My email exchange with the club re: Season Ticket pricing

Subject: RE: 2014/15 Season Tickets - 11 Days Left To Renew

To whom it may concern

Please stop sending me these marketing emails as I will not be renewing this year I am afraid. The club has become so out of touch with its fans, or “customers” as you like to call them, it is untrue.

The club has become a joke, airing its dirty washing in public, stripping its identity to please one mans crazy superstitions, and on top of this a price rise of some 30% in just two years?

Every season you seem determined to place another straw on the proverbial camels back, well this year the back on this camel has just been broken.

It is not the fans fault the club took a massive financial hit on sub standard players, or still have to honour a prize freeze from the previous regime. Why the hell should those season ticket holders not on a prize freeze subsidise management mistakes both on and off the pitch?

And whilst we are at it, to charge block 109 the same price as those in the Ninian on the halfway line is an absolute joke. My seat is behind the goals, why are we not paying the same price as the rest of the Canton? Its a nonsense and something you need to look at, especially if relegated.

All the money gained from the Premiership and yet you are still trying to hit the fans in the pocket for every single last penny, well enough is enough.

You reap what you sow and if we get relegated you will see the crowds dwindle and the stadium expansion will just become a white elephant.

I have been a fan of some 22 years and it pains me to see the way the club has turned out. Cardiff City FC finally died in my eyes this season.

Cardiff City RIP

A very disgruntled “fan” (not a customer)

Chris

Hi Christian,

Thanks for your email.

In answer to your question, all quadrants are priced at Zone 3 pricing (excluding the Family Quadrant as we extended the Family Stand in response to excessive demand) - the view is excellent with no obstructions and rarely affected by the weather, not unlike the seats above vomitery level in the Ninian stand - incidentally Zone 3 follows the whole length of the Ninian and not just the half way line.

Should you wish you are more than welcome to move to the cheaper zone 4 areas in the Ninian stand but these seats priced at the Zone 4 because they will be affected by the weather. Should this be the case, please contact us on 3rd to check availability in the cheaper areas around the halfway line.

Should you choose to stay in the area you are in, again I would advise you call us on 3rd and we'll look to relocate you over the aisle in to the Zone 4 area.

As ever, all tickets are subject to availability and relocating seats are on a first come first served basis.

If you need anything else just let me know.

All the best,

Good afternoon Tom

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, I feel you have missed the point.

I am not just comparing my block to the Ninian Stand halfway line, that was a figure of speech to emphasis my point

What I was saying is that my block is not in the Ninian Stand, or in the quadrant for that matter to even suggest this is, well, quite frankly, a nonsense.

My seat is in the end behind the goals. It does not even go past the Ninian touchline. I am directly between the 18 yard line and the touch line yet you class that as the quadrant? Or as Zone 3 as you like to call it?

You can dress it up how you want, the right hand side of block 109 is in the Canton Stand (or Visit Wales stand or whatever its called these days) and as such we should be paying Canton Stand prices (Zone 4) not Ninian Stand prices. I also enter the ground in the same gate as the rest of the Canton, and Zone 4.

Lets be honest to class the right hand side of block 109 as the Ninian Stand quadrant is just a way of squeezing any last penny out of us fans, or “customers” as our owner prefers to call us.

I do not wish to be reallocated, as I already made you aware in my original email the stripping of our clubs identity, the continual bad press and embarrassing statements, and a 30%, yes THIRTY PERCENT increase in two years, I have already decided I won’t be renewing as I have sadly lost my love and connection to this club.

Mark my words all this greed, and dismissal of your long term “customers”, is going to come back and bite the club should we get relegated.

And as for next year when the prize freeze ends, I hope you have something better up your marketing sleeves than another 16% increase in ST prices.

Sadly, enough is enough for this long term “customer” and the money I will save on a ST I will be going abroad to watch some German football. A league and country where the clubs listen to their fans and have got their marketing and pricing spot on. Vincent Tan and the new Cardiff City would do well to take a few tips from them.

Yours sadly, and still disgruntled

Chris

Hi Christian,

No worries at all. Like I said there are cheaper alternatives if you do not like your current option but appreciate you have already made up your mind.

Would you like me to cancel your current seats?

Thanks,

Tom

all premiership clubs and most championship clubs now run on TV money, sponsorship and sugar daddies. The fans paying to watch dont generate enough money to run a club and therefore we are not as important to the club or owners as we used to be.Sky has given us a product the envy of the world, but it has killed the game at the top level for working class people. There is no need for some of these clubs to keep increasing prices when gate money makes up such a small part of their income. It is just pure greed and the bubble has to burst at some point.

If the club doesn't need the fans money, and doesn't really care because of income from tv, why expand the stadium to incorporate more fans ????

Absolutely Denzil

Like the rest of society in this country the working class white man are bottom of the pile in the thoughts of those that own clubs / run the game.

no it was an arbitrary decision made by the owner of the football club for his own reasons (marketing may have influenced this decision) either way it is outside of the remit of our head of marketing who is not responsible for the rebrand and any attempt to blacken his name for this reason is baseless and idiotic

his job is to sell as many tickets as possible regardless of current difficulties so get off your high horse

i could of told you that you wouldn't get any sense off the club or sympathy. They couldn't give two f_cks about the supporters,I've always said this and its not just city its every club. That's why i don't take the game to seriously anymore.

Well done for sticking to your principles and not renewing, there'll be no shortage of tickets next season so you can just watch the odd game if the mood takes you.

It's true now we may not be in the premier loads of fairweather fans will find reasons not to renew their season tickets and they will be able to go to the bigger or cup games when they want....
