Mackay snubs Forest approach

Malky Mackay has ruled himself out of the running for the managerial vacancy at Nottingham Forest.

Last Updated: 28/03/14

Malky Mackay: Not interested in the vacant Nottingham Forest job

Earlier this week the former Cardiff City boss was named on a three-man shortlist by Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi, alongside Steve Clarke and Gianfranco Zola.

But Sky Sports sources understand the ex-Celtic, Norwich and West Ham defender, who was controversially sacked by Cardiff at the end of December, is not interested in the position.

Al Hasawi, who is also chairman at the City Ground, has already been turned down by former Leeds boss Neil Warnock and club legend Stuart Pearce after talks were held over a replacement for the sacked Billy Davies.

Gary Brazil is in caretaker charge of Forest, who are currently seventh in the Sky Bet Championship, two points outside the play-off places.

Decent player but his management is outdated
Funny how West Ham kept with their manager and so did Norwich, West Brom went for Mel over Malky too  A Championship club is only good enough for Malky, he's just waiting for his pay packet off Tan

We shouldn't have, the relationship between them was unrepairable and we'd have been in a worse position/more or less the same with no January signings and the uncertainty. The players were losing faith with him(Bellamy, Caulker and Medel) and his reluctance to play Noone(who didn't start a PL game till 10 days before Malky was sacked) was holding us back, it took Mutch a last min winner vs Fulham, a goal vs Chelsea and a class game vs Newcastle to get himself a starting berth. If we kept Malky we'd have gone down anyway, we weren't scoring goals

Also what stability? We were one win in seven and not scoring goals, under Ole we have multiple game plans and flexible players, i.e. Fabio being able to play full-back, wing back and winger etc, we have much more attacking football and we have players we can call upon for years to come i.e. Daehli. If we go down and Ole stays we will have a more clear indication on how to play and will attract players for the way we want to play football

He probably snubbed it because he is still on Tans payroll and he knows as soon as he takes a job the money will stop. He's not a victim, he's benefited from being sacked immensely.

Re: ' Malky Mackay '

Thu Apr 03, 2014 2:29 pm

I fails to see how any manager wouldn't be interested in the forest job .

Huge club , very good championship squad , massive following , rich history and new owner willing to splash the cash .
Not many better jobs in the country for a up and coming manager , most experianced managers would be tempted .

If malky thinks he's bigger or better than that position he is wrong !

Re: ' Malky Mackay '

I cannot get over the total disregard for Malky on here

I appreciate that Malkys football was not the best to watch on the eye but I agree with Annis that Malky would have kept us up if he had been left alone!!

What has Ole achieved to date????? A win over Norwich and Fulham!!! A battering off the Jacks and Hull!!!

In Malkys time we achieved a Carling cup final (which we nearly won) and play offs!!

2nd season we achieved automatic promotion!!

3rd season we beat Man city, Swansea and held Man Utd to a draw!!

I think Dave Jones was right about our fans when he said "you could bring Champions league football to this part of the country and they would'nt be happy"

I would say todays cardiff is a joy to watch and is very much showing progression, despite not getting the wanted results.
Where did malky lead us the first season, and what did you think of him then? 45 millions later still playing hoof balls.
Thank good for entertaining football :ayatollah: :ole:

one of the reasons you gave for being so anti DJ was the relationship between him and the players was poor { lost the dressing room }..........exactly the same should be extended to the owner/manager relationship.........forget who was right and who was wrong..the relationship had broken down completely.......

Words fail me.

The first season is about staying in the Premier League, whatever style of football it takes.

After that - once you're an established Premier League team - you can look to play a better style of football.

Great Solskjaer is playing a "progressive style of football which is a joy to watch" as you put it - who cares if we're going down under him.

Clueless.

I think that's his point. It doesn't matter style of football you play, it's results and the league you're in that bring in the crowds.

Whether you agree about his sacking or not, some of the stuff people say about the most successful manager we had in a generation, is shocking.

I dont and Know we wont get those crowds. Thats my argument if Ole's brand of football is so good, yet we get relegated all that means nothing, because 10,000 fans will desert like flies, because all they care about is not Ole, but staying in the Premier League.

Me personally I will support City no matter what league,or results, Identity, pride, passion and loyalty means more to me. :bluescarf:
