Wales v Finland

Wed Nov 13, 2013 8:34 pm

Is anyone going on Saturday?

Ramsey and Bale have both been training today, and tickets are £10.
I still think they're going to be very lucky to get 10k there.

With the rugby on the Saturday too, I can't see many going to the Wales football match.

Not stepping foot at a Welsh game after what they've done.

Making a mockery of Wales in a way. Letting an English man lead us out as a nation.. I find it impossible to take pride and urge the team on with that embarrassment.

FAW or Coleman, how they believe picking an Englishman as captain is just a p*ss take, goes for any nationality if it's Scottish.

I will have someone slate me on this view but I boycotted since it happened, I sold my Scotland tickets for home when it happened and also saved a lot of money for Scotland away which I was excited about.

Yet you're calling for an non-Welsh manager... Priceless. :laughing6:

A non-Welsh manager is not even the same as having a non-Welsh captain, what a stupid thing to say.

I don't want a foreign manager but I will accept it and It is only because I don't believe anyone who is Welsh and manage in Football could take us forward. There are quite a few managers who manage International teams who are not even from their.

What a pathetic point.

Also I stick to my stance and actually boycott unlike some people on the rebrand.

I said Foreign all day long and knew you would track that back, but that's the way we need to go if we want to push forward and move up as a nation in Football. Not exactly my plan A but it is something I would support.

Manager and Captain are to different things.

It's also quite easy to 'boycott' Wales when we're rubbish.

As with many others who are refusing to go, if we qualified for the World Cup/Euro I bet they'd forget about Williams being captain or Coleman being in charge. (who am I kidding - we won't qualify with him in charge! )

It is not easy as supporting Wales for me as nothing to do with being good or rubbish. I wouldn't have bothered supporting them years ago otherwise.

The qualification bit is something that I have been asked, in honesty answering it now I would most likely not go. The sad thing is the more it comes up as a topic on here involving Wales the less care I have, which is sad. :(

Personally, I think that the manager of a nation should be from that nation.

Fair enough I respect that and I agree with you, but a foreign manager is something that shouldn't be ruled out, it's a popular thing in internationals and I only want to see us push forward as a nation and raise the expectations.

Agreed, I wouldn't object to a foreign manager in charge of Wales, but obviously as stated, I wouldn't agree with the principles of it. If it helps Wales progress then fine, but thats the same to players not being born in Wales but qualifying by relatives being welsh. If they qualify for Wales then they should play.

WHEN? you make it sound like we have been good

I used to love watching Wales, travelled home and away to certain games but Coleman making a mockery of things and Williams as captain just doesnt seem right to me.
It makes me sad to have not even known we were playing at home or who against.

As a Welshman born outside of the country, I It find it particularly irksome that others feel they are in some capacity 'more Welsh' due to something they had no control over.

How does birthplace alter you as a person? Your family do, where you grow up does, but the hospital you were born in? I don't buy it.

That said, Williams is total shit and for that reason shouldn't be captain

I've got 25/1 on Wales to win 2-1 Bale 1st goal

Good post, apart from the last sentence. ;)

If Williams played for Aston Villa do you think people would be moaning about him? Nope.

I think the captain should be welsh-born. I'd say the same if Turner was captain (had he accepted the invitation to play for Wales).

Whilst I do think Williams is over rated, to call him total shit is absolute nonsense.

Calling him s**t is stupid. We would be lost without him sometimes in some games I seen. I appreciate what he done like the rest it isn't exactly his fault he's captain.

Fair enough, if you really don't want a non-Welsh born person as captain. I somehow think he get's more abuse for it because it's him though. If Bale was born in England but qualified to play for Wales and was our captain then I doubt anyone would bat an eyelid. There'd be excuses made.

At least Ash shows up to every single game. He is always available to play (unless genuinely injured). Sometimes he's his own worst enemy though because he's been struggling for fitness in recent weeks and still wants to play for Wales this weekend.

Another good thing is he's bothered to learn the anthem. He can't do much more! He's learning Spanish too, to speak to the Spanish boys at Swansea. He's a proper pro to be fair.

Of course they would, him playing for Swansea makes no difference.

If Ben Davies was captain I think it would be an odd choice but an acceptable choice as he was born in wales.

If a man who qualifies to play for a country I see no reason why he cant be captain of that country

the qualification criteria maybe needs to be re-examined other than that i have no real issue
