I hope Ole stays

Sat Feb 22, 2014 8:36 pm

No matter what league we are in next season. I think he needs a chance to work with the squad and bring a few in and let a few go..
Maybe we will have to take a step back to come back stronger who knows but we ain't down yet :ayatollah:

I think Ole will be given until Christmas next see to see how we are performing in he championship. In the hunt for promotion and he will be ok. Anything less and it will be time to say goodbye.

Jinks as you know I would have liked to have kept Malky Mackay but I certainly do not want Ole to fail, if he fails then we fail.

That said I will state now that if we are relegated I don't believe Ole is the manager to lead us in the Championship.

I hope he stays. I'm interested to see what he can do with a full season. I like the brand of football. Just need a lot of work and time.

Tan should've brought him in in the summer.

I wasn't saying you want him to fail Carl :thumbright: Is Ole the man for the job? who knows but i think he needs to bring in the players he needs to play his way as many in the squad now are more suited to Malky's way of playing.
I said all along Malky should have been given till the end of the season whether we stay up or relegated but i think eventually given time Ole will have a team playing very good football. ( Or he will turn out to be crap and get sacked :laughing6: )

Me to if we can add a good striker and play the way we did in the first half ( minus the 2 goals ) i'll be happy..

Yes, he should absolutely stay. The result today doesn´t mirror our guy´s performance. We had 23 goal attempts, Hull had 11. We could have scored first, then the game would have been totally different. We could have gotten the penalties we deserved. Tan, forget about red being a lucky colour.

Some might want a "strong man" who can hair dry the players in the wardrobe, but the days are gone when this kind of management was effective. It might have been needed at the time when players entered the pitch stinking of alcohol, but a group of professionals don´t want a leader who doesn´t respect them as individuals. Being a totalitarian manager works as long as the results are good, but in the modern world, he looses the wardrobe the moment the team´s form drops.

If Ole only experience glory as a manager, I would have started getting worried by now. Being able to turn around a negative trend is an art of its own. And Ole showed twice with Molde that we has able to get things right when things were crapping up. In his first season at Molde, his team had a terrible start, but still they managed to win the league. After winning again the year after, Molde had a terrible first half of the season in this third attempt. The second half, they were the best and most winning team, and it was all topped by a great win in the cup.

People might thing that he is too nice for being a manager in the Premier league, but I don´t think the guys at our club is much different from people elsewhere. When this goes wrong, being yelled at doesn´t help a bit. There might not be time enough to rescue us from delegation, but we need to build for the long term if we want to be a stable Premier league club.

And people might wanna sack him because he´s "clueless about tactics". But what part of his tactics do you disagree on? Jones not being able to score 1 to 1 with the goalkeeper is not about tactics. A blind referee is not about tactics. If we were outplayed game after game, I would understand it, but that has not been the case. Wigan had one real chance, and scored two goals. You can blame him for not bringing in a top class striker, but surely he tried. The problem was that the price tags on the strikers we were hunting, were pure stupidity.

I will stand behind Ole. The players will stand behind Ole. And our luck will turn. Just you wait and see.

It's fine saying he wants to play more attacking football but he his team will have to be able to defend. If he can't show that he can do that then I don't think he will last long I'm afraid. Unless you have a squad full of players like Real Madrid you can't defend like his team currently does even in the championship.

Doesn't it remind you of the gutless Dave Jones teams from a couple of years ago? Some flashy players who would make us look good in the championship but always likely to concede a easy goal especially on the break and simple to play against.

I am hoping he is better than Jones but not yet convinced.

I hope he stays too.agree with most remarks regards malky.but in over 40 years of following the city, can honestly say I have never witnessed such lack of passion and backing of our'e beloved club! Too many with agendas, only going to see us fail,in the hope that tan will piss off! Not fully backing ole, some even hoping he fails, just so tan has egg on his face, seeing as it was his wish, that ogs was next manage,I fully understand the hatred in posts regarding tan and the re-brand.but the piss poor support for the team hurts,The players must get the tension from us,terrified of conceding the first goal, knowing the fans will go silent, and turn on them when things don't click.I miss the days when we were known for our'e voiciferous support, both at home and away!! I accepted we would be amongst the favourites for the drop,so promised myself to enjoy the ride, but my enjoyment was crushed today, fans leaving in their droves today, turned my stomach! F*ing shocking. If it has to be the championship so be it.come on fellow city supporters for the little time we may,or may not!have left, get behind the boys, let them know we are with them, every minute of the games we have left.CCFC! We are not dead and buried yet!!

Re: I hope Ole stays

I think there is a good manager in Ole. One who reads the game and seems very into the tactical side.

But right now he is raw and a little naive. You could tell he was excited in his first conference for us when he was talking about Mutch, Noone Campbell etc running at Arsenal and causing them problems so obviously it suited his vision of expansive football.

But therein lies the problem - we don't have the players at the back to make up for our attacking football. We have an incredibly leaky defence which is easy to exploit down the flanks and our fullbacks are so poor so it is easy to hit us down the wings and win the game.

I think this was the wrong move for both us and Ole. He seems to fit the mould of a manager who would take over a Fulham or Stoke (decent mid-table sides before this season) and try to progress them to the next level. We're not on that level and we won't be for years so he is trying to adopt Holloway a-la 2010 with Blackpool which is to outscore the opposition and neglect the defensive side. Which of course only sends you to the Championship.

But in terms of him staying here? Yes for me. I think the Championship is where he'll learn his trade a lot more than he would in the Prem. An overhaul in the summer, a pre-season to get the right style coherent with his players (it is obvious playing 4-4-2 then 4-2-3-1 then 4-3-3 every week with different players will not work) and get them up to fitness could see the manager that Ole has been hyped up to be.

Sacking him if/when we go down will just worsen our problems we currently have. Stability and a long term goal (mid-table in the Prem I imagine) is what this club needs and having 3 managers in the space of 6/7 months will make us look like even more of a circus.

You don't have to be a football manager to see that the players he has just don't have the technical ability to play the style he wants, I expect him to stay and he'll be given another year to get it right.
