MILLWALL FAN 70S

Fri Jan 17, 2014 7:52 pm

What was your first proper punch up?

The first one was Millwall v Cardiff early 70s down in Cardiff. Got hurt real bad for the first time.

How bad is real bad?

Had the f**k kicked out of me, was black and blue all over, maybe 20 top boys on less than 10, it was like being in a washing machine. A few weeks later Cardiff came to The Den, we waited in a pub at New Cross for some tasty looking cunts to order beers in a funny accent, and punched the shit out of them — happy days! REALY SILLY THESE DAYS -- BUT that how things were. CCFC WEAR YOUR BLUE.

Saw a group of Millwall get laid out in St Marys Street in 1972. About 15 of them just hanging around basically waiting for it. Out of the blue came about 50 Cardiff and kicked the shit out of Millwall. I would say about 5 of them stood and took it but the rest scarpered.

I was only 12 and in the wrong place at the wrong time. Still picture it as if it only happened yesterday.

Whenever I go to the football nobody bothers me because they know better than to do so. Never had an issue in my life.

Hereford.. 16 years of age on a Sunday(I think) loads of Ely and CAERAU went up in a transit and I managed to get nabbed by a few Hereford by the church when they charged a few of us after throwing bottles back and fore.
Ended up in hospital before the game, got my X-rays as I had broken my nose and cheek bone. Went to game. Few beers in Abergavenny, collapsed, taken to neville hall, brother picked me up early hours and went home.

Did get my revenge and now Hereford is one of the areas I cover so I give them all shit... :)

January 1975 & the 3 City coaches pull up in a side street close to New Cross Station, we got off the bus & started the walk to Cold Blow Lane when all of a sudden about a dozen Millwall came out of the pub across the road, one of them smashes a bottle in his hand against the wall & they run straight into us, total mayhem as this mob was frothing at the mouth, City panicked & tried to leg it , i was 15 & scared shitless there was no hand gestures or bouncing with this lot it was like a pack of hounds who had caught a fox, the only thing on their mind was to do someone damage, a scream by a City fan went out & it turned into survival of the fittest, within minutes two City fans had been stabbed & one recieved neck wounds from a broken bottle. This was a era where there was no police protection coming off the coaches & you were left to your own devices & there was no hiding place, Millwall would come looking for you & would never back off on their manor, that mob of the 70 & 80's were probably man for man the best firm ever, they did'nt have the numbers of someone like Man U but even they came unstuck that year at the Den.

We are the same age and my mate was on one of those coaches. He wanted me to go but I just did not have the money.

Can't recall the detail my mate said what happened like you have here. Do remember him saying a couple of lads were put in hospital with stab wounds. It was all the talk that week at school. What amused me was how many kids then said they wanted to get involved like but never did.

That's the way it was Jon , if you went away in a transit van or coach and made your own way into their town you either fought or got the shit beat into you. No hiding behind the ob like most of the youngsters do now, you either stood or run & if you run you couldn't show your face again.

I'd like to see you prove that. :laughing5:

Nanny McPhail or whatever his name is wanted to meet me because I called him a prick for a valid reason, and he got mad. He insisted I told him where I sat, so I did, and then he didn't respond. That's hardly "arranging to meet other posters for a fight".

I'm talking about fans who go looking for it, if someone starts on you then obviously you have no choice.

I was on one of those coaches and got a hiding along with a few others. That was the thing with millwall though although it was the scariest ground ever we all went back there the next time we played them.
We always had a hiding up there and the compliment was returned when they came down here.

I've never had any trouble in Millwall whenever I've been. Nicest people you could ever wish to meet - hospitable, welcoming and overall just a lovely vibe to them and a lovely bunch of characters.

You deleted your previous post to post this? How self absorbed must you be? Talk about taking the internet so seriously.

Also I don't think I'm funny. Yet another assumption. Are you Barry Chuckles' love child?

I come back to support Solskjær but still frequent two other forums. If you'd like me to leave then just ask and your wish is my command.

It may be an assumption but it's so obvious.

You can if you want, it doesn't bother me, although this forum would be better without people like you.

If I wanted to be funny I wouldn't be on this forum Jon. Have a word with yourself FFS.

Anyway, I'm leaving now if you feel that way. At least you had the guts to say it unlike some other users on the forum.

Enjoy the game.
