Ninian Stand extention progress
There's a new structure on the Cardiff skyline.
The 5,000 seat extention to the Ninian Stand at Cardiff City Stadium is now clearly visible rising above the current seating area.
The addition to the stadium will be ready for the Uefa Super Cup final between Real Madrid and Sevilla on August 12th.
Cardiff will start the new season with an away fixture on the opening weekend so the first competitive action for the new 33,000 capacity will be the Super Cup between the Champions league winners and the Europa Cup winners.
That may also impact Cardiff's action in the first round of the Capital One Cup which is scheduled for the 12th / 13th of August. If the club are drawn at home they could play the following night on August 13th. That will become clear when the fixtures are released in three weeks time.
Here's what the red seats may look like after the finished product

I imagine the seats will look a lot brighter and bolder than that.

Bar the fact the seats are red it looks decent.

Good job mate

I think I know what Tan is going for. Red top tier all around the stadium.

Disgusting

why have you added rows of seats to the lower tier?
Wed May 28, 2014 12:58 am
The lower tier will have extra rows at the back, I believe that is true,
Wed May 28, 2014 7:10 am
Well now if that picture is correct my 2 seats have gone
The existing back row is continous at present ie seats in theaisle at the very back
Where have they gone ???????????

If the gap between tiers was smaller then it would have added a hell of a lot more seats ...... modern football is heading down the corporate hospitality road it seems than giving the true football fans less of a chance again ! But Im sure come the revOLEution back to the Premier League then both areas will be full every home game ?

This picture is only a rough idea, the top tier will actually overhang the hospitality boxes, making that "gap" smaller.

I'm at the bottom of the D and will have the same issue... Yet we'll still be paying the same price who are left high and dry!

im sure you could move, there are still plenty of seats up there i believe

Won't the people sat in the far corners of the new tier have an obstructed view of 1 side of the goals.
Wed May 28, 2014 10:20 am
Unless Im nuts there appears to be huge blind spots

great pics-
i dont think we will be playing at the ground until the week after the supercup.
usually Uefa have the grounds for 2 weeks before any final in order to kit it out with all their sponsorship and tv and media set ups.
the chances or our 1st home game will either be on the 16th August or maybe the 19/20 August

the top tier starts where the lower tier seats end, only its been elevated to allow the boxes.......the boxes like the main stand will have seating in front of them...........not as in pic lower tier extended a few rows

but they are not showing the back row of the lower tier(existing at present)to be continuous meaning that at every set of steps leading up to the back row have lost 2 seats ive had 2 of these seats since the stadium was built where have my 2 seats gone plus the others that were there

Your seats won't be effected. They're not extending the bottom tier at all, that's an error in the photoshop. Your seats may just be replaced as they'll probably be damaged by the construction.

The roof will come to the same point as the old one so you won't get any more wet than you do now. They just haven't put the rest of the roof on yet

I think this photoshopped picture is confusing a lot of people. This is not what the stand currently looks like, nor is it the final product!

What an absolute eye-sore those red seats are. It looks like a dog's dinner. And this is just from the esthetic viewpoint.

I don't think it looks that bad, not ideal but not terrible. I think many are letting their dislike of the rebrand affect their opinion of it.
Obviously rather it be blue but not the end of the world.
Wed May 28, 2014 4:51 pm
This is my main point. We play in Red at a Blue stadium. The true fans wear blue. Do the players think we are playing away and teams in blue feel like they are home.
The mind plays great tricks with you
From a business plan, change us back to Blue. Sell more shirts. Unite the fans. Get promoted and make the Home games a fortress and make more money.
And I am not a painter and decorator Mr Tan, but I will work for you for a tidy wage if you need common sense

( hope he reads this)

We are talking about 6000 red seats here I doubt very much the reality is going to be a million miles away from a photo shop mock up.
