Should CCST consider making an 'alternative' blue home shirt

Tue May 13, 2014 4:03 pm

Perhaps a blue 'alternative' home shirt manufactured by a major kit supplier and with the design voted on by the fans and sold by the trust? (Don't forget they have their one patented bluebird- so no copyright issues either). :D

All monies raised could be split between developing a 'fighting fund' for the trust (at some point, in the not too distant future, CCST may well need to raise funds and lots of them...) and local charities.

Ideally they could work with the newly 'pro blue' Echo to promote it (the Echo could even sponsor the shirt) & use the Echo's promotions dept to assist with processing orders etc.

If it was a joint initiative between CCST and The Echo it could really take off and hugely outsell the hated red home shirt, with the added benefit that the money was being held in trust for the troubled times that may not be too far away for our club.

Thoughts?

A good idea but in no way would it raise anywhere near the amount to pay Tsn as the man above insanely suggests

But better than sitting on our arses waiting for the mythical day when we'll somehow be changed back to blue eh.

Great idea in my opinion :bluescarf:

I hope it's a runner

Fantastic idea and I'm sure if you could persuade addidas to make the one that was on here the other month they'd sell like hotcakes. :bluescarf:

Our club drags it's heels so much with official kits that CCST could exploit this by getting them out first!

People would want them for holidays etc when our club is twiddling its fingers.

Good idea, after seeing some of the blue kits for a while I thought they should do it, they could sell other blue merchandise like coats eventually, why not, let them see we will never accept the red and they are wasting a fortune....

Money held in trust for troubled times ahead,a fighting fund.
Phill you've lost the plot,take a break.

Would attract a load of attention too from the likes of Sky sports and could become a cult shirt in years to come....

Agree Craig but Cardiff City have the potential to 'do a Pompey' so money in the trust coffers is certainly welcome, even if it's to help get the club out of a CVA at some point. Tbh though, the money raised at this stage is almost secondary to the PR opportunities an alternative blue home shirt could bring for the trust and those opposed to the rebrand.

I've emailed Tim Hartley and he's expressed an interest so we'll have to see what develops.

my thoughts are..its the best idea ive heard in ages......an official trust alternative home shirt..........

the problem..............every tom ,dick and harry will make alternatives to the alternative,or just rip it off........please tell me this would not happen...........but should it take off properly your right it could get media attention along with making a point.....

I Know Liverpool did this a few years ago when they wanted Hicks and Gillet out- the shirt the fans produced sold very well indeed.... below is an image of what it looked like.

Here's the link to the forum thread about it too - gives reasons etc, if anyone is serious about doing this!

Great idea, the sooner the better these things take time. The mock up design on here previously was awesome. Love the idea of the echo sponsor. Cringe worthy 'newspaper' but good reminisce

Quality idea. I haven't worn or owned a football top since I was a child, but would happily buy an alternative blue one.

The trust badge is a registered trademark and it's unlikely the echo would stand for counterfeits either

Most definitely. Would also be good if there could be a fund or that for displays like Palace have done. Please do not say I don't want to be like Palace. I don't either but I would like to see a choreographed display from us as it would make for a beautiful sight.

All affordable and all make for a good sight and can make a point. Make it happen

Great point. If we do hit the financial brick wall then we're going to need a start up fund to get things going again. Better to be prepared and to have some money ready. Its another positive of this protest and it is arguably the best idea to date in my opinion as it not only shows that blue is important but that fans are willing to put their money into the coffers of another company at the expense of Tan's Cardiff City if the club do not provide us with what we as fans should be getting, a traditional blue kit.

This would be great but I think the best design would be:

Blue shirt with simple bluebird badge in a white circle with the date of club established and name of the club and the south wales echo as the sponsor. It would look traditional but arguably with a modern and progressive design but the biggest statement in my opinion would be the fact people are willing to purchase this shirt as opposed to the red crap being offered by the club.

Best idea yet! That adidas kit design would look great. Do babies kits too! I have 2 little girls who have yet to have a kit thanks to the red shit

Now Then.... That's a kit son! When you look at that and then look at the tacky trash we wear now (and next season if Tan is designing it) it's just makes me sick. :bluescarf:

We need a blue kit, Not from the club but from the fans, 2 fingers up to that b*stard Tan. :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

I love the idea, but what about blue, yellow and white with the blue being in the middle and white and yellow on each side.

Thoughts anyone?

For those of you who'd like to see the idea at least given some serious consideration by CCST, your best bet is to post a link to this thread and email it to:

help@ccfctrust.org

At least that way the trust will be able to gauge the strength of feeling and the viability of a project like this.

Many thanks once again for all the positive comments.

The kit from this thread is apparently only a week away from being finished, looks cracking in the photos. Whoever is producing this kit could maybe sit down with the trust and try and sort a plan out.

Retro though and wouldn't go with the scarfs etc, just blue and white.....
