I wrote last night that if we hope to stay in this division then we must be beating the likes of Aston Villa at home, I had replies that stated Villa are a big club and we got no divine right to beat them.
I agree that we got no divine right to beat anybody in this division and yes Villa are a massive club with a good history and a huge fan base but that does not make them a good Premier League team today.
I stand by my comment that we should be beating the likes of Villa if we wish to stay up.
I think most people will believe we need at least 5 wins to stay up.
So my question is out of the twelve games left which teams do you think we will beat in order to stay up ?
Wed Feb 12, 2014 8:24 pm
Hull, palace.Fulham. stoke draw 2 games away don't think it will be enough I do think we're going down
Wed Feb 12, 2014 8:24 pm
Hull, Fulham, Stoke, Palace, West brom
Draw with Sunderland.
16 points
Wed Feb 12, 2014 8:34 pm
We should be capable of beating Hull C,Fulham,Stoke,Palace,WBA and Sunderland.
My worry is that we couldnt beat an awful West Ham(were at the time) side at home, Villa who had just lost their last 2 games and are not doing well, slaughtered by an ordinary Swansea team and we could not get a draw at Man United's worst side for 30 years.
Plus we played awful against Bolton and Norwich, but we did win

I dont expect us to stay up and to be honest as long as we don't go into financial meltdown I'm not that bothered, we need a period of stability on the pitch and if we have to drop into the championship to achieve this I believe we can come back stronger. In hindsight Malky over achieved with the standard of players we had in the championship, his only fault was not realising that the majority of his squad was not good enough for the topflight.
Wed Feb 12, 2014 8:47 pm
35 points will be enough this year IMO.
Wed Feb 12, 2014 8:48 pm
I don't necessarily EXPECT to beat anyone. I want us to compete in every game and there are games that I pencil in as potential victories.
However, every game we go into in this league is gonna be tough and I'm under no illusions about that.
To answer Annis I will say that a lot of teams change manager then have an immediate upturn in form, but I think there are not many clubs who change a mega defensive manager for a mega offensive manager. That is what we have done and it was bound to take time for Ole’s style to filter through.
You may argue that we haven't got time, but I think we are seeing signs that his philosophy is starting to bear fruit.
Last night was our first clean sheet under ole and we played a 442 yet looked relatively solid.
If we go down we go down, but I am pleased to see us at least attempting to play attacking players and at least attempting to score a goal from open play. That's not a dig at Malky (who I believe done wonders for this club) it's just the facts. He wasted one hell of a lot of money last summer.

West Ham were never going down..or that bad......we caught them a week late i think........i believe we can get points away,Newcastles season is almost already over........Southampton?...cant go down, cant make europe..Sunderland and WBA in it with us.......plenty to play for i think, just need to string results ,,we have had 4pts from last 3 games......and if that keeps up its enough.......there are 4 games its that look impossible , 8 we can get something from......KTF
Wed Feb 12, 2014 8:51 pm
Be lucky to win any of them! Tough games all of them!
Sorry but I think were certs for the drop
Wed Feb 12, 2014 8:59 pm
I look at it like this
We have had two league games since ole took over where we really expected some points , they are norwich and villa and we got four out of a possible six .
West ham was his first game and he didn't know the squad so that was forgivable (just) . Man city , man utd and swansea were games nobody really expected anything and that's what happened .
Chuck in two very good away cup wins and we haven't really done that badly .
I always thought our season would start again after man utd away , we have 4 points out of nine so far , keep that ratio up and we will be safe

A good point very well made, fella

I believe we need to build our confidence again, and that takes a win then another 2 wins to build on that.
then we will start to believe get our confidence back. problem is I can see where them wins will come from the way we are playing. We have quantity but not quality where its needed.

Carl,
If we stay up then so be it.
If we go down, it's the same.
I turn up every week, to see players giving their all for the team that I love.
If they do this and lose. I may not be happy but I am relaxed in knowing that they done their best.
Non of this "I gave 110 percent" bollocks.
Win, lose or draw, I will be there.
Now, can we stay up?
I believe. Do you?

My opinion also 35.6 is average needed over last ten years could be even lower this year we need to beat hull and palace but I'm nt confident that we will
Those 6 points if we get them would be huge
Lot more twists and turns yet but I just don't think we got the firepower to stay up, really think we needed a striker who scores badly in January and we didn't get one we got a decent target man but he's not going to score 8/10 goals before end of season

Ole made purchases for next season.
Eirkem Daehli and Berget,
Were all purchased for the future.
That should tell you all you need to know.
We may pick up a few wins, but this team has no fight.
Sunderland,Southampton,Swansea and particularly West Ham results show that.
Malky did not do enough to improve the side. Smith and co should not have been retained. Mcnaughton gets named in 25 then loaned? Whilst new signing Brayford gets left to sit on sidelines and watch?
Ole would've told Tan to forget about this season and prepare for The drop.

