brazil in the competition at all costs. Football is corrupt and this World Cup is especially corrupt. Expect some of the bigger teams to get knocked out by controversial decisions to weaken the opposition Brazil will have to play.
