Shearer calls us a massive club

Mon Jan 06, 2014 11:21 am

Former England captain Alan Shearer, writing in The Sun, backs ex-Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solksjaer to succeed as Cardiff manager and says: "I don't think it is a risk for him at all, he wanted to move on to bigger things and he has gone to a massive club with a huge fanbase.

"He has a wealthy owner behind him who looks like he is going to give him some money. Likewise I don't think Ole is a risk for Cardiff, he has this reputation as a baby-faced guy but there is a mentally tough side to him as well."

Just proves how far we have come :ayatollah:

Lets be honest we are not a 'massive club', no where near it.

The empty seats in our first ever Premier League year show that. Even when we have beaten Man City and Swansea at home we still can't completely sell out.

willy wanka that's funny i laughed hard.
if shearer says we're massive then i agree with him,if we can stay in the premier our fan base will grow and grow,we've been outside the top flight for a long time but we'll be up to 34,000 next season and we'll sell out.

Don't mistake empty seats for unsold seats.

Am I the only one thinking shearer may have developed a bit of a soft spot for us :?

Just seems a bit more affectionate than other people even if we still get no coverage on MOTD

Still glad we went for Malky at the time ;)

Shearer also admits to being offered the job by Tan,when Malky was already promised it and then turning it down at the last minute Hmm

Funny when we put it out, we were virtually called liars

There's always countless empty seats at the Etihad. Does that mean Man City aren't a big club?

Arsenal...........the official attendance on new years day was 60,004. anyone that was there and looked up at the top tear saw thousands and thousands of empty seats, i presume these were bought and paid for hence the attendance quoted by the club.

Exactly. God forbid anyone has a change of circumstances/commitments at such an important time in the year. I know loads who were supposed to go to watch Cardiff but in the end didn't because of the orders they were given by their missus.

Re: Shearer calls us a massive club

Mon Jan 06, 2014 4:41 pm

I think we are growing... unlike a lot of other clubs in the championship/prem who have had years in the top flight, we have not.
if we stay in the prem and do well, I believe we could get 35k easily.

only one thing worse than a jack is a jack pretending to be a City fan.

Re: Shearer calls us a massive club

Mon Jan 06, 2014 4:54 pm

So we could have zero attendance but everyone has bought seats and you'd class it as a capacity crowd. 'Crowd' being the important word, as I class the people in the crowd as being the attendance, the same as any sane person would.

if all tickets are sold it's a sell out.
if they all fall ill and don't attend it's still a sell out.
sell out,the most important two words.

Oh well. So there are NO massive clubs in the Uk as no-=one has a match when there aren't any fans who don't turn up.

There were something like 10000 empty seats at Arsenal and still touts trying to buy our tickets outside.

Work that one out.

We are growing well and have a hell of a lot of extra potential. Sold out the home section all season and parts of the away section when they didn't sell out as well, the whole extra chunk for all except West brom.
