WORRYING SEASON TICKET CONCERNS FOR NEXT SEASON ?

Tue Apr 08, 2014 8:24 pm

Over the past few weeks a few comments have been made to me and I have read some posts on here regarding the season ticket renewals.

So I want to post a few of them as questions to get a feeling as to what other people feel about the season ticket renewals.

1. Were the club correct to put season tickets on sale in February for next season?

2. Is the 15% price rise of season tickets too steep?

3. Should the price be dependant on which division we are playing in next season?

4. Are you surprised to hear or read that up to 10,000 current season ticket holders have yet to renew?

5. Have you renewed and if not, why not?

6. Do you have an idea on how the club can get the missing thousands to renew?

7. With parachute payments, should we go down, the club will surely have resources to spend on transfers in the summer to try and bounce back up so shouldn't we as fans stick with Cardiff City through the good and bad and these are not bad times?

None we have sold more season tickets than the previous season in the championship at this stage which is where most people think we will end up! there is a 70% renewal so far currently around 14,500 odd add in the corporate as well even if we dont sell another season ticket the crowd will start around the 17,000 k for every game without the away support and walk up.

But when we draw at Southampton on Saturday smash Stoke, Sunderland and Newcastle and finish the season in 16th on 37 points after grabbing a late equaliser against Chelsea I am sure we will sell a few more :D :D :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :D :D

Love the positivity Vince :D :bluescarf:

I was told today that sales were around the 14,000, hence why I wrote up to 10,000 not renewed, would like to think that with a big crowd, if we go down, it will help us to try and bounce straight back up.

And what's this business about drawing against Southampton ? We are going to win :D

Tenth relegation for me. Waited all my life to see us in the top league and it's been awful. People down the club I have known for years go to work miserable and in fear of their jobs every day.
I believe that tan and his son will interfere in the playing side and purchase of players whoever is manager so I fully expect ole to walk sooner or later.
As soon as we are officially relegated I believe the training ground will be shelved amongst other things and we will be no closer to the debt to equity swap.
For me the love of the club has gone hopefully only temporary but I cannot support the present regime who are using the club as a subbuteo set and are obsessed with turning us into their own mini version of man utd.

I dont think it mattered when they went on sale a lot had made their mind up by then.
It's a lot of money to a lot of people so definitely a factor.
don't think people should pay more for a poorer product so it should depend on league.
Not surprised at all at the lack of interest we have made too many headlines for the wrong reasons and most fans have had enough of all the shit.
I have renewed it's still the club I love just going through a rocky spell at the moment.
There are two main ways to get the fans back price freeze on season tkts and most importantly the return of our identity.
I believe we should stick with the boys but can fully understand anyone who's had enough and wouldn't judge anyone who hasn't renewed. I disagree with you though Carl these are bad times one of the worst I can remember. Maybe not on the pitch or what league were in but can never remember the fans so divided and lifetime fans saying that's it until he's gone or we return to blue.

Yes as more chance of selling them with more chance of staying up at the time

2. Is the 15% price rise of season tickets too steep?

Doesn't affect me (price freeze) butway to high as football clubs are supposed to be trying to bring the prices down
3. Should the price be dependant on which division we are playing in next season?
Definitely

4. Are you surprised to hear or read that up to 10,000 current season ticket holders have yet to renew?

Yes , even with the off field controversy

Yes always will renew

Announce a return to blue and change to badge and thousands will return

Not just Tan tho, what made going to watch for me was the fans, twelth man, making CCS a fortress.

The whole Malky thing where he obviously wasted money but was backed in order to get at Tan finished it for me.

We're not fans of the team anymore, we're a protest group with a terrible owner

1. Were the club correct to put season tickets on sale in February for next season?

No problem with the timing.

2. Is the 15% price rise of season tickets too steep?

It is for the Championship! For the PL? Probably a bit steep. Those on the five-year freeze will probably see a huge increase
this time next year.

3. Should the price be dependant on which division we are playing in next season?

Yes, but its too late now. Unless the club offers refunds when our relegation is confirmed.

4. Are you surprised to hear or read that up to 10,000 current season ticket holders have yet to renew?

Not really. It won't be difficult to get tickets in a 33k capacity ground in the Championship!

5. Have you renewed and if not, why not?

Yes, I have renewed. My dad has too.

6. Do you have an idea on how the club can get the missing thousands to renew?

Somehow avoiding relegation!

7. With parachute payments, should we go down, the club will surely have resources to spend on transfers in the summer to try and bounce back up so shouldn't we as fans stick with Cardiff City through the good and bad and these are not bad times?

Ideally, yes, but a lot of fans will probably buy on a match by match basis.

