" Can everyone please name who they believe are Premier League players in Cardiff City's current squad ? "

Good enough to hold their own in the Premier League in this seasons current campaign.
Mine are

David Marshall, Gary Medel. Steven Caulker, Craig Noone, Jordon Mutch, Craig Bellamy, Fraizer Campbell( Who I actually doubted originally ) and I need to see Juan Cala in more matches first, he looks good.

All of the above except Campbell. Works hard but his finishing is diabolical

Well that's a small number of players in a squad. Little wonder we are at the bottom.

I've adapted the question to who will the PL clubs be sharking around for in the summer. Bellamy will be deemed to old im guessing. Also Noone has played well for 2 months so it's not a given (luckily) that a bid will come in for him. Only these two I make justifications for.

I agree with this, however i also think Medel needs to up his game too.

It really depends, are we looking top 4? None
Five to ten? None
Eleven to fifteen? Marshall, Caulker, maybe Cala, Medel, Noone, Mutch, Bellamy, Campbell,
Sixteen to twenty (players you need in a relegation battle)? Maybe Marshall? None of the others seem to have that battle mentality.

None of those are ideal. Marshall still doesn't come for crosses and hugs his line a bit.
Caulker has dropped considerably and is no captain
Medel watches runners but is overall a very good player
Noone is up to scratch but is starting to get taken out of games because on the right wing it's always about cutting inside.
Mutch so injury prone it's unreal, although it probably means he'll be here next year
Bellamy hot and cold to say the least, lacks an end product much of the time.
Campbell great running good vision, tries harder than nearly all the team but has woefully lacked support all year round.

So in a nutshell a few have quality but not enough and certainly not consistent enough.

Marshall, Caulker, John, Medel, Mutch, Noone, Daehli, Bellamy and Campbell.

I think John has done absolutely superb being thrown in as an 18 year old having to deal with Whittingham or Zaha in front of him. He is so composed on the ball and plays with a maturity beyond his years. When he hits his mid 20's, I believe he will be one of the best Premiership left backs and he will have all the top clubs after him.

Campbell has played up front on his own in a struggling team most of the season, runs his guts out and his chance conversion ratio is actually a lot better than people give him credit for. He's missed a few chances in the past couple of games, but you can't expect him to convert every chance. We are very lucky to have Campbell in our team.

The rest of the players pick theirselves, Daehli looks like a potential superstar and Marshall, Mutch and Noone have all shown they can cut it at this level. Caulker, Medel and Bellamy have all played at the highest level. Unfortunately, I think we will be very lucky to keep as many as 2 of the players I have listed if we go down.

id drop campbell out of that list and prob put daehli in there, :ayatollah:

On current form:

Marshall
Mutch
Noone

That's it, for me

Potential:

Declan John (if he continues on his current path)
Daehli (oozes talent)
Mutch (when fit)
Cala (too early to be sure)

Of the rest, several can do it when their head is 'in it' (Bellamy, Whitts, Campbell, even Jones) but for different reasons all these seem to be off form together

Marshall
Caulker
Medel
Mutch
Bellamy

Only 5 in my opinion. Craig Noone just doesn't convince me that he's Premiership class.

Marshall.

I think we need to put things in perspective here, up until two weeks ago we have competed against all the teams in this division, Hull were in the same division as us last season where we took 4 pts off them, they have added some quality to their squad but the difference is they played like a team Saturday where we played with no confidence and as if they had just met each other. We had no leaders on the pitch Saturday, our heads dropped as soon as their first goal went in, and to be fair so did the supporters.

I go along with all that, but i think the single most important point also is that Steve Bruce is an experienced Premier manager, who's been round the track a few time & knows the business. MM & OGS both have/had a lot to learn, in a very short space of time. You can't beat experience at this level.

I'd been interested to know what SB said to OGS after the game.

its pretty much who was named in the OP.
jury out on some january signings..Zaha might improve some with game time.
Cala..as you say not going overboard after 1 game..K Jones maybe if given better service.
john and Daehli..look as if they are going to be.
Noone is my doubt of who you named, he looks exciting ,certainly frightens defenders, and for that seems to get a get out of jail card on other things. skipped past 3 defenders Saturday then launches a pass across field into the Ninian, applause, Whitts would be hunted down and exiled to Australia for that pass..and, we seem to concede an awful lot of goals that can be traced back to him one way or another.he is one of these players that might be great in a better team but can sometimes be viewed as to much of a liability in ours { hence malky not picking him }.
but its not enough. the style/squad we came up with was ill equipped for this league, and up to this point its only been seriously strengthened by caulker and medel.
fingers crossed over the next 11 games 1 or 2 more will step up.and we will survive.

Well i'd guess being they know each other it would have been encouraging, the problem we have now is finding the right formula that everybody is comfortable with but more importantly instilling confidence in the team. I'm sure there will be an improvement at Tottenham but probably not enough to get a result.

Re: " Can everyone please name who they believe ? "

the only players who a premiership club would buy would be
david marshall,
steven caulker
juan cala

the rest a championship players :

there is only one asset at the club and that's marshall :caulker is only worth about 5million and we would have to give spurs 50% of that fee so we will have to spend big again next year dependant on any league we are in.

marshall has signed a long term contract in order Cardiff get the best possible price for him - he will not be a Cardiff player if we get relagted.

Re: " Can everyone please name who they believe ? "

Mon Feb 24, 2014 10:52 am

Marshall
Caulker
Medal
Mutch
No one
Dhaehli

yep........your always going to make a few mistakes, but we only got 2 certain starters in the summer........50mil and we get a CB and a holding midfield player, Bruce at Hull freshened his squad up across the board for a lot less, not sure if thats better judgement than MM or simply having better contacts in the game

Re: " Can everyone please name who they believe ? "

Mon Feb 24, 2014 11:51 am

Bellamy is not premiership class now.
My pick is :-
Marshall
Caulker
Mutch
Noone
Medal
Cala (maybe)

At the end of last season Whitts, Kim, Hudson and maybe Mutch and Campbell

Now - Mutch

Caulker and Medel cost enough and are PL class.

So three

Taking a look at the teams around us, I wonder how many of our players would attract interest from Sunderland, West Brom, Palace or Fulham if they were available right now. Not many I would suggest, I honestly don't think many of our players are more than good championship players, and I am beginning to think that we may have to accept that we will be playing there next season.

I would say....

Bellamy
Noone
Marshall
Caulker
Medel
Mutch

Any thats about it.
