We are out of the cup and there are 12 league games left for the season.
What positives are there after today's performance and was there anyone that gave you hope with their display this afternoon ?
Cala, Berget and Daelhi all started, would any of these three deserve a place in the starting line up against Hull ?

I am disheartened because we have just been beaten at home by a Championship side and now knocked out of the cup. We could have used the cup as something to keep up momentum. I don't buy into this "We need a break" rubbish. We have simply got to start picking up wins and every game that we don't pick up a win where we should means that we have to go out and cause a shock.

I'd play Cala instead of Caulker next week.

I agree with you, we need to build momentum and today we needed victory.
Last season I was not particularly bothered that we lost to Macclesfield as we had one objective and that was promotion. Some may argue that again we have just one objective and that is avoid relegation but the difference this time time around is that our manager does not know his best side, the manager is new, there are new players, we need games to build momentum.

Caulker is seriously overrated by many people. For some reason he can do no wrong yet both Turner and Hudson are regularly lambasted when they put in poor performances.
In my opinion Caulker was poor again today and it's not the first time he's been poor this season.

Disheartened Carl to be honest.... Cala was ok, Berget was better than Jones and Daelhi showed some great touches but I fear he will get bullied when it come s to the big matches that we have to win.... Hull and Stoke to name 2...
I hope I'm wrong but I find it difficult to see where we will get 1 win let alone the 5 or 6 we will need to stay up.
Again under OGS I found the starting line up strange, I would have thought he would want to play his best team to get them playing together in the style he is trying to create.... Instead he gives 3 players their debuts, Taylor a start after weeks out and and KTC with little action over the last few weeks. It was like starting with half a new team, then he brought on Cowie who's played less......
After last weeks performance it is hard to find a reason why Turner won't come back in against Hull and after today's performance it is hard to see why Zaha would get another start.
Tonight I'm feeling , for the first time this season, that we will not stay up.....but come next Saturday afternoon I'm sure I will be back to my optimistic self.....onwards and upwards.

Cala is a definite. We need to work how we get Daelhli in. Eikrem is no better than Whitts and gassed after 60 mins. Begret "is one for the future"

Totally demoralised
No dog or bite in midfield

We were beaten at HOME today by a very average championship team,we lacked passion fight and desire. When we get relegated, with the present squad, we will be unable to bounce back and will probably at best be a mid table team. What ever boring tactics Malky used the team never the less were organised which i've yet to see under Ole. Iam not knocking either manager and under Ole it will be a long road ahead if he is given time to stamp his ideas on the squad. When we are relegated it will be down to management inexperience at Premiership level, over to you Mr Tan.

I personally think Ole should have played the same side as against Villa (Minus Mutch obviously) - we started brightly against Villa and that side could have done with another game to get some confidence.
We were very much second best today and rarely looked like scoring. We seemed to lack something up the middle - some real presence to hold the ball up and allow the runners to take some good positions - as it was, most of the passes towards their box ended up being swept away.
Hard to see where our next goal is coming from, let alone a win...
Sat Feb 15, 2014 7:11 pm
We were missing 3 players - Mutch, Bellamy and Jones - apart from that it was probably our strongest 11.
I fear the worst when we are relying on just these 3 to strengthen the team to avoid the drop
Sat Feb 15, 2014 7:12 pm
I`m not a fan of changing the team..They played like a load of strangers today.I wanted our best 11 out today, they need the practice..Let fringe players wait till there`s an injury/suspension, they`ll get their chance then..Times running out, now aint the time to experiment.

I believe when Ole was appointed their were discussions regarding us going down and the real probability of it. Ive no doubt he will be given next season in championship to get us up.

It`s a nightmare league to get out of Craig, do you think this team is good enough to do it?..I have my doubts..

I'm disheartened Carl and really can't see much positive to take out of the game today. I cannot remember when we last carried so little goalscoring threat and without goals there is no way we can keep our PL status.
I was absolutely staggered today to see the lack of organisation at the freekick from which Wigan scored the winner as we basically said to Watson "Go on son have a free shot at goal". Complete lack of leadership on the field and I simply cannot believe that would have happened under MM or pretty much any of our previous managers. We have gone so far backwards from earlier in the season where we were so difficult to beat and I fear we have become such a soft touch that relegation this season will be quickly followed by the same next season.
12 games left but I really can't see us scoring more than 6 goals and because of that I doubt if we will finish with more than 30 points.
So much for the Dragon protecting the Bluebird Mr Tan not even Merlin and his very best spells can get us out of this Carl.
Sat Feb 15, 2014 7:25 pm
Worried...
Fair amount of players that are in and around the first 11 for a prem game and they just been beat again.
The words Rock bottom spring to mind.
Sat Feb 15, 2014 7:29 pm
Can someone please explain this "we were hard to beat" under malky? Genuine question as we werent and we had the 2nd worst defensive record and goals scored. This isnt excusing Ole or today just feel this line thats pushed is utter garbage.
Sat Feb 15, 2014 7:29 pm
I'm upbeat still I believe we can stay up. I know not all will agree with me but daehli looked gd zaha needs
To learn that 1 step over and an intelligent pass is worth more than half a dozen step overs cala was brill and will be an excellent asset this season and next the FA cup would have been a great story to a troublesome season and owners that have a clue would be nice but prem or championship or league 1 or 2 I'll be there supporting the team

Upbeat, I seen a pattern of play developing today

I think Zaha and Daehli was a good mix (mainly only positive this game), if they get they finish off in time... one to many tricks some times, and many long balls.

So you are saying that even though we had gained 17 points from 17 games , were not in the relegation zone and had arguably an easier second half to the season, they held discussions about us going down, very positive outlook .
So are you saying that Tan & co knew that OGS was probably out of his depth and appointing him would probably result in us being relegated.
I'm sorry but I would prefer to see them appoint someone with experience at this level and give us a sporting chance of staying up.
With all due respect , if OGS needs to cut his teeth then let him do it at a lower level with someone else !
Sat Feb 15, 2014 7:47 pm
We were shocking today. It was like a reserve team friendly.
Some players played well, some not so well.
We should have gone at them from the start, not the last 7 minutes.
I feel robbed. And it proved nothing to what is our best team for the league matches.
Thanks Ole for nothing. Dave and Malky would have won that.
Sat Feb 15, 2014 7:49 pm
I'm encouraged. Daehli brilliant and Eikrem a big positive. Cala looks good too. I think when this team gels well start to get the points but we could do with a "fox in the box"

We were going only one way under Malky, thats not a dig but reality. I know for a fact he had lost parts of the dressing room (others on here know this to but will not say so) a change was needed, whether Ole is right remains to be seen but he deserves time. Malky asked for 3 transfer windows and Im prepared to give Ole the same.
Sat Feb 15, 2014 7:54 pm
Shit game shit atmosphere, im not enjoying it anymore.
Sat Feb 15, 2014 7:57 pm
Our only hope of staying up is a fully fit Mutch and a goalscoring bonanza of Campbell and Jones
