Fabio signing is off

Re: Zaha and Fabio can both sign on loan!

Any loan signings are far likelier to happen towards the end of the transfer window when their parent clubs have finished any transfer business themselves. The only signings that we are likely to get in the very near future will be permanent signings but don't rule out Zaha and/or Fabio in the coming weeks.

That's Football League rules not Premier League. PL rules are no more than two loan players from fellow PL clubs with only one per donor club allowed. Sorry to rain on your parade!

Premier league rules are, no more than 4 loan player from PL clubs, but only one outfield player per donor club, and one goalkeeper from the same donor club, so a max of two.

Four in the same season, two at the same time

This is the rule on loan players for Premier League clubs.

This is taken from the Premier League handbook of rules and regulations 2013/14

Page 194 :

V.7.5. the maximum number of Temporary Transfers to any one Club registrable in the same Season shall be 4 and in no circumstances shall more than 1 be from the same Transferor Club at any one time save there shall be excluded from these numbers any Temporary Transfer of the kind described in V.7.6.1 or V.7.6.2;

V.7.6. not more than 2 Temporary Transfers shall be registered by a Club at the same time except that there shall be excluded from that number:
V.7.6.1. any Temporary Transfer which become permanent; and
V.7.6.2. the Temporary Transfer of a goalkeeper which in its absolute discretion the Board may allow in circumstances it considers to be exceptional;

I'm not disputing your claim but how did qpr sign townsend and livermore on loan from spurs last season?

Remember QPR signing Townsend on loan, but can't recall them signing Livermore. Are you maybe confusing him with Jenas who QPR bought from Spurs?

Man Utd blunder reveals Fabio is set to join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Cardiff
CARDIFF CITY are hoping to conclude a deal to sign Manchester United defender Fabio on loan for the rest of the season.

Despite no official confirmation from either club, a tweet from one of United's sponsors stated a loan deal was in place for the young Brazilian full-back to join former Old Trafford hero Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in south Wales.

New Bluebirds boss Solskjaer has already been busy in the transfer market bringing in former United youngsters Magnus Wolff Eikrem and Mats Moller Daehli and is believed to be also keen on a short-term move for winger Wilfried Zaha.

Talks between the two clubs are ongoing and Cardiff are confident Fabio, who spent last season on loan at QPR, will make the switch.

The verified Twitter account of Airtel, United's telecommunications partner on the sub-continent, stated that Fabio would be unable to take part in a planned question and answer session with twin brother Rafael on the social media site because a move to south Wales had been agreed.

The tweet on the @airtelindia feed, which was later deleted, read: "Unfortunately, Fabio will be joining Cardiff City on loan till the end of season & hence only Rafael will join us for #airtelAskUnited".

Fabio is currently suspended following his red-card in United's FA Cup defeat to Cardiff's fiercest rivals Swansea earlier this month.

That rule exception refers to loan deals which become permanent i.e. loaned in August and becomes permanent in Jan therefore allowing another loan.

It does not refer to a loan deal that will become permanent in the future as that would still mean 2 players are on loan from the same club at the same time.

The wording of rule V.7.6.1 is not the best to say the least. If a loan has turned to a permanent transfer then it is no longer a loan so really should be no reason to state 'any temporary transfer which become permanent' anyhow cause then you would no longer be loaning.

It is stating the obvious. :laughing6:

My point being that the rule is not that you can have two players on loan from one team at the same time because one of them has an agreement to make it into a permanent deal at the end of the loan period but you can only loan another player from that team if the deal is made permanent.

That is my understanding.
