When he was watching him at Utd he was convinced he was only a season away from regular 1st team football at Old Trafford. He is absolutely baffled as to why he was allowed to leave and can't sing his praises highly enough. In his opionion he isn't cut out to be a winger he thinks he lacks a little pace - more importantly though he reckons he'a wasted out wide and needs to be in the middle of things as he has the ability to run a game.
I know our fans are already going wild over this lad after 10 minutes but I really think you'd struggle to find anyone who has seen him play who doesn't think he oozes quality.

My view on Daeli and other top 4 cast offs, these discarded players hardly ever amount to much.

How is Daelhi a 'top 4 cast off'?
Didn't ManU want to keep him in the first place, then re-sign him when the chance came up?

Man Utd were desperate to keep him but the lure of Molde proved too strong.

You're right, he was very young and at the time wanted to go home.

Do you have proof of that? Seems like a routine cast-off to me. Hopefully he can do the BLUEBIRDS proud this season but I don't expect big things from a Man Utd reject.

They wanted to buy him back but he wanted to stay with Ole.
It's well documented if you look hard enough Roathie.

It's not a belief, that is actually what happened. But I'm sure it has less to do with first team football and more to do with Ole.
Ole is the biggest Norwegian football legend, he's been Dæhli's coach and manager for a third of his life, so when things line up for him the way they did, of course he will be very tempted to play for him.

I'm sorry but if United want a player, one of their own products, they get them. It's that simple. Anyone who believes any different are delusional.

How did experts at Man Utd miss all these Messi qualities after having him close-up for years.
I'd love you to prove me wrong but top 4 sides rarely discard top quality in this day and age.

Noggie wrote:Hello, I've been lurking around these boards since the day Ollie decided to become your new Manager, and Cardiff has now become my second team in the Premier League, with Manchester United being my one true love.
I've followed Mats Dæhli since he was 16 in the United youth team, streamed matches regularly and kept up with his and the other norwegians development. Ollie was the main reason at first that I became a United fan, and the import of Magnus Eikrem, Joshua King, Etzaz Hussain and Mats Dæhli, all from Norway, did nothing but increase my interest in the club. Eikrem was for a long time considered to be just on the brink of making the first team and being involved more there, but Josh King was the greater talent of the Norwegians there. With King halted by injuries, Eikrem was still viewed as the one who would make it of the Norwegians. That is untill Dæhli got to show his talent.
He got to prove his foremost qualities in the 14 minutes he was on the field against Bolton, and what you saw there are his best qualities. He's fearless, goes onto the field and takes command, pointing and directing other players that are regarded much more experienced than he is, and this bravery, confidence and determination is partly what makes people have such high faith in him. The ball control, vision, creativity and his unpredictability are the main other strengths of his, but I believe his mindset is a big part of why he's regarded as highly as he is, and it attributes to all of his other skills. He's been praised since he was very young as Norway's biggest talent to date, but he's never let it get to his head, and he's remained a down to earth and professional young lad.
He was, and still is, highly regarded by most who kept up with the United Youth, and I was sad to see him go from United, as I finally saw a norwegian player that could actually take the steps into a world class player. However, seeing him return to Molde with Solskjær and Eikrem made it easier for me to accept, as I still felt they would both benefit from following Solskjær, and it was very likely that Solskjær would be moving on eventually, and if they were still in the club he would bring them with him and help them improve further more. Many would view the move to Norway and Molde as giving up on his United dream, but knowing his personality on the field, I do not believe one second that Dæhli did not know what he was doing and that he knew that it would benefit him from playing first team football already, in safe environment with a manager who knows his qualities, talent and trusts him. Noone will know what would have happened if he chose differently, but for now it seems to have been a very good choice, and I can't wait to follow the norwegians onwards and support Cardiff whenever they do not play against United ^^
Now, the main reason I actually started writing this post, was just to confirm that it was indeed his own choice to leave United even though they still wanted him to stay. He's stated that the main reason he left was to get first team football, something he didn't expect to get in United, especially due to him being a smaller lad without the physique at the time to play at the higher levels in England. In Molde he get regular first team football, follow up by former United coaches and to continue his development under a Manager with mutual trust. He was also offered a return to United with the deal with Cardiff on the table, but I am sure Dæhli was never expecting to be involved much in the first team of United that is struggling at the moment, and I'm sure Ollie gave him these advice as well.
Dæhli is absolutely the type of person who would make the decision of turning down a return to United if he himself believes another move, as the one to Cardiff with Ollie, would benefit his development more. That's the sole reason I think he made the choice as well, and all the statements to the public indicate that Dæhli's first and foremost concern in the world of football, is indeed to improve as a player. United is also a club that won't stand in the way of young players wanting to leave due to whatever reason, especially at the age where they still aren't guaranteed success'. The reason you don't see it often is because very few youngsters would ever want to leave their chance to succeed at United at all cost, and I actually think it is another thing to give credit to Mats for being able to make such a choice. As others have mentioned, players like Pique and Rossi has done similar in the past, even though they were further along in their progression under United, yet the club did not stand in their way.
So far everything has been on Mats' own terms, at least according to himself, and you would believe he knows best, wouldn't you?
Tonight will be one of the very few matches of the year I will hope Cardiff loses, I wish you all the best!
Good luck onwards!

So we outbid ManUtd?(who wanted to buy him back?)
I've never heard of a highly rated scandanavian player choosing to leave Man Utd because of homesickness, Only to move 150 miles away from his home town of Oslo and live in Molde. Are you sure it was his choice to leave? If he were that highly rated,Man Utd would not have let him go full stop.
I'm not Roathie, I like to retain a decent relationship with reality.

To summarise
3 Good prospects tempted by Champions league football.
Dealhi tempted by Molde then Cardiff ahead Man Utd. I'm sorry but his guy isn't quite the player his 10 minutes against Bolton suggests. My big concern and dare I say it, Alex Ferguson's concern.......Is he strong enough for British football? He looks weak and skinny, time will tell, but I won't be told that Man Utd wanted him. They clearly were fussed, neither were other top clubs. I guess they are all wrong and you'll choose advice from amessage board lurker ahead of the facts.