1. Were the club correct to put season tickets on sale in February for next season?
No - March IMO

2. Is the 15% price rise of season tickets too steep?
Far to steep

3. Should the price be dependant on which division we are playing in next season?
Yes

4. Are you surprised to hear or read that up to 10,000 current season ticket holders have yet to renew?
No, for some the extra 15% would make a big difference, not to mention all the shit off the field.

5. Have you renewed and if not, why not?
Yes

6. Do you have an idea on how the club can get the missing thousands to renew?
Staying up but highly unlikely. Return to blue, Tan has a promotion war chest for the manager, keeps out of the playing side of things and we're to of the Championship by Christmas.

7. With parachute payments, should we go down, the club will surely have resources to spend on transfers in the summer to try and bounce back up so shouldn't we as fans stick with Cardiff City through the good and bad and these are not bad times?
Depends on who owns the club and if Vinney does a runner with the cash.
If your a fan your a fan, those of us who endured the bottom tier can be proud of ourselves. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: WORRYING SEASON TICKET CONCERNS FOR NEXT SEASON ?

1. The club were not right in putting the tickets on sale so early. it was clearly designed to catch as many fans before the likely
relegation to the Championship.

2. Yes, 15% for some fans, in the Premier Club prices have gone up nearly 30%.

3. Most defiantly yes. Surely you pay for the quality of the serve/attractin being provided. premiership football is far more
attractive than Championship football therefore that should be more. However, Championship football should be cheaper than
Premiership football.

4. Not surprised at all. In fact I thought that there would be less renewing. The price rises and the re brand has not done the club
any favours.

5. Yes I have re newed. Followed the club soince 1968 hence difficult to call it a day.

6. Making it more attractive. Lower prices & respect history, identity & tradition. Simple.

7. Yes. Enjoy the good times and stick with the club through bad times. One word as an older fan, loyalty !

Re: WORRYING SEASON TICKET CONCERNS FOR NEXT SEASON ?

Tue Apr 08, 2014 9:21 pm

I had two season tickets in the Family Stand that I did not renew. If I'm honest I didn't bat an eyelid.

I did not renew in the Family Stand due to the rebrand. Not so much that it happened but the reaction of the fans on both sides, child like at best.

The atmosphere around us was antagonistic with fans actively supporting the opposing team and sitting motionless with their hands crossed. Funny at first but just gets you down in the end.

After 40 odd years as a season ticket holder it was a dream come true to make the top flight. Turns out it wasn't as fun as it should have been.

On the bright side I now don't have to look at the back of Carl's head anymore.

Re: WORRYING SEASON TICKET CONCERNS FOR NEXT SEASON ?

Tue Apr 08, 2014 9:26 pm

Carl your selling this as negative, 14k of season ticket at this stage imo is very good. Way more than I thought or expected at this stage.

10k less? Did we have 24 season ticket holders?

Tbh thought I didn't want to renew, I'd had enough but renewed so for the last price freeze.

Re: WORRYING SEASON TICKET CONCERNS FOR NEXT SEASON ?

Tue Apr 08, 2014 9:28 pm

Considering we've sold more than we did in the Championship last season at this stage, I'm not worried at all. :ayatollah:

Re: WORRYING SEASON TICKET CONCERNS FOR NEXT SEASON ?

Tue Apr 08, 2014 9:30 pm

So, including the corporate sales, season ticket sales have dropped from 22k this season to 17k next, a drop of 5k. Considering all the problems and bad feeling around and an unwarranted price increase then that still represents considerable loyalty from our fans. Like Vince I haven't given up on staying up just yet and live in hope that Tan will do the right thing with our colours etc so that disaffected fans will come back for next season.

Weren't meant to be 'sold' as a negative Luke.

That particular question was designed to try and get responses from those who have not renewed.

I believe we had just under 24,000 (23,800 approx) in total this season with 1,500 tickets going on sale for each home game.

Making it around 25,300 home fans.

Plus the 2,700 away fans giving us a stadium attendance of approximately 28,000

Re: WORRYING SEASON TICKET CONCERNS FOR NEXT SEASON ?

i didnt have the price freeze.........not only do i think it unfair to jerk up the price only for some...but with a good chance of relegation the club have done themselves no favours in getting new season ticket holders at the new prices.........

Re: WORRYING SEASON TICKET CONCERNS FOR NEXT SEASON ?

Tue Apr 08, 2014 9:46 pm

We know our fickle s, anda so signing or two and they will be back back.

The price increase is a disgrace though and puts the club in a awkward position next season trying to get people in if we are a champ club.

Very good comment & i feel the same, first relegation season for me was 74/75 & i can remember the last game of the season against Bolton we needed a 6 goal win & hope other results went our way, of course it did'nt happen we lost 2-0 & went down but up until that last game i still had blind faith in the team, there's been a number of relegations since & they've all equally hurt but this time it feels so different & because of Tan & his circus i can't get no enthiusiasm this time.
