In all fairness I didn't expect to us to have the budget we had in the summer,so it wouldn't surprise me if there is nothing left

So is this Tans new plan to get rid of Mackay then and thats starve him of January funding..? What he doesn't realise is that by doing this Mackays popularity will grow even more with the fans if he is succesful if keeping the club up.

I think that's been taken out of context. :old:

As I keep on saying £35m with a Championship standard base to go from isn't that much

Malky has stated in the past that we were actually under budget in the summer transfer window, so hopefully theres some in the pot in January which im very confident there is for a few players.

He has given Malky 45m in the past 3 windows (with hardly any of that recouped via player sales)

What do you expect? Another 20m to piss up the wall if the summers signings are anything to go by.

What are you on?

Swansea spent £9m in the first season and finished 11th and that was from a play off winning squad..... £12m the year after and finished 9th, won a major trophy and qualified for Europe... Thats £21m combined in 2 seasons..... £18m this season equalling 3 years premiership spending of £39m which is only £4m more than Malky spent in a few short months!!

£35m on top of a championship winning squad is a mammoth amount of money.

We were the 7th biggest Premiership spenders in the summer, alright granted, we were playing catch up with the already established Premier clubs, but that was a very decent budget. Come January, whoever the manager is will be given funds to keep us in this league. Relegation is not an option for VT

If I was Tan, I would expect Malky to generate a certain amount - say £6 or 7 million, by clearing out some of the fringe players such as Velikonja, Maynard, Brayford and a few others who aren't going to feature. We need to save on the wage bill too as these players are being paid good money for not very much return. I'd match whatever was made to try and sign two decent players - a LB and a Striker. £14 million would get you two pretty good players.

Your right there relegation is def not an option for Tan, its not in his plans and everything he has planned would go up in smoke if we got relegated.

well I hope Mr Tan doesn't keep throwing money at it, too many people saying Malky this Malky that Malky just learning!! Well theres a lot of managers at clubs who haven't had that kind of money to play with so perhaps he will learn a valuable lesson by being on a tight budget and use HIS squad more.

keep the faith :ayatollah:

Id rather our chairman play our budget down than say how much we have to spend like tan did this summer. If he went on record saying we have x amount to spend then selling clubs will push price up

Same interview from Two different websites, one saying that Malky will have money to spend January and the other saying he won't. :?

http://uk.soccerway.com/news/2013/Decem ... y-support/
"So from that perspective, we are fully committed to the amount of money we have available, and of course in the future we will see how things go. Asked specifically what funds might be available to bolster the squad in the next transfer window, Dalman insisted that it would be down to Mackay to draw up his list of potential targets first. ."

No idea why you would think that. Its the third biggest domestic trophy out there and has a place in Europe attached to it. Nice little pictures though wellvdome your teachers will be proud.

Because that's what your fans called it when we were in the final! :laughing6:

It's a tough one... Now if I was lucky enough to own a Premier League football club and had money coming out of my ears, this is what I would have done...

In an interview close to the transfer window, and with my club around the bottom half, I would have said "F**k Aye, we've got millions available!"

In the hope that nobody bumps up the already inflated transfer prices now that I've announced that to the watching world.

I dont think Malky can complain if he isnt given any more money, he doesnt like spending in January anyway and had a huge budget in the summer.

Problem is we do need the players that should have been identified in the summer

£35 mill is a massive sum to play with....we got the team...maybe we need to change the line yup and the tactics

Re: ' Chairman Hints No money for Malky in January 2014 '

Thu Dec 12, 2013 2:36 pm

Krabb hear hear! However, Military Junta is right ......we started from a low quality base and needed more catching up than we did. This was a case of more not less. How about clearing out some of the shite in the squad, save something on the wage bill and get a couple of players in who know the Prem ropes?

Re: ' Chairman Hints No money for Malky in January 2014 '

Thu Dec 12, 2013 4:02 pm

Personally, I don't think we can expect much in the way of funds in Jan. Might be able to squeeze a couple more million out of Tan for a new player, more than likely we'll get a couple of loanees instead. Our wage bill is massive at the moment, and not really sustainable. There are players on big money who aren't even playing. If Tan has any sense, he'd tell Malky to move them on first.

Re: ' Chairman Hints No money for Malky in January 2014 '

Thu Dec 12, 2013 4:50 pm

I'm pretty sure anyone brought in will have to be good enough to go straight into the match day 11. This may mean raising some funds by letting others go
