Arsenal v Cardiff City

UPDATED DAILY

David Kerslake is now preparing Cardiff for their match at Arsenal and, possibly, the FA Cup tie at Newcastle on Saturday, January 4, but isn’t looking beyond the match at the Emirates.

“I believe I will still be taking the team for that game,” he said. “We know they are one of the finest sides in Europe, but we will go up there with no fear and in good spirits.”

CARDIFF

Cardiff, meanwhile, are set to name the same XI that drew against the Black Cats, with Craig Bellamy still struggling with a knee complaint, although the Welshman proves the only absentee concern heading into the clash.

ARSENAL

The north Londoners head into the New Year sitting top of the table following Sunday’s 1-0 win over Newcastle United and another win over Cardiff will move them a step closer to ending their much talked about trophy drought.

Arsene Wenger has suggested he may be forced to rest striker Olivier Giroud for the game which could see Nicklas Bendtner start up front. Lukas Podolski is another option but the Gunners boss has hinted he’ll continue to use the German cautiously following his four month lay-off.

Mikel Arteta could come back in to midfield after being named among the subs at the weekend while Jack Wilshere could be pushed further forward with Mesut Ozil ruled out with a shoulder injury.

Aaron Ramsey is also out so Mathieu Flamini could partner Arteta at the base of midfield. Santi Cazorla was disappointing against Newcastle but is likely to retain his place, although Wenger could opt to give some game-time to one of his youngsters such as Ryo Miyaichi or Serge Gnabry.

I'd be surprised. I've watched their last five games, not looking the force they were when we played them a little while back. 4-0 is possible if our defenders self destruct again though, I agree.

We are favourites to lose but u never know, if we start and finish like we started yesterday we will be ok

Arsenal are on the decline rambo is out. our defense is solid enough for them to have a blank day if we play well..

its only a matter of time until we follow through with the goods against a big team we've had spells against all of the top 4 when we could of got a result.

I reckon we might shock them

Arsenal 1 Cardiff 2. Forever the optimist! They only put the game to bed against us in the 87th minute and then only because we had thrown caution to the wind chasing an equaliser and earlier in the game it took a spectacular save to stop us scoring.

Stranger things have happened...

Can't wait - I am going to just enjoy the day and just hope that we pull off an unlikely result.

if we had a club pulling together on and off the pitch a bit like palace at the moment we could make a fight of this game but the club is in a massive hole we are all going in differant directions as a club .

Someone needs to pick us up off the floor and sort it all out otherwise we will go down and thats not fair we should all be enjoying this season but its a load of crap.

Arsenal 3-1 winners

The players, didnt even look as if they missed Malky on Saturday. So I expect them to be totally up for this. We must believe in ourselves and that we are capable of getting a point

we will give it a good go. think we will nick the lead as well. in the end they will be too good for us and they will scrape through either 2-1 or 3-1

Giroud also out injured for this now... We've picked a good time to play them with Giroud, Ozil and Rambo out, and I think a few others like Vermaelen, the Ox too... I'm sure Caulker can get the better of Bender :ayatollah:

Arsenal is a really hard place to play, I remember when I went last time and we lost 4-0, they were awsum. I can see nothing less than 3-0 for this game

What has Turner got to do to be dropped? Surely Hudson deserves a chance after Turners performance against Sunderland?
