All the people who gave Rudy Gestede stick

Now you're stuck with a static caravan on the pitch called Cornelius. Congratulations on that. We had a player who gave his all, grabbed vital goals in games because he actually could head the ball and didn't possess a 50p head and now we have Todd from Breaking Bad on the pitch running around the pitch looking for the money Walt stashed. We'd have been better off keeping Rudy who actually tried and getting rid of him.

To all the people saying he'll come good as well thats just kidding yourself. The lad is not up to it and he's League One/Championship at best. I feel sorry for him with all this expectation on his shoulders at a young age and whilst he is getting paid well for it his career is going to be damaged from it as he should be playing in a league consistently at his level to progress naturally. He needs to go on loan to learn the game properly. He looks like a little guppy in a tank of sharks.

Oh well, I'm sure our younger stretched version of Boris Johnson will come good in the end.

Was only saying the other day at the game that, for all the money we are spending on him and what gestede cost us and the difference between the two is minimal.

In fact id say gestede would certainly have contributed more so far this season, and although he may well come good.. for a (reported) 45k a week we should be expecting someone who can get double figures from the off.

Rudy with a heart was better than Cornelius. His drive and ambition and wanting to do well gave him that extra edge over Cornelius. Its what drove him to score scrappy goals or get on the end of crosses and put them away. Its why he would chase down and be a nuisance because he saw Campbell doing it and wanted to contribute to the cause. He was not the most skilled of players, he'll probably tell you that himself, but he tried and he gave his all and it was better than what Cornelius offers. Rudy is a top Championship striker who could contribute at this level a bit with the odd goal off the bench. Cornelius is a raw league one/lower Championship player at the moment. Oh well, by the time he comes good we might be there ourselves so you never know, he might be of more use to us in the future than we could ever imagine.

most premiership strikers are not in their prime until 28/29/30 yrs old
lot of people made up their minds too soon and couldn't been seen to lose face when he started to prove them wrong

Rudy would have offered us more than Cornelius. We had the two on offer yet got rid of the one who can actually offer us something and kept the one who is a 'raw talent for the future'. Newport County will be above us by the time he's ready.

Neither are currently good enough in my opinion, which is why Rudy has been sent off to Blackburn. Once we get more striking options in, I've a feeling we won't see Cornelius again either.

Obviouly some kind of wind up merchant. Rudy was never and will never be a top championship striker. He's tall but his timing is shite, he rarely won a header when challenged, he could'nt hold the ball up, he used to pretend to chase down but never quite got there and he rarely got under a high ball let alone won it, and he never played anyone in to score. Yes he scored a couple if goals. Whoopy do. Who knows what Cornelius can do, none of our strikers will score much until we start creating proper goal scoring opportunities that suit them. Creative midfield players are the key to that.

Yet scored goals in our title winning campaign and important goals at that. He killed off one of our major threats in Leicester at that point with a late goal. Scored a brace against another side surging towards the playoffs and he did his job off the bench as told and instructed. Like I said, he was not the technically gifted striker but he knew how to put in a shift and be a nuisance to the defenders and just make himself known. Cornelius against Sunderland just didn't even bother to do any of that and he just moped around like a lost sheep.

Rudy will do well at a top Championship club and will score goals especially alongside another player of whom he can play with because he'll improve his game too. He's the type of player always trying to improve and its shown in his drive and style. Im not claiming he's world class but he'd sure as hell contribute more than Cornelius.

I used to wind people up saying Rudy was world class but thats just because I wanted to be optimistic for the lad and he showed effort and drive. He was on the social media getting loads of stick and as a user of Twitter he would have seen some of the shit he got WHICH WAS UNCALLED FOR AS HE CONTRIBUTED TO OUR PROMOTION. Players like Bothroyd were lapped up, even fans asking for Bothroyd back, yet this guy bottled it and sulked when we needed him most because he was a prima donna. You never saw that from Rudy. He just put in a shift whenever asked. Nobody is claiming he is great, well I'm certainly not, but he's of more use to us than Cornelius and of that there is no doubt.

In 5 years Cornelius may be better but football is about the here and now for a club like us where this season will be our judgement season. We need players who can contribute now.

& that's where it goes wrong for Gestede too. NEITHER player are good enough to contribute in the premiership, simple as that. Rudy hasn't even shown himself as a top championship striker.
