The guys on Medel's back....

Mon Apr 28, 2014 7:47 pm

Would you have rather had Capoue?

Some of the comments about his fitness are warranted but when he hasn't been in the team we've looked even worse than when he is in it!

Think you are being harsh on the lad. It's not his fault we paid over the odds for him which people seem to use a stick to hit him with.

Re: The guys on Medel's back....

He's simply run out of steam. Done a lot of traveling first half of season, and with him not being used to the pace of British football, its caught up with him.. That's my opinion anyway lol

Re: The guys on Medel's back....

Mon Apr 28, 2014 7:50 pm

Exactly, he's been a class act and along with Marshall, the reason we haven't got the record low amount of points. I dread to think how the season would have gone without him, Marshall and Caulker

Re: The guys on Medel's back....

I really rate medel. He protects our defenders superbly and is often sweeping up and covering our midfield. Medel is an honest hard worker, good tackler and plays the game simply. His role in our team isn't to score goals and create chances, although to be fair he could improve and chip in more in this area.

I think the money paid for him is fair, however, it isn't the sort of money we should have been spending for a player like him. For us to justify double figure signings we need them scoring and creating more often. Look at players like Carrick for Utd, don't score or create much but break up play and keep it simple. I think Utd paid around 20 mill for him but Man Utd are in a financial position and have good enough players around Carrick to justify the fee. We don't.

Re: The guys on Medel's back....

Mon Apr 28, 2014 7:52 pm

He is is a bit of a headless chicken, his fitness is a joke but his concentration is even worse. The way average Sunderland players went past him was shocking. He using strong enough.

Positive though is he will put in a tackle if he gets near. I'd sell him for a few million next season.

Re: The guys on Medel's back....

Mon Apr 28, 2014 7:54 pm

He is a good signing no doubt but heavily overpriced. If we didn't dick around for Capoue for weeks we'd have got Medel for cheaper. We are a better side with Medel of course but you can't justify the fee we paid

Re: The guys on Medel's back....

Rather Wanyama to be honest. Wanted him in the beginning. Partly cause he's a good player and partly cause he's a beast on FIFA.

:laughing6:

Re: The guys on Medel's back....

I actually disagree he's overpriced - completely disagree.

I just think he's a class player, playing alongside players who aren't on his wavelength.

Got a superb passing range and the amount of times he breaks up attacks is unreal.

Way too good for us, there's no doubt about that at all!

Yes, very consistent performer! 89% pass accuracy with average 19 meter back or side pass. Average 4 defensive actions per game and win 47 % of his duels. Never makes crucial errors and is imminent looking for through balls.
Worth every penny

I'm sorry but we shouldn't have spent 10m+ on a CM whose hit and miss and unproven in this league. We should have gone in for Huddlestone from day one, if he didn't want to sign for us then sign another British midfielder. His fitness is awful, you can see talent but he's either in the wrong league or in a poor team. But you can't deny we didn't overpay

Superb passing range? I can't remember him attempting long range passes like Huddlestone for example. He passes it 5 yards to the left (like our own Leon Britton but 9m more expensive and 5 stone heavier) chases shadows and is blowing out of his arse after 60 minutes.

He isn't good enough for the Premier League, let alone us.

No? How bout this then. Usually his back pass is to a defender in a tight spot, and produce a lot of the goofballs which looses our possession. Did that kill another part of you?

You've clearly not been watching him properly then since he sprays pinpoint passes wide quite often actually.

Granted, none are particularly direct in terms of opening up defences but thats not his job.

Going from you original post, you've a love for stats. People like you who use stats for every argument just need to look at themselves and evaluate where they're going in life.

No, just you and Kenfig Red. You're both brown misers of the highest order who will abuse Malky on anything and arse lick Ole, even when the debate isn't about either of them. Plus you just love to be the centre of attention and that winds me up

Yes I have. His passing range is mediocre, switching it to the flank every now and then isn't special and most DM's do it.

I'd be able to sit on the fat bastards back with my feet up as he chugs around the pitch.

Yes I would much rather Capoue.

How the f**k am I getting "mullered"?

Re: The guys on Medel's back....

It's been an inconsistent season for Medel. He started superbly but as others have said I think a mix of the large number of intense and high tempo games plus the traveling he's done for Chile games has caught up with him.

Think about how many players really struggle to do well in their first season in the Premier League, let alone in a struggling club and you will begin to understand how well he actually has done. If we stayed up, kept him and added 2-3 more players I reckon he'd be a quality player next season.

As Capoue would have come here over Spurs. I'd rather Messi over Kenwyne Jones.

I knew Huddlestone would be brought up. People forget how shit he was last year.

Medel a class act
Declan John the new Bale
Caulker worth double the 8.5m we paid for him
Jordan Mutch should be going to the World Cup
Daehli the new Iniesta
Kim worth 20m
Taylor and Gunnar are class

How the f*ck are we bottom

So the defense for Medel is we are even shitter when he isnt playing than when he is

Oh well that justifys the 11m we shelled out for him.

The guy played well in about 10 games, mainly August & September, and the Jacks at home he had a good game.

Since then he has been garbage.

that Jacks game was his best by far and at least showed what he is capable of i guess. His (lack of) fitness is his main issue
