Where's the goals going to come from?

Tue Feb 11, 2014 9:44 pm

19 in 26 games isn't it? Lads, it's been fun and an experience but I think it's time you said goodbye and go back trying to win the championship again.

Tonights game was the type of game you needed to win against an average Villa side, yet they looked the better side throughout.I keep saying it but it's QPR all over again.Shame really especially with all the bravado on here only last week pre meeting Swansea City.Long time in football is a week.

Edit; David Marshalls save at the end was one of the best i've ever seen. What a goalkeeper he is.Speaks volumes that though.

When struggling you definitely need max points from these sort of home games.

Before you know it the winnable games have dried up and you are forced to win against the likes of Chelsea.

This 'average' Villa side have taken points away at Arsenal, Southampton and Liverpool this season.

Throughout? Stopped reading at that word. Tale of two halves, as usual.

Villa were better side in 2nd half but we had better of first. For the 7th or 8th time this season we have been denied a blatant penalty as well. The standard of officials is awful.

I think we will go down. Hopefully tan will f**k off and we end up in lower leagues and regain our identity. Then we move on.

I'm not talking money although you've spent your fair share.I'm talking about panic buying in January, something that QPR did.Too many unfamiliar faces/characters and then expecting them to gel as a squad whilst in a dogfight. That's a huge gamble and at present it isn't paying off.

Re: Where's the goals going to come from?

The first half you definitely deserved to be in front.

That second half was the opposite dominance but to an even greater degree.

I think on the balance of play, you should be happy taking a point.

Yes, I know. But tonights game was massive for you to win and get all 3 points.Villa are among the 11 clubs still vulnerable for relegation. This type of game and especially at home are the difference between relegation and survival.

No denying that, but it was never going to be easy, especially considering Villa can be lethal on the counter.

We've still got Hull, Fulham, Palace and Stoke to play at home.

I thought Solskaer would come in and shake things up and you'd go on a run.But the same problem remains.Every football club is only as good as their strikers and goalscorers.I don't think Jones and Campbell are those.I hate to go back to us but we had Michu last year and Bony this.City have Aguero United have van Persie/Rooney and so on.I agree with you and really think you'll go down now.Confidence must be getting low now, Medel has gone off the boil and it's your keeper that's earning you draws.Maybe Jones will come good,I'm pretty sure Campbell won't.But to have KJ as your saviour and only hope of staying up isn't good for you.

Fair points. I can't understand why joe mason has not been given a chance. He's a good finisher but for some reason he's not been given a chance. Solksaer has improved our play in terms of keeping the ball. The killer instinct is not there though.

You'd swear Swansea were light years ahead judging by the opinions of some of their fans! You're only 4 points away from relegation yourselves. I wouldn't gloat if I were you.

Can't argue with that, we need to create more and our own luck as we will get nothing given to us. Campbell was right in front of me, there was contact, therefore a penalty, but then if Foy gives it, he has to send their defender off? (not sure who it was, Vlaar maybe?)
We huffed & puffed a bit second half, couple of half chances for Caulker, one good chance for Jones, but Marshy made two worldies (again) and Turnermade some excellent intercepts, Villa finished stronger, not happy with a point but we didn't deserve any more.

QPR all over again except for the massive wage bill, our wage bill is about a quarter of QPRs, leaving us in a much better financial position. The only player that will be sold is Medel IMO for about 10 mil, with that money put back into the current squad we should dominate the championship if we go down that is :ayatollah:
