' CARDIFF CITY MANAGER'S JOB '

Sun May 04, 2014 7:00 pm

The club were looking at Sven Goran Ericsson, Avram Grant and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer to replace Malky Mackay.

Obviously Dalman chose Ole and out of the three options I would have to say he was probably the best choice but do you think otherwise ?

I would agree, Ole was the right choice out of these three but we will never know

Carl, First they should of kept Malky, biggest make, but if I had been looking, it would of been the type of managers like Tony Pulis,Ian Holloway,Neil Warnocks etc

Worse choice.

The other two at least had premier experience, a lot more premier experience.

Out of those three I would have chosen Avram Grant first, ole second and Sven last

Carl Mehmet has said he only went after ole and that was his one and only target. I also believe they kept throwing money at him to make it impossible to turn down.
I notice rene was still out of a job on soccer Sunday. I would love the club to bring him in as coach as his pedigree is second to none over the last ten years. And of course it would suit tans man utd credentials

Steve, It is true once they had chosen Ole as the one they wanted, they kept throwing money at him. £2 mill for 5 months work and another £2mill if he kept us up.
Ole turned us down at least 2 times.

No wonder were financially in the shit the way Tan spends the money, he lends us.

When looking at those names im really happy that he chose Ole.

Grant has showed that he can do well for clubs where he gets what he needs. But in West Ham and Portsmouth where he needed to create something he failed horribly.
Definetly the wrong man for our club.

Eriksson: Same thing as Grant, did well when he didn`t have to create anything himself. Leicester was a good example where he failed when things wasn`t in place.Eriksson spent big money in the summer of 2011, including multi-million pound transfer fees on Matt Mills and Jermaine Beckford making them pre-season promotion favourites. After 13 league matches Eriksson left the club by mutual consent with the Foxes sitting in the 13th position in the league.

Ole is a man for the future. He already showed his determination with Molde where he rejected Aston Villa to finish the 3 years he had promised the board. Lets see what he can do with his own squad in the Championship.
Im excited and hope he can get a good transfer budget to sort out the lack of quality in attack.

Awful list of managers. All three of them have only ever achieved something in nothing countries (apart from SVE with Lazio but that was back in the late 90's!) We really need someone with football knowledge and experience on the board what if Ole walks or gets sacked? I can't begin to imagine what the short list will look like

Annis in my opinion tan should have got rid of Malky the same time as moody if he believed there was an issue over transfer dealings apart from the wasted money on corny and brayford.
He had a second chance after palace away as even the most ardent Malky fan had their doubts that day.
I don't believe anybody would have kept this squad up as we looked and played like a championship side for the majority of the season.
I said it day one at west ham where on earth were the goals coming from?

 sums it up for me. He took to long to remove Malky. Ole was the wrong choice as we went but the damage was done in the summer.

You what? 2 of those three haven't got a clue how to keep a team in the Premier league as has been shown on numerous occasions. Surely this is a wind up?

In what way is Rene qualified for a DoF role? He'd suit better as a coach.

Annis I like Malky but Tan was 100 percent right to sack him. He was never going to put his differences aside and make up for the sake of the club. In my opinion the club would have been better had Malky been sacked earlier instead of dragging it on for months.
The whole disagreement is based on Tan refusing to blame Lim for the poor management. When dahlman came in he said they hadn't even had a board meeting. As a business man would you run a business without the directors meeting regularly?

I dont agree Tan was correct in Sacking Malky, but in Sept/Oct when Tan had decided 100% they would not get on anymore then Tan should of done it then.

You didnt want Ole as he has no prem experience, yet you wanted Warnock or Holloway (who deserted Palace this season as he couldnt hack it) whose only prem experience is one season of relegation. (Pulis was at palace so out of the frame)

Not sure whether to laugh or cry

i think he had a chance even earlier at Norwich.......even then we pretty much all knew he was on borrowed time.and although we got a point every one leaving the game was scratching their heads to how we got a point.......it would have stopped the dont sack mackay protests.......and given whoever came in a good run of games before the second window.