I'd have to agree with you tbh looks like that all over although either of them would ever admit that

We can beat anyone at home including Liverpool and Chelsea both have had a few bad games already this season.
Also can win any away game apart from spurs and everton. A point is possible tho
Its the strangest premier season ever
Believe

I would have expected us to be more than a match for the likes of Villa, Palace, Sunderland and Hull etc, because overall we're not that bad a side. The last couple of games though (Swansea and more the 2nd half against Villa), we've hardly looked much of a threat in front of goal. If I were Ole, I'd pick the same team for Wigan as he did for Villa, and give them a chance to bed in - this rotational bollocks isn't helping at all.
Otherwise, I don't really expect us to beat anybody the way we've been lately...
Thu Feb 13, 2014 8:17 am
If every year is anything to go by someone always gets dragged in late on and someone pulls away. I'm not confident of staying up due to our forward line. The fact we are playing our rivals to stay up at home may seem like an advantage but could end up being real scrappy tense affairs. I just hope we've got the players for the fight. Medel is looking better lately and hopefully the new boys will start against Wigan to help them gel.the draw against villa proved one thing and that is the importance of keeping mutch fit. He seems to be at the heart of everything going forward.
Thu Feb 13, 2014 8:18 am
looking at it now, saying we should beat these ect.....i bet all the teams including fulham are looking at us and going, we'll get 3 points there....hopefully that will get teams overconfident and aslong as we can play, i think we might suprise a few.
Thu Feb 13, 2014 9:40 am
Expect the unexpected I would say! There will be a lot of twists and turns from here on in, someone will go on a really bad run, could be Sunderland or Hull,if we can't see where our wins are coming from, well looking at other teams like Fulham, Norwich and West Brom, it's also difficult to see where their wins are coming from also. It will be a record low points total this year for the team that avoids relegation
Thu Feb 13, 2014 10:08 am
I don't think we'll beat Hull, or Palace, or WBA.
If we stay up, it will be because of the teams around us have to play more of the top 5-6 than we do, and will likely drop points, whilst we're sneaking draws against the above.
I think we're for the drop, but in my opinion, that wouldn't be a bad thing.
Thu Feb 13, 2014 10:30 am
City will do well to win 2 more games this season.
The so called 'home 6 pointers' will be very tight affairs, the opponents will look to get a point [by packing midfield and looking to hit us on the break], and rely on their own home form to see them through.
I cannot see City winning another away game all season. City just do not possess the goal threat and their defence is porous.
Thu Feb 13, 2014 10:43 am
I can only see Fulham, Norwich and ourselves being relegated. You've only got to compare the goal difference of these teams to the others around them to see there's a problem
Thu Feb 13, 2014 1:12 pm
We need 37 points to stay up 36 on goal diff but ours is bad so its 37.Where do we get them ??
Hull City (h) a possible win 3
Tottenham Hotspur (a) nothing
Fulham (h) a possible win
Everton (a) nothing
Liverpool (h) nothing
West Bromwich Albion (a) nothing
Crystal Palace (h) a possible win 3
Southampton (a) nothing
Stoke City (h) got a draw all over it
Sunderland (a) possible draw
Newcastle United (a) possible draw
Chelsea (h) nothing
We have to get something from west brom sunderland and newcastle as well as beat stoke at home to get those points i can only see us getting 34 hope the sides around us get less coz i feel thats not enough. But we must do our bit and increase the noise and support at home.
Thu Feb 13, 2014 1:14 pm
I think we had a better chance at beating Villa at Vill Park than we did at the CCS.
You can see why Villa do better away with the pace they have upfront.
Villa have some very good players, a better squad than us but it was one of the game we had to be looking to win. A draw was about right but we need to pick up wins in other games.
Thu Feb 13, 2014 1:18 pm
Fulham a win possibly, no points away, maybe something from Stoke and Palace but not certain. 5 or 7 points max. We are going down.
Thu Feb 13, 2014 1:32 pm
I would certainly play Kenwyn Jones in the cup. He's a confidence player, and if he manages to score a couple on Saturday, we might just see results improve enough to keep us up.
Thu Feb 13, 2014 1:53 pm
Thank The Lord.
People seeing it now. Of cores we are going down. If you were a betting person city would have to be in your 3 to go down.
Agree with Annis and I said it before, West Ham home said it all. 1-0 down, they have a man sent off, and we concede again. Woeful. And your slated for speaking the truth.
I'd rather accept we are going down now rather than drag it out, and get myself all upset about it.
I blame Tan. We had a manager doing a decent job, yes he fucked up with Cornelius , but Caulker and Medel were class signings for us, a team who had NEVER been in the top flight before. In Malky we had a scrapper, a fighter a guy with a big set of balls.
City fans seem to have forgotten him already, and as soon as OGS was signed some fans had the worries appeased.
But... OGS has never been involved in an English relegation dog fight. He only knows about being at the top, and it's starting to show on and off the pitch.
I just think it's pretty poor fans forgot Malky so quickly, the only manager in our history to get us into the Premier League.
City till I die, but c'mon with Tan the dictator around, an asset strip and calling in on his directors loans have to be a possibility when we go down.
Yes he doesn't was to lose his 100+ million he has chucked at us! but in the long term it's peanuts to him.
