Cardiff City Blame-ometer: Don't blame Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the surprising verdict of the fans
Tuesday Apr 29th 2014

By Paul Abbandonato

After we asked YOU who was to blame for the mess at Cardiff City, some surprise answers came back...

Cardiff City fans have absolved Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from blame for the club’s Premier League relegation plight.

Thousands of Bluebirds followers took part in our online ‘Blame-ometer’, where we asked who you thought was responsible for the shambolic season?

At the time of going to press, only six per cent of those voting pointed the finger at manager Solskjaer, who has been in situ since the start of January.

More than double that figure pinned the blame on Malky Mackay, Solskjaer’s predecessor in the Bluebirds’ hot-seat, with 15 per cent declaring it was the fault of the players.

Instead, the real subject of your ire is Cardiff’s billionaire owner Vincent Tan. Almost 67 per cent of voters attribute the club’s failings during 2013-14 to him.

The WalesOnline Cardiff City Blame-ometer is the best indicator yet of what the paying public believe about the reasons for the club’s dip to the bottom of the Premier League table.

Solskjaer has lost 11 of his 19 matches in charge since taking over from Mackay and those setbacks have included a number of humiliating drubbings against fellow relegation rivals.

The 4-0 loss at Sunderland at the weekend followed hot on the heels of a 3-0 home reverse to Crystal Palace and another 4-0 hammering at the hands of Hull.

The Cardiff boss has come in for fierce criticism for his tinkering, team selection and tactics... with the decision to pick Don Cowie ahead of Wilfried Zaha or Craig Bellamy at Sunderland the most recent in a number of eyebrow raising choices.

I would say in this order 1) Tan 2) Tan 3) Tan & Ole

So Annis, I'll bring the question to you as you've avoided it on the other thread, what is more important to you?

1) Being able to constantly post negativity around the club to adversely manipulate the fan base against the club and see us get relegated

or

2)to put that to one side and generate some postitivity around the club to help create a positive atmosphere to spur the boys on to get a win and possibly avoid relegegation?

No one blaming players? wow

Re: ' 67% of Cardiff Fans Blame Tan for this seasons failing

Everyone is to blame

Malky for poor summer signings (not enough experienced players)
Tan for dividing fan base and meddling in team affairs
Ole constantly changing the side and not getting a settled side
Players Just not up for the fight some not even trying (I would exclude Marshall and Campbell from this)

Agree with Marshall and Campbell

As for more failings - some of the people who Tan has put in charge of transfers and the running of the club.

Some of the shocking refs we have had and the late goals we have let in .

The signings from both managers were not both spot on or what was needed.

And to add to the above - £8M on the Dane Corn or both K.Jones/Zaha - when we should have got Jordan Rhodes ;)

1) Malky
2) Ole
3) Tan/Players

Not really shocked that Annis thinks Malky is completely blameless then fails to answer why he thinks that.

Me too. It's 100% Tan's fault we are getting relegated. Everyone should be able to see that but unfortunately, only 67% of those voting can see it!

:ole: :ole: :ole:
My reasons in no particular order:-
Malky Mackay's transfers

Vincent Tans football inexperience

Annis Abrahams and his followers constant sniping about Tan

South Wales Echo negative reporting on Cardiff City

Sunshine supporters who won't be there next year because we are not In the Premiership

The negativity of this message board

Oli's team changes

Malky Mackay''s tactics

Malky Mackay's original 25 first team squad

Boring atmosphere at home games, because people only go to see us win AND not to see the football

Ignorant fans who wouldn't know good football tactics from their head to there arsesole

Dumb stupid people who say we would be better off getting relegated, go into administration, getting rid of Tan, changing the Manager again, bringing back Dave Jones, saying we would have stayed up if Mackay had stayed in charge, when this is pure conjecture, his tactics were boring both in the championship and the Premier league, remember we when we lost games some times in the championship we were able to stay ahead because.other teams also lost.

Etc, etc, etc, etc, etc,

I obviously must have imagined us starting the season well before Tan stuck his nose in, interfered, disrupted things and then employ a manger to take us down into the relegation zone then.

I will stick with facts, you stick to your false assumptions.

Why wouldn't he be in a poll about blame for us going down.

Would you like a poll with the only option being Mackay?.

what I mean is that there is no one person to blame. Malky and Ole had roughly half a season each and a transfer window each too.

fact is when a poll like this is put up, people are going to automatically choose Tan, without thinking it through.

For me personally, the main factor in us going down is Malkys transfer dealings in the Summer. people talk about Tans meddling which is fair enough, but he trusted the manager with a massive budget, and he blew it.

Ole has been too naïve with his tactics, had a poor transfer window himself though obviously January is a lot more difficult.
