not going to give any reasons then on why he isnt a footballing legend?

being the most decorated player in English football makes you iconic in your own right, regardless of whether you like him or not.

Is he a legend ? Yes he is witbout a doubt
Has he any affinity with Cardiff ? Nope not one jot
Should he get a great reception ? Nope
Should he be targeted by City fans for banter ? Yep
If he is to get acknowledged then it should be at the end.
And thinking if we tell Ryan its a friendly he wont turn up

Head nail blah blah. However he's not a legend because he faked injury in order to not play for his country

Hes a Man U legend without a doubt but not a Welsh/Cardiff legend.

Maybe the best place to ask would be a Man U messageboard.

Re: Is Ryan giggs a footballing legend??

Yes he's a legend for all he's won and the fact he's still playing.

Bale wont be playing in friendlys for Wales are we going to feel any different to him.

I think Bale has already played in a lot more friendlies than Giggs ever did!

All this Giggs loving is bloody pathetic! Will we all still be giving him a nice clap when he scores against us? He's an opponent and any player we are against can send us down, we must unsettle everyone as much as possible before and during the game so they're all shitting it against us! Let's make CCS an intimidating cauldron...then when the final whistle goes and we have done our bit to help us get a result, those who want to show their appreciation to Giggs can do, although I won't as I have no respect for a man who sleeps with his brothers partner!!

His decoration will never be broken IMO.

All at one club as well.

A very rare breed.

Re: Is Ryan giggs a footballing legend??

I can't see how there's any debate. Giggs is truly a world footballing legend.

Very few people have played at the very highest level for 20 years and I doubt anyone in the world has ever had an honours list comparable with him. Especially as a one club man.

The fact he's changed position and can still dominate matches as a central midfielder even now is a testament to his brilliance.

We should just be proud he's from Cardiff and enjoy him for however long we're lucky enough to still have him as a player.

He's played for Man Utd his whole career so of course he's won medals. Were John O'Shea, Wes Brown, Nicky Butt, Ji-Sung Park etc world class players as well then?

Giggs never did it internationally for Wales, not even against minnow nations sometimes. So although he has undoubtedly been an incredible player for Man Utd, I would still not put him in the same bracket as Messi, Ronaldo, Bale, Schweinsteiger, Pirlo etc.

So Bale is a better player than Giggs , do me a favour , bale has achieved nothing in the game yet whatsoever, and it's highly likely that when he does retire that he will still only achieve a fraction of what Giggs has!!

You are either trying to wind up or know nothing about football!
Bale has a long way to go before you can even mention him in the same breath as Giggs.
" Giggs never managed to reach the same performance that Bale is playing at". You are either too young to remember or didn't have a TV !!

Can you explain how Giggs has never won any individual awards despite playing in the best team in the Premiership for 20 plus years then? Bale has already won PFA awards playing for Spurs. In his prime, I believe Giggs wouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Messi or Ronaldo, Bale is currently pushing them very close mind.
