He chose to represent Wales, knowing that it was unlikely that he would ever have any international success, when he could have taken the easy option and played for England.

He has preformed at the top level for his whole career and is an outstanding professional who dedicated his life to football. Name another player who has played at the top level as long as he has with the same club.

I don't see why you've mentioned representing Team GB as some sort of negative.

His personal life is just that, his business. As long as he's not taking drugs or committing criminal acts then its nothing to do with us.

As another poster has said, whenever anyone approaches him he's always happy to sign autographs, have pictures taken and talk about football.

His achievements certainly justify people choosing to show him some respect.

If you don't want to then that's your choice just as it's other people's choice to applaud.

I was there for his debut and his last game for Wales.

He is Wales most decorated player and is a Cardiff boy.

I for one will be applauding him.

If footballers' off-the-field antics determined whether we cheered or booed them, I reckon Bellers and Medel would get a pasting off us as well. Not to mention Chopra and McCormack in recent years.

Giggs was one of my childhood icons - I don't approve of his personal antics either but I'm not going to be one of these bitter fuckers that jeers him for missing a couple of Wales friendlies - one or two of our alleged 'top' players still do this today...

He might not have an attachment to CCFC and may be more of a Manc than a Cardiffian, but the guy's a football legend...

Giggs has done absolutely nothing for Cardiff City, so will not be getting any special reception off me.

This isn't a Wales game.

I doubt those who are willing to give a special welcome afforded the same to Ashley Williams in the last home game, a player far more committed to Wales than Giggs ever was.

Giggs has done far more for Welsh football than Ashley Williams can ever do.

Giggs being one of the best players the premiership has seen, and the most successful, has brought attention to Wales than any other player bar John Charles. Everybody knows who Giggs is.

He deserves respect. Hes a Cardiff boy, and If we ever played Madrid in a friendley im sure Bale would get a good reception.

I remember his debut for wales, pretty sure he hit a stunning free kick that hit the bar, and he was the only welsh player i was interested in watching, as the germans had a hell of a team.

A cardiff born boy is the most decorated player in the premiership and probably in his last season deserves a great reception.

I can't understand why anyone would want to applaud Giggs. What's he ever had to do with CCFC? If it was a Wales game I'd understand it. He's been a great footballer that's undeniable and what he does with his sister-in-laws clopper is nobodies business unless your names Rhodri.

Giggs was never eligible for England, it is a complete myth.

Because he is not playing for cardiff and never has.he is playing for a side we need points off............make him feel uncomfortable along with the rest..........what the hell are we turning into..........if you wanted to cheer him you should have cheered when he played for wales...........when he turned up.

People talk about him like he never played for Wales, he had 64 Caps, hardly a handfull. He should have had more yes but he was an injury prone player anyway. He only got 14 less caps than Bellers and plenty more than people like Savage, Hartson, Coleman.

Giggs is one of the greatest players to grace the game, is a Cardiff boy and has said positive things about us in the past whilst also having a decent Welsh career. He deserves applause before the game and after the game and booing like the rest of the Utd team during the game

Took him 7 years to even play in a friendly for Wales! Also never played in an away friendly! only turned up when he wanted to turn up for Wales!! if this is the case we should applaud Gunter and every other welsh player who plays down here!! players like Gunter who turn up to every game deserve much more of a applause than him! Got a standing ovation from Real Madrid fans at their stadium a few years back when coming on as a sub, speaks volumes!!
In my opinion what he has achieved and won in the game will never be equalled by a British footballer.
