Cornelius and Odemwingie Compulsive selling?

Thu Mar 27, 2014 9:08 pm

Why did we not use these two players the way Stoke and Copenhagen have?

You could question whether Cornelius was good enough for premier league but why get rid of Odemwingie? (an excellent striker with much prem experience) And now look at both players knocking the goals in for fun at other clubs.

My Opinion is that Cornelius is more than good enough and if Ole gave him one on one coaching , he could have scored at least 6 or 7 for us by now. Personally I think If Ole was with us from the beginning of season, Cornelius would be in the top 5 scorers up there with sturridge , Yaya and Hazard!

It upsets me to see players and their talent gone to waste at our club. I was at first upset with Odemwingies commenst after joining Stoke and I thought he was talking out of his backside but over the past few weeks stoke has proved to us that we never used Odemwingie properly.

I think those two compulsive sales will be the reason we go down.

Cornelius scored hatrick and yeah odemwingie has scored 4 since leaving cardiff. that is excellent as he only scored 2 with us? Cornelius scored zero with us (unless you count the friendly goal)

Re: Cornelius and Odemwingie Compulsive selling?

CORNELIUS IS IN A POOR LEAGUE AND HAS 1 LEAGUE GOAL

ODEMWINGIE IS PLAYING IN HIS ACTUAL POSITION, WE HAVE A PLAYER EXACTLY LIKE HIM IN FRAIZER CAMPBELL BUT NEEDED JONES FOR PHYSICAL PRESENCE AS THAT WAS THE PHILOSOPHY THE PREVIOUS MANAGER LEFT BUT DIDN'T USE THE PLAYERS TO HIS ADVANTAGE. WE SWAPPED ODEMWINGIE FOR JONES TO HELP US ATTACKING WISE.

REASON WE'RE GOING DOWN IS COS MALKY WASTED 8M ON A STRIKER WHO SCORED THE MOST GOALS IN A LEAGUE THAT WAS WRAPPED UP FOR MONTHS AND WANTED A BIT OF WONGA FOR HIMSELF

HOPE THIS HELPED.

he scored a hattrick in a friendly and 4 goals is decent but how would he fit into our system?

Cornelius was shite and Odemwingie i think wanted a move back to that area.

I do wish the best for both, but I question your motives as a new account posting this topic (and it seems like a few new accounts posting about the same topic).

But at the end of the day it all depends on how the Manager wants to play, and if he doesn't see either of them working into that system it would be a bit cruel to let their talents waste away on the bench + dvp games.

Pretty sure career wise they are both good moves for the guys.

Partywithole I appreciate your explanation i really do. But surely we woiuld have been better to keep Odemwingie, get rid of campbell as he is over-rated and use mutch noone and odemwingie as out main attacking force, In my humble opinion we did not need kenwyne Jones as we have caulker who is far better in the box plus cornelius was not exactly small. I agree Malkay let corneilius rot off the pitch. I dont think he was a waste at 8 million though. In fact I rate him as high as 12 million so 8 was nothing as long as he was being used from beginning of season. Ole could have brought the best out of Corner and in no time at all. I love Ole he is the best manager we have had ever

Are we playing Caulker up front now? To flick balls on?

Why not? Caulker is fab. We could use him anywhere on the pitch and he would shine. I bet he would be excellent in goals to. I;m sure David Marshall would agree with me.

Re: Cornelius and Odemwingie Compulsive selling?

Odemwingie plays on the right of a 4-3-3 and we play 3-5-2, he doesn't fit our system. He has never been good as a lone striker which is indicative of Hughes playing on on the right and using Crouch to play him through.

Cornelius is just awful at this level. If you think he just needed 1 on 1 training to become one of the stop 5 goalscorers then you're blind. He couldn't control a ball, he couldn't dribble, couldn't hold it up nor could he shoot on target. He was very very raw and needed a lot of development.

yeah he scored hatrick in friendly v czech republic but how many did he score for us in our friendlies? i tell you how much...1 goal pre season friendly match. So that proves we are not using players as well as other clubs are. stats dont lie. I just want Cornelius back.

By the way Ole was speaking, he thought he could bring out the best in Cornelius. And lets face it..Our manager was a top class finisher. He would have got at least 10 goals out of cornelius the last dozen games of season. i believe in Ole. He has great insight and studies players and their strengths and weaknesses. Thats what he used to do on the bench at Man utd. He would observe then come on and play on the weaknesses. He could have made cornelius a super sub like man city;s Dzeko but even better than him

Maybe he could have. If a few goals come then confidence can dramatically turn things around for a striker.

So? Just because a manager thinks he could get the best out of him doesn't mean that he will.

Ole was a great finisher no doubt but Cornelius needed much more than that. Saying he could get 10 goals if Ole was here all season is a baseless argument which you can not justify brining up.

Cornelius not good enough and on huge wages, we need rid of.

Odemwingy is a decent player but malky brought him in to play target man it seemed which was plain stupid. Ole seen we already had players like him and went for a different type of player.

Both rightly moved on.
Neither should have been bought.

How many more goals do you think stoke will get out of Odemwingie? He is on 4 already. I think he will be on more goals with stoke than frazier by the end of the season.
