People can enjoy more than one sport, and when the national team plays its obviously gonna get loads of support as is the case with every Wales game i was there watching the game saturday, to say its only relevant to people wanting to go on a piss up is retarded

How many that were in that stadium yesterday were actually rugby fans? 15,000 at most is my guess

Choice of CCFC or the egg, and you go to the egg. You are an egg-chaser, not a football fan. Over and out!

Graham price said it all in the lead up to the game. People go for the occasion and that's it, they don't really care about the result. Regional rugby proves that.. People say it's dieing out but it never will because it is and always will be the number 1 sport in wales, despite what us football fans think

You would find that a lot of people actually have an understanding of rugby.

We have enough plastic, retards that know zero about the game at the Cardiff ground.

Jealousy, that is all it is.

And, I can't hang about crying over the fact I went to the rugby, life is too short, who cares.

Calm down, he has a point. You chose the rugby game over the football game.

I have nothing against rugby fans and I like the sport but the international game draws out very parochial Welsh people NOT rugby fans. I have a knowledge of the rugby rules but most of the millennium stadium haven't got a clue.

The six nations is like Christmas, it comes around once a year and the nation is full of it. It's a shame that the 75,000 are not split up between the regions and turn up every week, then game wouldn't be the shambles it is.

One of the best forwards of all time. Part of the holy trinity of pontypool. They interviewed him regarding the regions v wru

I have never understood this conflict between football and rugby. I love both as they are both important to our small country. I have a st with Cardiff but would rather watch rugby on the television if it clashes with a football game unless Cardiff are being shown away. I'm sure there are a lot like minded people and can understand Welsh mens point totally. Cardiff is my first passion but Wales beating England at rugby don't tell me no one revels in it

Re: Welsh Rugby Summed Up in One Paragraph?

The six nations is an event.

Ascot sell out 5 days and 90% don't understand the significance of some of the races.

Wimbledon sell out for 14 days straight

Henley regatta exactly the same.

In Wales it the 6 nations whether its in your local, a city centre pub or the ground.

I watch every game with a beer in my hand although I barely know which region the newbies come from. On the world wide front its about as significant as cricket, but the localism keeps it exciting and relevant.

Not dying?

I think the cumulative total for the last home game of each region in the RaboDirect12 is about 22,000. I reckon you could add the attendances for the last set of Welsh league games to that and it would still be less than one of our attendances.

The game is falling apart in Wales as the news continues to tell us when reporting on all the meeting going on between the regions and the WRU.

I can't I work in England.

Regional rugby is being strangled. The WRU and many of the fans who g to international games are doing nothing to help. We will soon be in situation like international football. All the best Welsh players will play in foreign leagues and the Welsh domestic game will be very very poor.

The regions need to get in a British league sharpish.

If you work in England surely that's all the more reason to revel. Unless u work with nutters

But 75k every national game. The wru makes shit loads of money, local clubs still get huge uptake on youngsters playing the game. Regional rugby took all locality out of the game, and I believe that's why attendances aren't what they were. All the big players only want to play in the big games, so people don't want to go and see the games

It's very rare they get 75,000 now. In the autumn games they had less than 50k a few times and yesterday there was only about 60k there

If my girlfriend asked me to watch the egg over Cardiff City I'd have dumped her there and then. She clearly doesn't understand me if I think I give a crap about watching the egg. Sorry to say it but you're clearly whipped and she clearly wears the trousers in your relationship.

Oh shit he says if the rugger team were playing in his back garden he'd draw the curtains well thats the kiss of death right there ,last time i read that line it was written by Peter Jackson and all the oldies know were he ended up.As for REAL rugger fans they would'nt set foot in a soccer ground, and respect to them for that,

I love the one about the Welsh rugby "atmosphere" f**k me its so boring, calon lan, hymns and arias and all that crap. Ok British football atmosphere is total rubbish but still light years ahead of it. For real "atmosphere" why not try Galatasaray v Besiktas or Olimpiakos v Panathanaikos to name but a few

Re: Welsh Rugby Summed Up in One Paragraph?

Sun Feb 02, 2014 7:26 pm

I am a Cardiff City fan first and foremost, always have been, always will be. I don't mind watching the rugby but I ain't a massive fan of the sport. I used to go down the arms park regularly to watch Cardiff RFC play as well a my local side in Roath but as soon as the regions came in iv'e been about 2-3 times and hated every second.

No doubt that rugby is dying in this country, and whoever said that youngsters are taking up this sport in big numbers is talking absolute rubbish. I know a few youth coaches in the Cardiff area and they can't sustain a side for every age group, similar thing happening down west.

Also for those saying that rugby is a massive sport really need to stop living in a bubble. When I lived in England you very rarely heard about it. Closer to home I was in Mid Wales a few years ago, a few of my colleagues and I wanted to catch the Wales game vs Italy in the six nations. We went into a pub and they didn't even have it on! We had to ask to turn it on and the bar was full! Wales games are a big event now, look at the regional attendances to get a real feel for the state of the game.
