Malky Lovers

Sun Jan 19, 2014 11:50 am

Malky has fucked up big time and we are in this mess because of him imo. I think tan done the right thing by getting rid of him because now it's clear to see that he fucked up on many things team selection tactics and his transfer dealings.
The biggest things he fucked up on is signing our goalscorer who would fire us the goals to keep us in the premiership which was vital.

Agree, but still. Hats off for what he has done for us, he done all he can.

Re: Malky Lovers

Sun Jan 19, 2014 11:55 am

Totally agree , spent over £35m and we are still left with a championship team , next to no premier league experience and no proven goal scorer , of course it's all easy on hindsight but what was he thinking ? If it wasn't for the rebrand Vincent tan would not have had all this bad press for the sacking of malky and moody . There departures were fully justified in my opinion .

Re: Malky Lovers

Sun Jan 19, 2014 12:06 pm

He done well getting us up but for me villa away game done it for me lack of passion he should of been sacked when moody went but the same old anti tan people kicked up a fuss and started a media campian that was the wrong thing to do ,hope ole gets a few players in to get us out of this mess February is a massive month

5 points out of 24 in his last 8 games

Only scored in 3 of those 8 games

Failed to score in consecutive away games v Norwich, Villa, Palace and Stoke. In fact we barely mustered a chance in those games.

Failed to score in 10 of the 20 games before OGS took over.

On average we scored 0.7 and conceded 1.55 under Malky this season.

Its not difficult to see the problems we faced under Malky.

Aside from a decent point haul in August and September we went into freefall October, November, December and that was before arguably the worst month to come in January with trips to Arsenal, City and United so its no surprise we now find ourselves on the bottom.

You could excuse it if we were newly promoted and didnt spend ie Reading last year but Tan gave him a lorry full of money to spend and lets be totally honest he f*cking wasted it.

Unforgiveable in my book.

Failed to score against Norwich villa palace and stoke says it all for me. f*cking shocking really when you look back but not surprising the way he was picking his team and tactics. Had ole been here start the season we would be comfortable mid table now imo

Re: Malky Lovers

Sun Jan 19, 2014 12:49 pm

We didn't try to win any of those games mentioned.

I have little doubt we were going down under Malky.

This^^^^ Was a big achievement getting us promoted and we shouldn't forget that. Shame he had to make some duff signings, when he had a pretty sizeable war chest.

Which is why we're going down Polo unless Ole can perform a miracle. A Championship squad at best Ole is working with now with a few average PL players thrown in. If Ole keeps us up this year i'll regard him as our greatest ever manager because the only way I can see us going is down because he's taken on a sinking ship.

Its really going to take excellent managerial ability plus a bit of luck to keep us up now.

Agreed Barney. The lack of away points 1st half of season will cost us I feel.

Weve been left in a desperate situation where we go to all the top teams away who have clicked into gear now and going for the league / europe so even more difficult than beginning of season.

Then the teams in a relegation scrap to come at home who will be fighting even harder than beginning if season.

The fixture list is not Malkys fault but I do feel as a result of the fixtures we were given we should have been targeting more away points pre xmas.

We look at the signing and you do have to question them.....and looking now would I take a refund on them?

Moore – Unknown but young, fair enough IMO - KEEP
Theophile – Started well but really lacks quality – REFUND
Brayford – Never used, poor in the cups – REFUND
Caulker – excellent signing – KEEP
Amondarain – God knows but we took him on a 4 year deal, does he play in development games?
Medel – Started well, now looks lost and over weight – REFUND
Cornelius – REFUND
Odemwingy – Very patchy performances – REFUND

Two further points:
We bought two right backs and extended the contract of another RB - Yet imo we haven't strengthened that position.

Last season we struggled out wide and upfront and despite spending all that money we still lack wide and upfront.

Someone said to me yesterday I was a tan fan just because I thought Malky was deservedly sacked, I dont see the link.

It did make me think though obviously some people are trying to put pressure on Ole and have a dig when they can to have a dig at Tan.

For me the two are not linked at all.

This debate is about malky wasting £35 million on in general, very poor signings, (nobody can argue against that) nothing to do with VT.

Fist pumping after a 0-0 draw with an out of form Stoke when we could have easily won it if he brought on someone with an attacking mindset.

Says it all about him

Re: Malky Lovers

Sun Jan 19, 2014 3:15 pm

and yet, tony pulis has gone into a team with less quality than ours, and managed to tighten up and play on the counter and he's picking up points,

what happens if we get relegated now because defensively we looked much weaker under ole, people will then say we needed malkys defensive midset which got us to 16th.

Cannot really compare the two. You say yourself that Palace under Pulis play on the counter. When did Mackay's Cardiff counter? His only game plan was to hoof the ball to the opposition defence and sit and wait for them to attack again. Palace are trying to win games. Mackay set out for nil all draws.

100% disagree with all that post. Malky has got us to the Premiership and kept us above the relegation zone all season. So how you can say he's fucked up and we are in a mess because of him is bizarre to say the least! Also, Fraizer Campbell is showing he scores goals when given the service.

But Malkys tactics were to not give the striker service at all costs

Cornelious was the big gamble. We needed a premier striker but were struggling to get one. Cornelious came on the scene and if we are all honest it was a risk. The prize tag of £8m is not going to get us a proven premier striker.

However i do believe this was a total cockup signing. I recall MM saying Acorn was not ready. What he was meant to say is that Moody and I totally screwed up here. He was not going to say that but knew then his time was up here.

Malky Mackay has destroyed our great opportunity at taking the prem by storm. He pissed the money up against the wall, that picture at stoke really does say it all, go out and win or don't bother atall! I played sport all my life and if the coach told us to go and play for the draw, i personally would of thought what a pussy. Playing for draws is to dangerous, like ole said you got to go out to win the game.
